WARNING!

  • Entrust the dishwasher connections for power supply and water supply to qualified professionals.
  • The appliance must not stand on the supply or drain hose or on the electrical power cable.
  • The dishwasher must be connected to a water supply with a new set of hoses. Do not use an old supply hose.

Placement of the dishwasher

  • Before installation, unpack the dishwasher and dispose of all packaging according to label instructions, and make sure that there is no damage caused by transportation. If you find any damage, stop the installation and contact the vendor.
  • Do not install the dishwasher in places, where the temperature may dip below 0 °C.
  • When choosing a place for the dishwasher, make sure that you can load and unload dishes easily.
  • Place the dishwasher close to water supply and drain.
  • When moving the dishwasher, do not lift it holding the door or the front panel.
  • The dishwasher can also be inserted under your kitchen counter. Be careful when inserting the dishwasher in place that you do not squeeze the supply and drain hoses. Make sure that the dishwasher is not standing on the power cable.
  • Place the dishwasher on a flat hard floor. Use the adjustable feet to align the dishwasher into a horizontal position. The level horizontal position ensures greater stability, prevents movement of the appliance and limits vibration and noise. Correct positioning of the dishwasher will also make the opening and closing of the door easier.
  • If the dishwasher door does not close correctly, make sure the dishwasher is stable and level and if necessary adjust the level using the adjustable levelling feet.

Connecting the water supply hose

  1. The water pressure must be in the range of 0,03 to 1,0 MPa. If the water pressure is lower, contact a technician.
  2. Make sure that the supply hose is not bent or twisted.
  3. If the water pipes are new or have not been used for a long time, have at first flow out enough water until completely clean water comes out.
  4. Attach the hose to the water supply and tighten fittings.
  5. Check the tightness of the connection.
  6. Open the water supply tap fully before using the dishwasher.

ECG EDF 6023 WA++ - Connecting the water supply hose - 1

text_image Diagram showing two methods of removing a faucet from a drain, with arrows indicating the process.

Note: Some models use a safety hose with Aquastop system, which in case of failure of the appliance or damage to the hose interrupt the water supply. Never adjust the hose and prevent it being pinched or broken.

Connecting the drain hose

Connect the drain hose to the drain pipe and make sure that the hose does not bend or twist. If the drain hose is too short, contact an authorized service center to request a longer hose of the same material. Keep in mind that the hose must not be even with an extension longer than 4 meters. A longer drain hose would prevent proper functioning of the dishwasher. Attach the hose firmly to the drain pipe so that it will not loosen during the operation of the dishwasher.

text_image Min 570 Min 600 4 4 make sure that there is electrical and water lines er the kitchen worktop remove the top plate of washer with top plate not adversely affect the

If you want to put your dishwasher under the worktop, make sure that there is enough space under the worktop and the layout of the electrical and water lines permits this installation. If you consider the space under the kitchen worktop suitable for installation of the dishwasher (see fig. ①), remove the top plate of the dishwasher, see fig ②.

Attention: The space into which you place the dishwasher with top plate removed should be stable, so that it does not adversely affect the stability of the dishwasher.

To remove the top plate of the dishwasher, remove the screws with which the plate is attached to the rear wall of the dishwasher. Then push the top plate 1 cm to the back and remove it.

Use the adjustable feet to align the tilt of the floor (see fig. ③). Insert the dishwasher in the prepared space in the kitchen worktop. Be careful not to pinch the hose or the power cord.

Attention: When you remove the top plate, you can place the dishwasher in the space with dimensions marked in the figure 4.

Power connection

Before connecting the plug of the power cord into an electrical outlet, check the following:

• The outlet is grounded and complies with current standards.
- The outlet is suitable for the maximum power of the appliance, which is indicated on the rating plate.

- The outlet voltage corresponds to the one on rating plate of the appliance.

- The type of outlet matches the type of plug of the power cord of the appliance. Otherwise, ask an authorized technician to replace the improper outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips to connect the dishwasher.

WARNING

• After installation keep the instruction manual.
• The manual contains important information.

USER'S INSTRUCTIONS

Prior to first start of the operation

  1. Before starting the dishwasher, you need to check the following items.

• The dishwasher stands straight and firm.
• The intake valve is open.
- Hose connections do not leak water.
• The power cable is properly connected.
• The outlet is powered.
- The supply and drain hoses are not pinched or twisted.
- All packaging and labels are removed from the dishwasher.

  1. Set the water softener.
  2. Pour 1 kg of salt in the salt dispenser and fill it to the brim with water.
  3. Fill the rinse aid dispenser.
  4. Fill the detergent dispenser.

Water softener

The dishwasher requires soft water for proper functioning, that means water with minimum calcium content. Otherwise, limescale deposits may remain on the dishes and on the inner surfaces of the appliance. Hard water affects negatively the efficiency of washing, drying and rinsing. The water flowing through the softener is deprived of ions causing hardness and is softened to a level needed to achieve optimal results. The hardness of your water depends on the speed with which these ions accumulate in the water softener system. It is therefore necessary to regenerate the softener system so that it always keeps maximum efficiency. Salt added to the softener dispenser serves this purpose.

  • Use only the salt, which is intended for dishwashers. Other types of salts, which are not intended for dishwashers, for example kitchen salt would damage the water softener. In case of damage caused by the use of the wrong salt, the manufacturer is not liable for the damages.
  • Top up the salt, if possible, immediately before starting one of the complete washing programs. You will prevent corrosion due to left over salt crystals or overflowed solution on the bottom of the dishwasher.

Addition of salt to water softener

The salt dispenser is located under the bottom basket. Fill according to the following description:

  1. Remove the bottom basked and then unscrew and remove the lid of the salt dispenser ①.
  2. If you fill the dispenser for the first time, put in 1 kg of salt ② and fill it to the brim with water ③. Use a funnel ④ to make adding salt easier. Put back the lid and tighten it.
  3. Fill the salt dispenser after about 20 to 30 washing cycles (about 1,5 kg). Fill it with water only before first use.

ECG EDF 6023 WA++ - Addition of salt to water softener - 2

text_image Diagram illustrating a coffee brewing process with labeled steps 3 and 4 showing pouring, mixing, and drying stages.
  1. We recommend that you use finely ground or powdery salt. Do not use salt tablets in the appliance, the function of the softener could in such a case deteriorate over time.
  2. When the dishwasher is running, the space fills with water, therefore add salt before starting the dishwasher. The overflowed saline solution is immediately rinsed away under the wash program. If immediately after adding salt you are not going to wash the dishes, run a short program with an empty dishwasher to prevent corrosion caused by spilled saline solution.
  3. You can verify if there is enough salt in the dispenser by looking through the viewing window in the lid of the dispenser. The amount of salt is sufficient, if the window is green. Otherwise, you have to add salt.

Setup of the softener

The efficiency of the dishwasher depends on the water hardness. Therefore the dishwasher is equipped with a system which reduces the hardness of the tap water. Proper setup of the system increases the efficiency of washing. You can obtain the information about the local water hardness from your supplier or you can find the hardness using testing paper (if included).

  1. Open the testing paper package.
  2. Leave the tap water running (for about 1 minute).
  3. Dip the testing paper in the water for 1 second.
  4. After you take out the test paper, shake it in the air and wait for 1 minute.
  5. Set the softener according to the values measured by the test paper.
Level 1Without calcium
Level 2 Very low calcium content
Level 3 Low calcium content
Level 4 Medium calcium nm ni
Level 5 Higher calcium content

Attention: In case that you move house, adjust after moving again the water hardness according to the water quality in your new home. This is necessary for optimum dishwashing.

Using detergent

The detergent contains chemicals necessary to dissolve and remove dirt from dishes and wash them out of the dishwasher. For these purposes are suitable most of the quality generally available detergents.

Proper use of detergent

Use only detergents designed for use in dishwashers. Store detergents in a dry and clean place. Add detergent in the dispenser only immediately before you start to wash dishes. Fill the dispenser with the necessary amount of detergent only. Excessive amount of detergent can cause scratching of glasses and may lead to poor dissolution of the detergent. Contact the detergent manufacturer for more information.

Filling the detergent dispenser

  1. If the dispenser lid is closed, push on the latch to open it, see figure ①.
  2. The dispenser compartment is provided with marks, which allow to measure the amount of the detergent. You can fill in the dispenser at maximum 40 cm^3 of detergent.
  3. When you open the dispenser pour in the larger compartment B 25 cm ^-3 of the detergent (in case of heavily soiled dishes) or 15 cm ^3 (in case of less soiled dishes), see figure ②.

  4. When the dishes were left for a long time without being washed and the residue of food dried or if the dishwasher is filled to the maximum, pour 5 cm ^3 of the detergent in the prewash compartment A and start the dishwasher.

- Depending on the degree of soiling and the water hardness you may have to add more detergent.

  1. Close the lid of the dispenser and press it to close.

Using combination tablets "3 in 1"

General recommendations

These products are detergents with integrated rinse aid and softener (salt). In case of tablets 2in1 you have to watch what ingredients the tablets contain (if detergent + rinse aid or detergent + salt).

Generally, combination products are sufficiently effective only under certain conditions, because they contain a predetermined amount of detergent and rinse aid / salt.

What is necessary to consider:

  1. You should make sure prior to using these products that the hardness of your water allows the use of the tablets (see the recommendation of the manufacturer on the product package).
  2. These products should be used exactly according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. If these combination products are in tablet form, never place them freely into the dishwasher or the cutlery basket. Put them always in the detergent dispenser.
  4. If you encounter problems when using the product "3 v 1" contact the customer support of the tablets manufacturer.

Notes:

  • If you want to achieve better results when using combined detergent products fill the dishwasher with salt and rinse aid and set the water hardness and rinse aid dosage to lowest values.
  • The solubility of the detergent tablets from different manufacturers can vary depending on temperature and time, therefore we do not recommend using these detergents in short programs. Powder detergents are preferable for shorter programs.

When you decide not to use the detergent tables any more

  1. Fill the salt and rinse aid dispensers.
  2. Set the water hardness to the highest level and run a washing program on empty.
  3. Set the correct water hardness value.
  4. Set the matching rinse aid dosage.

Rinse aid

The rinse aid function

Rinse aid is automatically dispensed for the final polishing process and prevents spotting and streaking upon drying. Contrary to widespread opinion, it is used not only to achieve more polished dishes, but it also increases the efficiency of drying. Therefore you should take care that in the dispenser is sufficient amount of the rinse aid.

Fill and set the rinse aid dispenser

  1. Open the dispenser by turning the lid and then remove the lid ①.
  2. Pour carefully the rinse aid in the dispenser, until the rinse aid level indicator ② darkens.
  3. Insert the lid back and turn it to tighten it in place.
  4. If after washing are on the dishes drops of water or chalky stains, increase the rinse aid dosage. If there appears on the dishes white, sticky spots or on the knives and glass bluish coating, reduce the rinse aid dosage. You can set the dispenser ③ in the range 1 to 6. The dispenser is set by the manufacturer to level 3.

When to add the rinse aid

Dark indicator B means that there is enough rinse aid in the dispenser, while light indicator A warns about the necessity to add rinse aid in the dispenser.

Notice

- Wipe with absorbent cloth the rinse aid spilled during replenishing, to prevent excessive foaming during the next wash. Use only brand name rinse aids for the dishwasher. Do not fill the rinse aid dispenser with other substances. The dishwasher could be damaged.

Filing the dishwasher baskets

You will achieve the best cleaning results if you follow these instructions. The function and the appearance of the baskets can vary according to the model of the dishwasher.

Inserting and removing dishes from the baskets

- Remove larger food leftovers from the dishes. Let the pans with burnt leftovers soak. It is not necessary to pre -rinse the dishes under running water.

- Load the objects in the dishwasher as follows:

  • Objects such as cups, glasses, pots, bowls, etc. put in bottom up.
    – Lay diagonally the dishes curved or arched portions to allow water to run out.
  • Arrange all the object so that they cannot be overturned.
  • Arrange all objects so that the spray arms can move freely.
  • You can distribute tablespoons and teaspoons among the cutlery to prevent them from sticking together.

  • Place the glasses with long stems so that they lean on the edge of the basket or glass holder, not the on other items in the dishwasher. Do not let the tall glasses lean against each other, such a position is not stable and they could be damaged.

  • You should not put very small objects in the dishwasher; they could fall through the basket.
    • To avoid the risk of injury, keep sharp objects with a long handle (e.g. serving fork or bread knives) edge downwards or horizontal.
  • When loading the dishwasher, the bottom and the upper basket should not be pulled out simultaneously to prevent overturning.

Filling the upper basket

The upper basket is designed for smaller and more fragile items such as glasses, mugs, cups and saucers, plates, bowls and shallow bowls (if they are not too dirty). Load the dishes and the cutlery in such a way that they cannot be overturned by streaming water.

You can see an example of a suitable arrangement of dishes in the upper basked in the figure ①.

Filling the bottom basket

Larger objects and objects that are difficult to clean, i.e. pots, pans, lids, plates and bowls, should be placed in the bottom basket. We recommend to put the plates and the lids on the sides of the basket so as not to impede the rotation of the upper spray arm. Pots, bowls, etc. must always be placed upside down. Deep pots are loaded on slant to allow water to run out of them. You can see examples of suitable arrangement of dishes in the bottom basket in the figures ② and ③.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Regular cleaning of the dishwasher prolongs the life of the appliance.

Cleaning the external surface

  • Clean the control panel using slightly wet cloth. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
  • Never use sharp tools, abrasive powders or aggressive cleaners to clean the dishwasher.

Cleaning the door

- Use only a cloth dampened with warm water to clean around the rim of the door. Do not use spray cleaners to prevent water from penetrating the door lock or electrical components. Also do not use any abrasive cleaners or abrasive powders that could scratch the surface of the appliance. Even some paper towels can leave traces on the surface or scratches.

Cleaning the interior of the dishwasher

- Accumulation of grease and limescale can occur inside the dishwasher. In this case, clean the dishwasher as follows: Fill the detergent dispenser, select a washing program with high temperature and start the program without putting in any dishes. If this procedure is ineffective, use special detergents for cleaning dishwashers.

ECG EDF 6023 WA++ - Cleaning the interior of the dishwasher - 1

natural_image Diagram of a device with directional arrows and a numbered label (1), no readable text or symbols present.

Filtration system

The filter protects the pump against penetration of larger pieces of food and other objects. Remains of food may clog the filter. Therefore it is necessary to remove and clean the filter from time to time.

ECG EDF 6023 WA++ - Filtration system - 1

The filtration system consists of a fine microfilter A, a coarse filter B and a flat (main) filter. C.

  1. If you want to remove and clean the filtering system, turn it counterclockwise and pull it upward ①.
  2. Pull out and remove the flat filter ③.
  3. The remove from the microfilter the coarse filter ② and rinse the microfilter under running water.
  4. Return the flat filter back in place.
  5. Insert the coarse filter in the microfilter and align them according to the markings.
  6. Insert the microfilter in the flat filter and turn it in the direction of the arrow so that it is secured in its place ④.

WARNING

- Regular filter cleaning ensures optimum performance and washing results. The filter effectively captures particles from the wash water and allows the recycling of water during the cycle.

ECG EDF 6023 WA++ - WARNING - 1

text_image 4

- The dishwasher must never be used without a filter! Improper insertion of the filter may reduce the performance of the appliance and damage dishes and utensils.

- Do not tap on the filter when cleaning it. Deformed filter negatively affects the functionality of the appliance.

Cleaning the spray arms

Regular cleaning of the spray arms of chemicals from hard water is important because emerging limescale clogs jets and bearings. You can remove the upper spray arm by unscrewing the nut at the top of the arm. Remove the bottom arm by pulling it upward. Rinse the spray arms in warm water and clean the jets with a fine brush. After thorough rinsing put the arms back.

Water inlet hose filter

Inlet filter prevents damage to the dishwasher caused by dirt that could get into the appliance from the water pipes. Check the filter and hose from time to time and clean if necessary. To clean the filter, turn off the water and

remove the hose from the tap. Remove the filter and rinse it under running water. Put the clean filter in its place and screw the hose back onto the tap.

How to keep your dishwasher in good condition

After each washing

After each wash, close the water supply to the appliance and leave the door slightly open so that the moisture and odors can vent from the interior.

Disconnect the power supply

Before any cleaning and maintenance disconnect the power supply. Do not take a risk.

Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners

Never use solvents or abrasive cleaners to clean the exterior and rubber parts of the dishwasher. Use only cloth dipped into warm, soapy water. Remove stains and residue from the interior surfaces of the dishwasher with a cloth soaked in a mild vinegar solution or a special agent intended for dishwashers.

During vacations

If the appliance will not be in use for longer time, perform a wash cycle without dishes, disconnect the power supply, close the water supply and leave the door of the dishwasher ajar. This will prevent forming odors inside the appliance and you will save the door seal.

Moving the dishwasher

If the machine must be moved, try to transport it in an upright position. If it is absolutely necessary, it can be placed on its back.

Seal

Remains of food that gets stuck in the door seals are one of the factors creating the odor in the dishwasher. Prevent the formation of odor by regularly cleaning the seal with a damp sponge.
