- Retain Instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.

- Setup – The apparatus should only be placed on a stable, flat surface. Do not let the apparatus fall down or expose it to shock.
- Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer.
- Ventilation - The appliance should be situated so that its location or position does not interfere with its proper ventilation. - Heat - The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance.
- Cables and Plugs – The mains plug shall remain readily operable. All cables should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.
- Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. Clean by wiping with a dry and clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents. Always pull the mains plug before cleaning the unit.
- Non-use Periods - The power cord of the appliance should be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a long period of time.
- Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings.
- Damage Requiring Service - The appliance should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
a) The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
b) Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance; or
c) The appliance has been exposed to rain; or
d) The appliance does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
e) The appliance has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged. - Servicing - The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.

- Thunderstorms – During a thunderstorm the mains plug should be unplugged.

Batteries
Batteries may not be disposed of in regular house hold trash. Every consumer has the obligation to return batteries to special disposal locations.

- Handling discs
• Always keep the CD compartment shut to prevent dust or dirt from getting into the CD mechanism.
- Do not touch the recorded surface.
- Do not stick paper or write on either side of the CD.
- Do not bend the CD.
- Only handle a disc on its outer edges.



- Storing discs
• To avoid scratches/damages always put CDs back into their cases after use.
- Do not expose CDs to direct sunlight, dust, dirt, high temperatures, high humidity or water.

Use a soft cloth to wipe fingerprints and dust from the disc surface.

Setting a safe volume level
- If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
• What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
• To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level. - Increase the volume slowly.
- Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
- If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.
Condensation

- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.
Saving energy
- If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket
Unpacking
• Take out carefully the unit from the packing. Please keep the packing for further use.
- Carefully remove possible protection cardboards and slipcovers.

Connection of Speaker Boxes
- Unwrap the speaker-cords of both speaker-boxes and insert the left/right plugs into sockets in the rear of main unit.
- Place the speaker boxes as far apart as possible for best sound effect.
Power Supply
- Make sure the set voltage of the unit matches your local voltage.
- Insert the plug of the AC cord into a wall outlet with AC power.
- Press the ⏻ On/Standby key to switch "on" the unit.
- This unit is designed to operate without being totally powered "off". It will either be "on" or in "standby" mode.
- In standby mode, the blue backlight of the digital display will be dimmed. But the display will show the current time (clock function).
- Anytime during standby mode, you can switch "on" the unit by pressing the (on remote control or front panel of the main unit).
- Save energy by switching the system to "standby" mode when not in use.

Note: How to tell if the power is "ON"?
When the power is "ON" the entire digital display will light up with a blue backlight.
Preparation of Remote Control
- Remove (gently pull out) the plastic tab from the battery compartment at the rear of the remote control.
- Test the remote control by pointing it towards the remote control sensor on the unit and pressing the On/Standby key to check that the unit switches on properly using the remote control.
Digital Clock Function
The set has a built-in digital clock, which is displayed when the set is in “standby mode”. In this situation the blue backlight is normally dimmed.
Setting the Time
- Switch the unit to stand-by mode.
- Press & hold the CLOCK SET button for 3 seconds. The display now shows 12 hour or 24 hour (flashing).
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN to select 12-hour or 24-hour clock display format and press the CLOCK SET button to confirm your selection.
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN repeatedly to set the correct hour in the display and press CLOCK SET to confirm.
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN repeatedly to set the correct minute in the display and press CLOCK SET to confirm.
- Correct time is now set and will be shown in the display.
Note:
- When the digital clock is not set, the digital clock display is continuously flashing to indicate that the correct time has not yet been set.
Automatic Power On/Off Timer Function
This set has a timer function to enable you to program the unit to automatically switch "on" or "off" at preset times. This is useful as a morning alarm clock:
Setting the Timer
- Press and hold TIMER key (on remote control). The "TIMER ON" symbol appears in the display.
- Press ▶▶TUNE UP or ◀◀ TUNE DOWN to adjust the hour of the desired "on" time and then press TIMER key to confirm.
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN to adjust the minutes of the desired "On" time and then press TIMER key to confirm.
- Now the wording in the display changes to show "TIMER OFF".
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN keys to adjust the hour of the desired "Off" time and then press TIMER to confirm.
- Press ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN to adjust the minutes of the desired "Off" time and then press TIMER to confirm.
- Now the display will indicate the "Wake Up Mode" (Tuner, CD, USB or Card). Press TUNE UP to choose the desired mode an press TIMER to confirm.
- The display then shows the "Wake Up Volume Level" (loudness). Press TUNE UP or TUNE DOWN to increase or decrease the volume level to be used for the music to be played when the timer switches on the unit at the preset time.
- Press TIMER to confirm.
- Finally the display will cycle through all settings and then the unit will return to the normal display, except that the ⏻ symbol will be shown, to indicate that you have programmed an On/Off Alarm setting.
- In case you wish to disable the timer, press the TIMER key once and the ⏻ symbol will disappear.
Notes:
- The automatic on/off timer will switch on the unit as if you have manually pressed the ON/STANDBY key. If you have selected "Wake To Radio", the exact preset radio band & station will become activated when power switches on.
- When you have selected “CD” as wake up mode but there is no CD in the disk compartment then the unit will automatically switch to radio mode and play the last station. The same goes for “USB” and “SD”.
- Make sure that you have set the correct time in order for the timer to work correctly.
Snooze Function
The snooze function enables you to delay the wake up timer. Once the on timer has switched the unit on press the SNOOZE key (on the remote control) to switch off the unit temporarily. The display shows "SNOOZE". After 9 minutes the unit switches on again.
Automatic Power Off Sleep Function
This set has a special sleep timer function which can automatically switch off the unit. This is useful for sleeping to music at night.
- At any time while the unit is operating, press SLEEP key (on remote control) repeatedly to choose the desired time after which the unit switches itself off:

*Off means sleep timer is deactivated.
- When the sleep timer is active, "zZZ" will be shown in the display.
• To check the remaining time of a set sleep timer, press the SLEEP key once. - To deactivate a set sleep timer, repeatedly press the SLEEP key until "zZZ" disappears from the display.
Electronic Volume Control
This unit uses an electronic volume control (push button type).
• To increase or decrease the loudness of the unit, press the VOLUME UP (VOL+) or VOLUME DOWN (VOL-) keys respectively.
- Release the key when volume level is at the desired loudness.
- Sometimes, especially during listening to the radio, you may notice a “click-click-click” (repeating) sound when you are increasing or decreasing the volume. This is a normal condition and the sound will disappear when you release the volume key (when you reach the desired volume level).
Radio
- Press the ON/STANDBY key once to turn the unit on.
- Press the FUNCTION key repeatedly until the display shows the radio frequency.
- Press the BAND key to select the desired radio band.
- For AM stations rotate or reposition the set to improve radio reception.
- To improve FM radio reception, fully extend the FM antenna wire and adjust its position.
- Use the FM MODE key to select the desired mode (FM Mono/Stereo). In some cases, where reception is poor, it may be advisable to select "Mono" mode, to improve clarity of the radio signal.
Manual Frequency Adjustment (Scan Mode)
- Press (and immediately release) the ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN key to scan (manually adjust) the radio frequency “up” or “down” by 1-step at a time.
- The radio digital display will indicate the exact frequency at each step's position.
- When a desired frequency or station is reached it can be saved into one of the memory positions. (see "Radio Memory" section).
Automatic Frequency Adjustment (Seek Mode)
- Press and hold (for 2 seconds) the ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN key to seek (automatically adjust) the radio frequency "up" or "down" to the next available radio station.
- The radio digital display will indicate the exact frequency of the next station that is found.
- When a desired station is reached it can be saved into one of the memory positions (see "Radio Memory" section).
Radio Memory (Station Preset Memory Storage)
- At any time the currently displayed station or frequency can be stored into one of the memory position.
- Press the MEM/PROG key (on remote control) once.
- Press the MEM+ or MEM- key to select the desired memory position to save the radio station (there are 10 memory positions for AM and 30 memory positions for FM band).
- Press the MEM/PROG key once to save the selected station into the selected memory position.
- To recall a station in memory, press & hold the FUNCTION key for 3 seconds, until the "MEM" icon is displayed.
- Press MEM+ or MEM- key to select desired memory station. Press the FUNCTION key again to have the keys control the volume of the unit once again.
- To clear the memory of any position, simply save a new station to the same memory position.
CD Operation
Insertion & Removal of Discs
- When opening the CD door, always ensure the disc is not in motion (not spinning) when you open the CD door. Always press ■ STOP key to stop the disc spinning first.
- Place a CD into the compartment with the label side (printed side of disc) facing upwards. Press down in the center part of disc until the disc "locks" onto the center spindle.
- When the CD has been placed onto the center spindle, gently lower the CD door downwards until it locks shut.
• The CD is now ready to be played. - To remove a disc, follow the same procedure as described above, except to remove the CD instead of inserting it into the compartment by placing one finger at the middle of disc (center spindle) and the other at the edge of the disc and gently pulling upwards.
Playing Discs
- Press the ON/STANDBY key once to turn the unit on.
- Insert a CD as described above.
- Press the FUNCTION key until display shows "CD".
- The CD will spin momentarily and the display shows the total number of tracks (songs) on the disc.
- Press the ▶I PLAY/PAUSE key, the first track (song) will start playing. The display will indicate the current track number ("01" if it is the first track).
- At any time during playback, press the ▶□ PLAY/PAUSE key to pause operation of the unit. Press the ▶□ PLAY/PAUSE key to resume operation at the same track & position.
- At any time during playback, press the ■ STOP key to stop operation of the set. This will reset the CD player to the first track (if you press PLAY after STOP, the first track will always start playing).
- At any time during playback, press and release the I◀ TUNE DOWN or ▶TUNE UP key to skip backwards or forwards by one track, as desired.

MP3 Discs
- Insert an MP3 CD disc and close the door.
- Press the FUNCTION key to select "CD".
- The disk will spin and perform a full check of the disc to count the total number of songs.
- Press the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE key to begin playback of the first song (track). The display will indicate the current track number (001).
- At any time during playback, press and release the ◀◀ TUNE DOWN or ▶▶TUNE UP key to skip backwards or forwards by one track.
- MP3 discs often have folders (sub-directories) which contain groups of songs. If your MP3 CD has folders you can use the FOLDER+ or FOLDER- key as desired. This is useful if you have many songs and you want to quickly jump to a particular song.
- Press and hold the FUNCTION key for 3 seconds and then press the FOLDER+ or FOLDER-key several times until you reach a song number near to your desired song.
Press ◀◀ TUNE DOWN or ▶▶TUNE UP repeatedly to arrive at the exact song you desire.
Note:
- The folder function only works on MP3 discs which have folders.
USB & SD Card MP3 Playback
- This unit is equipped with a USB socket which can accept and play MP3 files stored on standard USB flash drives (also known as “pen drives”) which are for memory storage (compatible with USB version 1.1 & 2.0).

This unit also has a built-in SD card socket which can accept and play MP3 files stored on standard SD type flash memory cards which are commonly available.
-
To utilize this facility first insert either a USB stick or an SD card into the correct slot (port) while the unit is in standby mode.

Press the ⏻ ON/STANDBY key once to turn the unit on.
-
Press the FUNCTION key repeatedly until the display shows "SD" or "USB".
-
After about 5-10 seconds the display will indicate the number of MP3 songs and also the number of folders on the device.
-
If the device has folders, press and hold the FUNCTION key for 3 seconds and then press the FOLDER+ or FOLDER- key repeatedly to select the desired folder number.
-
Press the ◀◀ TUNE DOWN or ▶▶TUNE UP key to skip forward or backwards to select the desired MP3 file in the selected folder.
-
Press PWAY/PAUSE to start playback of the selected song.
-
All functions for USB drive & SD card MP3 playback are the same as in CD MP3 mode.
Notes:
- A USB device must always be connected directly to the USB port of this product. The use of a USB extension cord is not supported by this product. The USB port of this product cannot communicate with a computer directly.
Although this product is fully compatible with USB 1.1 & 2.0 standards a small percentage of USB flash drives might not be readable due to those USB drive manufacturers non-compliance with the full (official) USB 1.1 / 2.0 standards. - The reading time for a USB drive or SD card varies depending on the speed of the memory device and the number of songs and folders. In some cases the reading time may be as long as 60 seconds.
- Always switch off the unit before removing a USB flash drive or SD card to prevent damage to your USB device or memory card. The manufacturer is not responsible for the loss or damage of data.
• Always insert only one of the devices (either USB stick or SD card), never both devices at the same time.
- This unit does not support USB MP3 players due to their inherent lack of software compatibility. Only USB “pen drives” (flash memory usb drives) can be used for MP3 playback.
- This unit supports USB flash drives and SD cards up to a maximum memory size of 4GB.
- In USB/SD mode MP3 files can be played. Due to numerous methods of compression it could be that some files cannot be played.
Program Function
The CD player can be programmed to play any sequence of up to 20 tracks for audio CD as desired. With a CD inserted always press the ■ STOP key before starting the programming.
- Press the MEM/PROG key. The display will show "01" and the "MEM" symbol will flash to indicate that the set is now in "Memory Programming Mode" and at the first memory position.
- Press the ▶TUNE UP or ◀TUNE DOWN key to select the track (song) number you wish to be stored in the first memory (program) position and press the MEM/PROG key (on remote control) to confirm your selection.
- When you press the MEM/PROG key the display will advance to the next memory position (eg. "02").
- Repeat the previous 2 steps, each time selecting any track number of your choice to be stored in the successive memory (program) positions.
- After a maximum of 20 songs (or less) have been selected as described above, pressing PLAY/PAUSE will now play back the saved sequence in the program memory.
- Also, the "MEM" symbol will remain in the display to indicate that you have saved a program memory (sequence).
- To clear (cancel) the entire program which is stored in the memory, simply press ■ STOP twice or switch the unit off.
Text Display (ID3)
- This unit is capable of displaying ID3 tags of an MP3 song on the LCD.
- To switch this function on or off simply press and hold the ID3 key (on remote control) for 2 seconds.
- ID3 tag display will only work if ID3 tags have been added to the MP3 files.
Important: MP3 file name format
Please take care to use only regular English alphabet letters (A to Z) and numerals (0 to 9) in the file names of MP3 songs. Characters such as “_” (underscore) and “” (space) may result in the files being unreadable or inconsistently unrecognizable by the player.

At any time during playback, press the EQ key (on remote control) repeatedly to choose the desired sound effect according to the music you are listening to:

Play Mode Function
At any time during playback:

AUX Input
You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.
- To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of this unit.
- Press the FUNCTION key to select "AUX".
- Switch the unit and the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
- Start playback of the external device and adjust the volume control of the main unit to the desired level.
- Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.
