⚠ WARNING

In case of extended working periods, the operating personnel may suffer circulatory disturbances in their hands (vibration white finger) due to vibrations. Raynaud's syndrome is a vascular disease that causes the small blood vessels on the fingers and toes to cramp in spasms. The affected areas are no longer supplied with sufficient blood and therefore appear extremely pale. The frequent use of vibrating products can cause nerve damage in people whose circulation is impaired (e.g. smokers, diabetics). If you notice unusual adverse effects, stop working immediately and seek medical advice.

NOTE: The specified device emissions values have been measured in accordance with a standardised test procedure and can be used for comparison of one electric tool with another. The specified device emissions values can also be used for an initial estimation of the load.

WARNING: The noise emission values can vary from the specified values during the actual use of the power tool, depending on the type and the manner in which the electric tool is used, and in particular the type of workpiece being processed.

Implement measures to protect against noise nuisance. In doing so, take into account the complete working process, including the times when the power tool is working without load or switched off.

Suitable measures include regular maintenance and care of the power tool and the insertion tools, regular breaks as well as proper planning of the working process.

7. Safety instructions

Warning! Read all safety information and instructions! Failure to observe safety information and instructions can result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries!

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-powered power tools (with a mains cable) and battery-powered power tools (without a mains cable).

  1. Work area safety

a) Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control of the power tool.

  1. Electrical safety

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

  1. Personal safety

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.

b) Wear personal protective equipment and always safety goggles. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, safety helmet or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or rechargeable battery, picking up or carrying the power tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting tools or spanners/keys before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e) Avoid abnormal postures. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust extraction can reduce dust-related hazards.

h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of power tools allow you to become complacent and ignore power tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

  1. Using and handling the power tool

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing tool attachments, or storing power tools. Such precautionary measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and tool attachments. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool attachments etc. in accordance with these instructions. Take into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

5. Service

a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Warning! This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain circumstances. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the power tool.

10. Commissioning

CAUTION

Please observe the legal provisions from the noise protection ordinance.

⚠ Attention!

Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!

Never work without a correctly fitted cutting wheel guard!

WARNING

Always remove the mains plug before carrying out adjustments on the product.

WARNING Risk of injury!

Do not insert the mains plug into the socket until you are ready to use the product.

10.1 Working instructions

Familiarise yourself with handling the cutter before starting work.

It is mandatory to carefully check the product for any damage before each use or after it has been dropped.

If damage is identified, it must be rectified immediately by you or an authorised service centre. Prior to every start-up of the product, check the following points:

  • Before starting work, check the work area for any hazards (electrical cables, flammable substances). Clearly mark the work area (e.g. put up warning signs or barriers).
  • Correct fit and direction of rotation of the abrasive cutting wheel.
  • Check diamond cutting wheel for damage.
  • Function of the clutch (no abrasive cutting wheel movement when engine at idle).
    • Function of the on/off switch.
  • Faultless condition and completeness of the guards and the cutting device.
  • Tight fit of all screw connections.
  • Smooth running of all moving parts.

10.2 Cutting metals

ATTENTION!

Wear proper respiratory protection!

The cutting of materials that may release toxic substances may only be carried out after notification and under the supervision of the responsible authorities or the authorised person.

CAUTION!

Metals are heated and melted at the point of contact by the rapid rotation of the cutting wheel. Swivel the cutting wheel guard down as far as possible to direct the flying sparks forwards, away from the operator (increased risk of fire!).

  • Determine the kerf, mark it and bring the cutting wheel up to the material at medium speed and only continue cutting at full throttle and increased pressure once a guide groove has been cut.
  • Only cut straight and vertically and do not tilt, otherwise the wheel may break.
  • A safe and smooth cut is best achieved by pulling or moving the product back and forth. Do not push the cutting wheel into the material.
  • Solid round bars are best cut in stages.
  • Thin pipes can simply be cut with a descending cut.
  • Treat pipes with a large diameter like solid rods. To avoid jamming and for better control of the cutting process, do not allow the cutting wheel to sink too deeply into the material. Always cut flat all round.
  • Worn cutting wheels with a small diameter have a lower peripheral speed at the same rotational speed and therefore do not cut as well.
  • Cut I-beams or angle steel in steps,
  • Strip steel or steel plates are cut like pipes; flat drawing, with a long cutting surface.
    • Always notch material that is tensioned (supported or walled-in material) slightly on the pressure side

first and then cut through from the tension side so that the cutting wheel does not jam. Secure material to be cut off against falling!

10.3 Switching the product on/off and operating it

WARNING Danger of injury due to kickback!

- Never use the product one-handed!

10.3.1 Switching on

The power tool must never be used without the supplied PRCD plug.

  1. Plug the residual current circuit breaker into the socket.
  2. Press the "Reset" button.
  3. A red symbol appears in the window to indicate that it is ready for operation.
  4. Press the "Test" button. In this case, a fault current is simulated.
  5. When functioning properly, the circuit breaker disconnects the consumer from the mains. This is indicated in the window by the red symbol going out.
  6. Protection for humans and animals can only be guaranteed if the system is functioning properly.
  7. The reset button must be pressed again to operate.
  8. The consumer can now be used.
  9. Hold the front handle (1) with your left hand and the rear handle (4) with your right hand. Thumb and fingers must firmly grasp the handles (1/4).
  10. Bring your body and arms into a position in which you can absorb the kick-back forces.
  11. Slide the switch lock forward and press the on/off button (5). The on/off switch (5) clicks audibly into place.

Note:

It is not necessary to keep the switch lock pressed after starting the product. The switch lock is intended to prevent accidental starting of the product.

Continuous operation is not possible.

ATTENTION

Wait until the product has reached its maximum speed. After that, you can set it up and machine.

10.3.2 Switching off

  1. To switch it off, simply release the on/off switch (5).
  2. Wait until the abrasive cutting wheel has come to a standstill.
  3. Pull the mains plug out of the socket when the product is not in use.

10.3.3 Overload protection

In the event of overloading, the product will switch itself off. After a cool-down period (time varies), the product can be switched back on again.

10.4 Adjusting the cutting wheel guard (6)

(Fig. 6, 8, 9, 10)

⚠ WARNING

Only adjust the cutting wheel guard (6) when the engine is switched off!

Make sure the cutting wheel guard is correctly positioned.

When working in different positions, it may be necessary to adjust the cutting wheel guard (6) accordingly.

Hold the cutting wheel guard (6) by the handle and pull it forwards or backwards to set it to the desired position.

Note:

Adjust the cutting wheel guard so that the cutting residue is guided away from the operator. This contributes to the safety of the operator and reduces the risk of injury from flying particles.

11. Basic working notes

⚠ WARNING

11.1 Use and handling

  • Before starting, check the condition of the product, in particular the cutting wheel and the cutting wheel guard.
  • Maintain the product carefully. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the product's operation. Have damaged parts repaired before using the product. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained products.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
  • If a blockage occurs, switch off the product immediately. Wait until the cutting wheel has come to a standstill. Unplug the mains plug from the socket and put on cut-resistant gloves to remove the blockage. If the cutting wheel has to be removed, follow the instructions as described in the "Fitting" chapter. After removing the blockage and re-fitting, a test run must be carried out. If vibrations or mechanical noises are detected during this process, stop work and contact an authorised service centre.
  • Have the product serviced by qualified personnel. Only use manufacturer's recommended original spare parts.
  • Start the cut slowly and apply even pressure. Avoid pressing too hard on the product.

    • Always work with a secure posture.
  • Do not work on a ladder - do not work in unstable locations - do not work above shoulder height - do not work with only one hand - risk of accident!
  • Change your working position regularly. Prolonged use of the product can lead to vibration-induced circulatory disorders of the hands. However, you can extend the duration of use by wearing suitable gloves or taking regular breaks. Be aware that personal predisposition to poor circulation, low outside temperatures or large gripping forces when working reduce the duration of use.
  • Take care in slippery, wet, snowy conditions, on slopes, on uneven terrain, etc. - risk of slipping!
  • Do not work alone - always keep within calling distance of other people who can provide assistance in an emergency. Do not allow any other persons in the work area - keep a sufficient distance from other persons to protect against noise and ejected parts. When wearing hearing protection, increased attentiveness and caution are required - the perception of sounds signalling danger (screams, signal tones, etc.) is restricted.
  • Clean the area of the cut of foreign objects such as stones, nails, etc. before cutting. Foreign objects can be ejected and cause injuries.

12. Transport

  • Switch off the product during transport and when changing location during work.
  • Never carry or transport the product with the engine or cutting wheel running!
  • Carry the product only by the front handle (1). The cutting wheel (9) must face rearwards.
  • Use a wheelbarrow or trolley when transporting over long distances.
  • Ensure that the product is securely positioned when transporting it in a vehicle.
  • Remove the cutting wheel when transporting in a vehicle.
