⚠ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

■ Before changing any accessories or additional parts that move during operation, the appliance must be switched off and disconnected from the mains power.

■ Never use the appliance for purposes other than those described in these instructions. There is a risk of injury if the appliance is misused!

■ Disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply ...

... when the appliance is unsupervised, ... when you are cleaning the appliance, ... when you are assembling or dismantling it.

If you use the appliance to purée hot foods in a pot, remove the pot from the hob and ensure that the liquid is not boiling. Let hot foods cool down a little to avoid scalding.

■ This appliance may not be used by children.

■ Do not allow children to play with the appliance.

■ Handle the extremely sharp blade with caution as it can cause injuries.

■ Clean the appliance very carefully. The blades are extremely sharp!

■ The appliance must always be disconnected from the mains when left unsupervised and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

■ Do not leave the hand blender in a hot pot on the hob when it is not in use.

8. Use

You can use the hand blender 6 to prepare dips, sauces, soups and baby food or to purée soft fruits. We recommend operating the hand blender 6 for a maximum of 1 minute at a time and then allowing it to cool off.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

Do not use the hand blender 6 to process solid foods. This will cause irreparable damage to the appliance!
▶ If you want to purée hard vegetables, such as carrots, either add some liquid or cook the vegetables until they are soft.

You can use the smoothie maker 7/8/9 to make smoothies. A smoothie is a kind of "whole-fruit drink". Smoothies contain processed whole fruits without the peel and core. This helps create a creamy consistency. There is no limit to the types of smoothie you can prepare: try adding yoghurt, crushed ice, herbs or ice cream. We recommend operating the smoothie maker 7/8/9 for a maximum of 1 minute at a time and then allowing it to cool off.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

▶ Never fill the appliance with hard ingredients such as nuts, stalks, large grains or seeds!
▶ Never fill the appliance with hot ingredients!

The following table serves as a guide. Use the recommended processing times so that the appliance does not overheat. If the ingredients are not cooked to your satisfaction after the recommended time, wait until the motor has cooled down before continuing to use the appliance.

Make sure that the MAX mark on the blender jug 9 is not exceeded when filling. If you process 400 g of ingredients in total for a smoothie, this corresponds to about the maximum usable volume of 600 ml. The type of food and liquids used influences the filling level in the blender jug 9.

9.2. Smoothie maker assembly

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

The blade is extremely sharp! Handle it with great care at all times.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

▶ Never screw the blade holder ⑦ with the blade ⑧ onto the motor unit ④ without the blender jug ⑨. Always fit the blender jug ⑨ onto the blade holder ⑦ first!

1) Place the blade holder ⑦ onto the blender jug ⑨ so that the blade ⑧ extends into the blender jug ⑨. Screw the blade holder ⑦ firmly onto the blender jug ⑨.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

To turn the blade holder ⑦, only hold the blade holder ⑦ and never try to turn the blender jug ⑨! Otherwise the blender jug ⑨ will detach and the ingredients will spill out!

2) Now connect the blade holder ⑦ (together with the attached blender jug ⑨!) to the motor unit ④. To do this, place the blade holder ⑦ on the motor unit ④ so that the arrow ▲ on the motor unit ④ points to the arrow ▼ on the blade holder ⑦ and the blade holder ⑦ locks firmly in place.

10. Operation

10.1. Using the hand blender

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

The food being processed must not be too hot! Splashing contents could scald the user.

If you have connected the hand blender ⑥ to the motor unit ④ (see section 9. Assembly), proceed as follows:

1) Insert the plug into the mains power socket.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

The bell at the bottom of the hand blender 6 must be completely covered with ingredients before you switch the appliance on or off. Otherwise the contents may splash out of the mixing bowl! Always insert the hand blender 6 into the food you are processing before starting the appliance!

2) Hold down the 1 button 2 to process the food at a normal speed. Turn the speed control 1 towards "Max" to increase the speed. Turn the speed control 1 towards "Min" to decrease the speed.

3) Hold down the turbo button ③ to process the food at a high speed. By pressing the turbo button ③, you immediately start processing at maximum speed.

If you hear unusual noises during operation, e.g. squeaking or similar, apply a small amount of neutral cooking oil to the drive shaft of the hand blender 6.

10.2. Making smoothies

Preparing ingredients

■ Remove all peels, such as orange peel or kiwi skin, from the fruit.
■ Remove large pits and stones, e.g. peach stones, from the fruits.
■ Cut the fruit into small pieces (approx. 1–2 cm).
■ Chop herbs or salads into small pieces.

i Note

▶ If you store the ingredients in the fridge until you prepare them, the freshly prepared smoothie will already be cold.

Filling the blender jug

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

▶ Never fill the blender jug ⚙ with ingredients up to more than the MAX marking! The appliance will not be able to process the ingredients!

i Note

For optimum results, we recommend always adding at least 100 ml of liquid to the blender jug ⑨ when preparing a smoothie.

1) Prepare the ingredients.
2) Add the ingredients to the blender jug ⑨. Always add liquid ingredients before more solid ingredients, such as fruit and/or crushed ice. Add light ingredients, such as lettuce, last.

i Note

▶ Do not use the appliance to crush ice cubes! Only used pre-crushed ice in the appliance.

Operating the appliance

Once you have filled the blender jug ⑨ and connected the smoothie maker ⑦/⑧/⑨ to the motor unit ④ (see section 9. Assembly), proceed as follows:

i Note

Do not start the appliance until the blade holder ⑦ with the blade ⑧, blender jug ⑨ and motor unit ④ have been correctly assembled.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

To turn the blade holder ⑦, only hold the blade holder ⑦. Never turn the blender jug ⑨ while operating the appliance! Otherwise the blender jug ⑨ will detach and the ingredients will spill out!

(i) Note

If you want to prepare a smoothie, turn the assembled appliance around so that the blender jug ⑨ is facing upwards. This way, you can make sure that the blade ⑧ constantly processes the ingredients and that the blade ⑧ does not run empty!

1) After filling the blender jug ⑨ and after assembling the appliance, insert the power plug into the mains socket.
2) Turn the appliance over so that the motor unit ④ and the speed control ① face downwards and the blender jug ⑨ is facing upwards. Place the motor unit ④ on a stable surface.

SILVERCREST SSSM 600 C2 - Note - 1

natural_image Diagram of a laboratory apparatus with curved arrows indicating rotational motion (no text or symbols)

3) Hold the blender jug ⑨ firmly with one hand.

4) Hold down the | button ② to blend the food into a smoothie at normal speed. Turn the speed control ① towards "Max" to increase the speed. Turn the speed control ① towards "Min" to decrease the speed.

5) Hold down the turbo button ③ to process the food at a high speed. By pressing the turbo button ③, you immediately start processing at maximum speed.

i Note

For optimum results, we recommend always adding at least 100 ml of liquid to the blender jug ⑨. If you pour in less liquid, or are not using a thin liquid, such as yoghurt, pieces of fruit may stick. If this happens, lift the appliance and shake it several times in an up and down motion so that the pieces of fruit come off and are caught by the blade ⑧. Make sure to hold the blade holder ⑦ with the blender jug ⑨ and motor unit ④ firmly so that the assembled appliance does not fall apart.

SILVERCREST SSSM 600 C2 - i Note - 1

natural_image Illustration of a hand holding a device with arrows indicating direction (no text or symbols)

6) Once the smoothie has reached the desired consistency, you can simply release the pressed button 2/3.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

▶ Do not operate the appliance for longer than 1 minute in one session! The appliance will overheat! After using the appliance for 1 minute, allow it to cool down.

7) Once the smoothie is ready, turn the appliance back over so that the blender jug ⑨ is facing downwards and the motor unit ④ upwards.

8) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

To turn the blade holder ⑦, only hold the blade holder ⑦. Never turn the blender jug ⑨ while operating the appliance! Otherwise the blender jug ⑨ will detach and the ingredients will spill out!

9) Remove the blade holder ⑦ together with the blender jug ⑨ from the motor unit ④. To do this, press the release buttons ⑤ simultaneously and lift the motor unit off the blade holder ⑦.

10) Unscrew the blade holder ⑦ from the blender iug ⑨.

11) Screw the lid ⑩ onto the blender jug ⑨. You can drink the smoothie through the closable drinking opening in the lid ⑪.

11. Cleaning

WARNING! RISK OF ELECTROCUTION!

▶ Always remove the plug from the mains power socket before cleaning the appliance.

During cleaning, never immerse the motor unit 4 in water or hold it under running water.

i Note

The blender jug ⑨ can be washed in the dishwasher. If possible, place the blender jug ⑨ in the top basket of the dishwasher. Make sure that no parts are jammed.

CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE!

▶ Do not use aggressive, chemical or abrasive cleaning agents! They could irreparably damage the surface!

i Note

▶ Ideally, you should clean the appliance directly after use. This makes it easier to remove food residues.

1) Remove the plug from the mains power socket.

2) Clean the motor unit ④ with a moist cloth. Make sure that no water gets into the openings of the motor unit ④. For stubborn dirt, add a little mild detergent to the cloth. Wipe off any washing-up liquid residue with a damp cloth.

3) Pull the sealing ring ⑪ out of the lid ⑩. If necessary, use a narrow, blunt object to help you.

WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!

The blade is extremely sharp! Handle it with great care at all times.

4) Clean the hand blender ⑥, the blade holder ⑦ the blender jug ⑨, the lid ⑩ and the sealing ring ⑪ thoroughly in washing-up water and rinse them afterwards in fresh water to remove any detergent residues.

5) Dry everything thoroughly with a dry cloth and ensure that the appliance is completely dry before reuse.

i Note

If you clean the appliance directly after use, you can usually achieve sufficiently hygienic cleaning results for the blender jug ⑨ and the blade holder ⑦ by using the following alternatives:

▶ Fill the blender jug ⑨ with about 400 ml of water and add a few drops of mild detergent.
Fit the blender jug ⑨ onto the blade holder ⑦ and screw them firmly together. Then screw the blade holder ⑦ onto the motor unit ④ (see section 9. Assembly).
▶ Press the button ② a few times so that the blade ⑧ churns through the water.
▶ Afterwards, rinse the blender jug ⑨ and the blade holder ⑦ with plenty of fresh water until all detergent residues are removed.

15. Recipes

15.1. Hand blender

Pumpkin soup

4 people

Ingredients

■ 1 medium-sized onion
■ 2 garlic cloves
■ 10-20 g fresh ginger
■ 3 tbsp. rapeseed oil
■ 400 g pumpkin (preferably Hokkaido pumpkin as the skin softens during cooking and does not need to be peeled)
■ 250-300 ml coconut milk
■ 250-500 ml vegetable stock
■ The juice of 12 an orange
A little dry white wine
■ 1 tsp. sugar
Salt, pepper

Preparation

1) Peel the onion and cut it into small pieces. Do the same with the garlic. Peel and finely chop the ginger. Sauté the onion and ginger in hot oil. After 2 minutes, add the garlic.

2) Clean the pumpkin thoroughly in warm water using a vegetable brush, then cut it into 2–3 cm cubes. (If you use a different variety instead of Hokkaido, you need to peel the pumpkin). Add the pumpkin cubes to the onions and ginger and sauté them. Add half the coconut milk and as much vegetable stock as necessary to cover the pumpkin. Simmer with the lid on for about 20–25 minutes until the food is soft. Mix everything with the hand blender ⑥ until smooth. Add coconut milk as required to give the soup a smooth, soft and creamy consistency.

3) Add orange juice, white wine, sugar, salt and pepper to taste to give the soup a sweet and sour/salty note alongside the spicy taste.

Jam

Ingredients

■ 250 g strawberries or other fruit (fresh or frozen)
■ 125 g jam sugar (2:1)
■ A splash of lemon juice
■ The pulp of one vanilla pod

Preparation

1) Wash and clean the strawberries. Remove the leaves. Put them in a sieve to shake off any excess water and to prevent the jam from becoming too runny. Cut up larger strawberries.
2) Weigh off 250 g of strawberries and add them to a suitable mixing bowl.
3) Add a splash of lemon juice.
4) If required, scrape out the pulp from a vanilla pod and add it.
5) Add the jam sugar and mix thoroughly with the hand blender ⑥ for about 45–60 seconds. If there are still any lumps, leave it to stand for 2 minutes and then purée it again for 60 seconds.
6) Bring the mix to the boil over medium heat, then simmer for about 2–3 minutes, stirring well throughout.
7) Eat the jam straight away or pour it into a glass jar with a screw cap and seal it firmly.

Mayonnaise

Ingredients

■ 200 ml neutral vegetable oil, e.g. rapeseed oil
■ 1 egg (yolk and egg white)
■ 10 g of mild vinegar or lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

1) Add the egg and lemon juice to the mixing bowl, hold the hand blender ⑤ vertically in the mixture and start the appliance. Use the turbo button ③.
2) Add the oil in an even, thin stream (within about 1 minute) so that the oil binds to the other ingredients.
3) Afterwards, season with salt and pepper.

15.2. Smoothie maker

Green smoothie – the classic

Ingredients

■ 1 medium-sized apple
1/2 avocado
■ approx. 80 g baby spinach
■ 100-150 ml water
■ 2 tsp. honey

Preparation

1) Cut the half avocado, the washed apple and the banana into pieces (approx. 1–2 cm).
2) Wash the baby spinach thoroughly and cut it into pieces.
3) First, pour 100 ml water into the blender jug ⑨, then add the pieces of apple and avocado, and finally the baby spinach.
4) Mix the ingredients until the smoothie has reached the required consistency.

Tip: Add more honey (alternatively, agave syrup) or a dash of lemon juice to taste. You can also chop some ginger and add it to the mixture. This way, you can give the smoothie a sweet, peppery or fresh note.

Fruit smoothie

Ingredients

■ 1 slice of pineapple (approx. 2 cm thick)
1 banana
■ 1 handful of raspberries (fresh or frozen)
■ 100-150 ml grape juice

Preparation

1) Cut the pineapple and banana into pieces (approx. 1 - 2 cm).
2) Wash the raspberries or defrost the frozen fruit.
3) First add 100 ml water and then the remaining ingredients to the blender jug ⑨.
4) Mix the ingredients until the smoothie has reached the required consistency.

Tip: You can also make this smoothie with other fruits: Try blackberries instead of raspberries or replace the pineapple with a pear.
