How do I set the clock?

Ensure the unit is in standby mode. Press the CLK SET button. Use the ◀/▶ buttons to select 12h or 24h format. Press CLK SET again, then set the hours with ◀/▶. Press CLK SET again to set minutes. Press CLK SET once more to confirm.

How do I set an alarm?

Why is my CD not playing?

Check that the CD is inserted with the printed side facing outward. Ensure the disc is not scratched or dirty. Try cleaning it with a soft cloth from the center outward. Also ensure the CD is compatible (CD, CD-R, CD-RW).

How do I store radio presets?

Tune to the desired station. Press and hold the PRESET button until the preset number flashes. Use ◀/▶ to select a preset location (P01-P20), then press PRESET again to confirm.

How do I use the sleep timer?

While playing, press the SNOOZE button on the remote control repeatedly to select 90, 80, ... 10 minutes. The display shows SLEEP. To cancel, press until 00 appears.

Can I use a USB extension cord for the USB port?

No. The USB port only supports direct connection of standard USB flash drives. Extension cords are not supported and may cause playback issues.

How should I clean the unit?

Always unplug the unit before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents, as they may damage the surface.

What should I do if the unit does not turn on?

Setting a safe volume level

• If you continually listen to loud music, your hearing gradually adapts to it and gives you the impression that the volume is lower.
• What seems normal to you can be already for long time too loud and unhealthy.
• To protect yourself from this, set the volume to a low level.
- Increase the volume slowly.
- Damage to your hearing can be extensive and cannot be reversed.
• If you notice a hearing problem, please consult a doctor.

Condensation

- Condensation may occur when moving the device from a cold to a warm environment. If there is moisture inside the player, it may not operate properly. Don't turn on the device and wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.

Saving energy

- If the unit is not used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the AC socket

Power Supply

• The unit requires DC 9V 2.0A .
- Plug the supplied adaptor cable into the connector on the back of the unit and the other end into a suitable wall socket.
• Make sure that the output power of the wall outlet matches the required power of the adaptor.
- Adaptor must be plugged in to operate. The unit does not operate on batteries.

Basic Functions

Switching the Unit On & Off

1. Power the unit as described above.
2. The unit is now in standby mode and the time will be shown in the display.
3. To switch the unit on, press the STANDBY button.
4. To switch the unit off into standby mode, press the STANDBY button once again.

Clock Setting

The clock can only be set while the unit is in standby mode.

1. While the unit is in standby mode, press the CLK SET button. The time format will be shown.
2. Select between 12h display and 24h display by pressing the /←buttons.
3. Press the CLK SET button again. The hours will start flashing.
4. Set the current hours by pressing the /buttons.
5. Press the CLK SET button again. The minutes will start flashing.
6. Set the current minutes by pressing the /◀buttons.
7. Press the CLK SET button again to confirm all settings. The time is now set.

Alarm Setting

An alarm can only be set while the unit is in standby mode.

This unit enables you to set 2 separate alarms. You can select to wake to CD, radio or buzzer.

1. While the unit is in standby mode, press and hold for 2 seconds the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button. The symbol 📋 (or ) and the hour of alarm 1 (or alarm 2) will flash.
2. Set the desired hour by pressing the /buttons.
3. Press the ALARM 1 (or ALARM 2) button again. The minutes will start flashing.
4. Set the desired minutes by pressing the /buttons.
5. Press the ALARM 1 (or ALARM 2) button again to select the wake up mode.
6. Select between CD, radio, or buzzer by pressing the /buttons.

Activating/Deactivating an Alarm

- To activate a previously set alarm, press the respective ALARM button (1 or 2) while the unit is in standby mode. The alarm symbol 🔒 (or ) appears in the display. This alarm will now ring at the previously set time.

- To deactivate a set alarm, press the respective ALARM button (1 or 2) while the unit is in standby mode. The alarm symbol 🔒 (or ) will disappear from the display. This alarm is now deactivated and will not ring.

Checking a Set Alarm

- Press the INFO button to check at what times and modes the alarms are set.

Stopping an Active Alarm

- When the alarm is sounding, press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button to turn it off. The alarm icon will disappear from the display. You must activate the alarm again in order for it to function again the next day.

Snooze Function

The snooze function allows you to delay an active alarm for 9 minutes. To do so, press the SNOOZE button once while the alarm is active. The alarm will stop and come on again after 9 minutes. The alarm icon will be flashing during this period. To turn off this function, press the respective ALARM button (1 or 2).

Sleep Function (via Remote Control)

The sleep function enables you to set a countdown timer after which the unit will turn itself into standby mode automatically.

• While listening, repeatedly press the SNOOZE button on the remote control to select a desired countdown after which the radio will turn itself off automatically.
  • You can select 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 or 10 minutes. "SLEEP" will be shown in the display.
  • To check the remaining time on the countdown, press the SNOOZE button once.
• If you want to cancel the function, press the SNOOZE button repeatedly until "00" appears in the display. "SLEEP" will disappear from the display.

Equalizer Presets

While listening, repeatedly press the EQ button to change the euqalizer preset. You can select between Flat, Rock, Classic, Pop, Jazz.

Radio

1. Switch the unit on as described previously.
2. Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly to select "RADIO". The frequency will be shown in the display.
3. Select a desired radio station by pressing the ◀ button repeatedly.
4. To automatically search for the next available radio station, press and hold for 2 seconds the or ▶button.
5. If a station is broadcasting stereo, you can press the FM ST button for best sound. If a station is broadcasting in mono, it is usually better to turn FM ST off.
6. For the best FM reception completely unroll the FM wire antenna.

Radio Station Presets

This unit enables you to store up to 20 radio stations.

1. Tune to a radio station which you would like to store.
2. Press and hold for 2 seconds the PRESET button. The presets will start flashing (e.g. "P01").
3. Select a desired preset place from P01 - P20 on which you want to store the current frequency by pressing the left button.
4. Press the PRESET button again to confirm your setting.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 to store up to 20 frequencies.
6. To recall a stored frequency, repeatedly press the PRESET button until you reach the desired preset.

CD Operation

Playing Discs

1. Switch the unit on and select the CD mode by pressing the FUNCTION button.
2. Press the ELECT button to open the CD compartment.
3. Insert a disc with the printed side facing outward.
4. Press the ELECT button again to close the CD compartment.
5. The CD is being read and the total no. of tracks will be displayed.
6. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start the playback.

7. To temporarily stop the playback (pause), press the PLAY/PAUSE ▶II button once. Press the button again to resume playback.

8. To stop playback, press the STOP ■ button.

Fast Forward / Fast Rewind & Skipping Tracks

• To jump to the beginning of the currently playing track, press the ◀ button once. Press it a second time to skip to the previous track.
• To skip to the next track, press the button once.
• To fast forward the currently playing track, press and hold the ▶ button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.
• To fast rewind the currently playing track, press and hold the button. Once you reach the desired section of the track, release the button to resume normal playback.

Repeat Modes

At any time during playback,

• press the REPEAT button once to repeat the current track. "REPT. 1" will be shown in the display.
• press the REPEAT button twice to repeat all tracks. "REPT. ALL" will be shown in the display.
• press the REPEAT button a third time to deactivate the repeat function.

Programming Track Order

You may store up to 20 tracks in a desired sequence.

1. While in CD stop mode, press the PROG. button. "PROG." will be flashing and "P-01" will be shown.
2. Using the and buttons, select the track to be played first in the sequence.
3. Press the PROG. button again. "P-02" will be shown in the display.
4. Repeat the steps 2 - 3 to select up to 20 tracks for your sequence.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE ▶II button to start the playback of your sequence.
6. To delete your sequence, press the STOP ■ button twice.

USB MP3 Playback

This unit is equipped with a USB socket which can accept and play MP3 files stored on standard USB flash drives (also known as “pen drives”) which are for memory storage.

1. Insert a suitable USB flash drive into the USB port on the unit.
2. Switch the unit on and select the USB mode by pressing the FUNCTION button.
3. The USB flash drive will be read and the total number of tracks will be shown in the display.
4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start the playback.
5. To temporarily stop the playback (pause), press the PLAY/PAUSE ▶II button once. Press the button again to resume playback.
6. The basic skip and search functions are the same as in CD mode.
7. If there are several folders stored on your USB device, you can select between these by repeatedly pressing the FOLDER button.
8. To skip 10 tracks at once, press the +10 button.
9. To stop playback, press the STOP ■ button.

Notes:

• A USB device must always be connected directly to the USB port of this product. The use of a USB extension cord is not supported by this product. The USB port of this product cannot communicate with a computer directly.
• The reading time for a USB drive varies depending on the speed of the memory device and the number of songs and folders. In some cases the reading time may be as long as 60 seconds.
• Always switch off the unit before removing a USB flash drive to prevent damage to your USB device or memory card. The manufacturer is not responsible for the loss or damage of data.
• This unit does not support USB MP3 players due to their inherent lack of software compatibility. Only USB “pen drives” (flash memory usb drives) can be used for MP3 playback.
• Only MP3 files can be played. Due to numerous methods of compression it could be that some files or USB flash drives cannot be played.

This unit can wirelessly stream audio from any Bluetooth ^® device within approximately 10 metres. Obstacles such as walls and other devices may limit this range.

Simply pair the device and enjoy wireless playback and control from your compatible Bluetooth ^® device.

1. Switch the unit on and select the Bluetooth ^ mode "bT" by pressing the FUNCTION button.
2. Turn on the Bluetooth ^® function in your device. Please refer to your device's manual for further details.

3. Press the PAIR button.
   Pairing with a new device for the first time: BT pairing light flashes slowly. Connecting to an already paired device: BT pairing light flashes fastly.

4. Go to your device's Bluetooth ^® settings.

Add or search for devices. When the model no. "MC 6540BT" appears, select the device. If asked for a pass code, enter "0000".

1. Once a device is connected, the BT pairing light will be lit steadily.

2. You can now play music on your device, it will be heard over the unit speakers.

3. Next time you switch on the unit, it will connect to the last paired device.

Note: Only one device can be paired and played at a time.

Volume Control

Increase and decrease the volume using the VOL+ and VOL- buttons on the unit/remote control and using the volume controls on your device.

Note: If there is no playback, ensure that neither the unit nor your Bluetooth® device are set to zero volume and the right device for playback is paired.

AUX Input

You can connect the audio output of an external device such as an MP3 player to this unit to listen to the sound of that device through the amplifier of this music system.

• To connect the external device please use a standard stereo audio cable (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm plugs) (not included) to connect the headphone out or audio line out of the external device to the AUX input socket of this unit.
• Switch the unit on and select the AUX mode "LINE" by pressing the FUNCTION button.
• Switch the external device (e.g. MP3 player) on.
• Start playback of the external device and adjust the volume control of the main unit to the desired level.
• Remember to switch off the unit when you are finished using the external device.
