Frequently Asked Questions - FH101N Clas Ohlson

How do I turn on the fan heater?
Place the heater upright on a level surface and plug it into a wall socket. Turn the thermostat knob to the maximum setting, then set the rear switch [1/0] to I. The indicator light will come on.
Why does the fan heater turn off after a short time?
The thermostat may be set lower than the room temperature. Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to increase the temperature. If it still stops, check if the tip-over switch has been triggered or if the overheating protection has tripped.
What should I do if the fan heater overheats?
Set the switch to 0, unplug the heater, and let it cool for 5–10 minutes. Then plug it back in and switch on. The heater should resume normal operation. Ensure vents are not blocked.
How do I clean the fan heater?
Turn off and unplug the heater, let it cool completely. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with water (no detergents). Vacuum the air inlet and outlet regularly.
Can I use the fan heater in a bathroom?
No. The manual warns never to use it in the immediate vicinity of bathtubs, showers, or swimming pools. It is intended for indoor use in dry areas only.
What does the tip-over switch do?
The tip-over switch automatically shuts off the heater if it is knocked over or not placed vertically. Once returned to an upright position on a level surface, it will start working again.
Can I leave the fan heater unattended?
No. The manual explicitly warns never to leave the heater unattended while in use. Always unplug it when not in use.
How do I set the desired temperature?
Turn the thermostat knob to the maximum and let the room warm up. When the desired temperature is reached, slowly turn the knob back until you hear a click and the heater switches off. Leave the knob at that position to maintain the set temperature.
What safety precautions should I take?
Keep flammable materials at least 50 cm from sides/back/top and 120 cm in front. Never cover the heater. Do not use near water or with an extension cord. Ensure children and pets are supervised. Always unplug when not in use.
Where should I place the fan heater?
Place it on a firm, level surface, never directly under a wall socket. Ensure it is upright and the power cord is routed behind to avoid contact with hot air. Keep away from curtains, furniture, and wet areas.

Instructions for use

Note

  • Bear in mind that factors such as the size of the room, the outside temperature and how well the building is insulated, all affect the ability of the heater to warm the room up. If the room is too large the ability of the heater to warm it up to the desired temperature may be insufficient.
  • The fan heater must be standing upright on a level surface to ensure that the tip-over switch doesn't trip.

  • Place the fan heater on a firm, level surface capable of supporting its weight.

  • Plug the heater into a wall socket.
  • Turn the thermostat knob (1) to the maximum setting.
  • Set the switch [1/0] (5) on the rear of the fan heater to I to switch the fan heater on, the indicator light (2) will come on.
  • When the desired ambient temperature has been reached, slowly turn the thermostat knob back until it clicks and the fan heater switches off. Leave the thermostat knob in that position.
  • The fan heater will maintain the set temperature by automatically switching on and off.
  • The temperature can be adjusted by turning the thermostat knob:

- clockwise to raise the temperature

- anticlockwise to lower the temperature.

  1. Set the [1/0] switch to 0 to switch the fan heater off, the indicator light will go out.

Overheating protection

The fan heater is fitted with an overheating safety cut-off protection device which switches the fan heater off if it overheats.

To reset the overheating protection device:

  1. Set the [1/0] switch to 0.
  2. Unplug the fan heater from the wall socket and let it cool for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Then plug the heater back into a wall socket. The heater should now work normally.

Tip-over switch

  • The fan heater is fitted with a tip-over switch (6) safety cut-off protection device which switches the fan heater off if it falls over or is not vertical.
  • The fan heater will start working again once it has been returned to the upright position on a level surface.

Care and maintenance

  • Turn off the fan heater, unplug it and let in cool completely before cleaning.
  • Wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Dampen the cloth with a little water if required, do not use detergent, solvent or corrosive chemicals.
  • Get into the habit of vacuum cleaning the air inlet and outlet (3 and 4) of the fan heater regularly.
  • The fan heater should be stored indoors when it is not in use.

Troubleshooting guide

The fan heater does not start.Make sure that the fan heater is standing upright and that it is placed on a level surface, otherwise the tip-over switch might have been triggered. Is the power switch set to I?Has the thermostat turned off the fan heater?Turn the thermostat knob clockwiseIs the mains lead intact and properly plugged into the wall socket? Is the wall socket live? The overheating protection has tripped. Reset as instructed in the Overheating protection section.
The fan heater starts but stops after a short time. The thermostat is set to a lower temperature than the current room temperature. Check the thermostat setting.
