3 Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important information and notes on the operation and basic settings of the appliance.
3.1 Before first use
Clean the device as described in the "Cleaning and maintenance" section.
3.2Operation
PLEASE NOTE
▶ Wait for 2 hours before you switch the ice cube maker on. This time is required for the cooling agent to settle.
The recommended room temperature is 10 °C to 32 °C.
-
Check that the silicone plug is correctly inserted into the water outlet on the underside of the device.
-
Place the device on a stable, fl at surface.
-
Open the transparent cover (8) and remove the ice cube basket (1).
-
Fill the water tank (3) with fresh drinking water. Pay attention to the "MAX" mark.
-
Replace the ice cube basket and close the device cover.
-
Plug the power socket into mains power. The Power indicator light is flashing.
-
Switch the device on by pressing the "On/Off" button (15). The Power indicator light is steadily lit.
-
Use the Select button (16) to choose between clear and regular (frosted) ice cubes.
-
The corresponding indicator light will illuminate. By default, clear ice cubes are selected.
-
Depending on the water and room temperature, one cycle of clear ice cube production takes approximately 10 minutes, and regular (frosted) ice cubes take about 8 minutes.
-
Open the cover and use the ice shovel to remove the ice cubes.
-
Press the On/Off button to stop ice cube production. The appliance will enter standby mode.
PLEASE NOTE
During the first production cycles, the ice cubes may be small and irregular. After about 4 cycles, the ice cubes will reach their maximum size.
▶ Use filtered or distilled water to produce clear ice cubes. This will give you the best results.
▶ Clear ice cubes take slightly longer to produce than regular (frosted) ice cubes.
The device stops when the ice basket is full. The corresponding control lamp (11) also lights up. The device automatically restarts the ice making cycle when the ice cubes have been removed. It may take a few seconds before the device starts to work again.
The device automatically stops if the water tank is empty and the control light (10) also lights up. Press the "On/Off" button and fi ll water into the tank. After you have filled the tank, press the "On/Off" button again to restart the device. It may take a few seconds before the ice making cycle begins.
Drain any residual water out of the device when you have finished using it. Proceed as described in the "Cleaning and maintenance" section.

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.
4.1 Safetyinformation

ATTENTION
Please observe the safety instructions, before cleaning your device:
▶ Change water in the water reservoir every 24 hours to ensure a reasonable hygiene level.
Before cleaning switch off the unit and take the power plug out of the outlet.
▶ Never immerse the motor unit, cord or plug in water or other liquids and do not place in the dishwasher.
If moisture penetrates the appliance, electronic components may be damaged.
Do not use iron brush, abradant kitchen cleaner, or sharp cleaning tool for cleaning.

The appliance has a cleaning/descaling programme that can be used to flush and/or descale the water system. This procedure takes approx. 5 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE
▶ Important! Do not disconnect the device from mains power during the cleaning procedure.
- Cleaning: Fill the water tank (3) with clean drinking water, making sure not to exceed the maximum fill mark.
Descaling: Dissolve 2–3 tablespoons of citric acid powder in 1 litre of lukewarm water and pour the solution into the water tank. - Press and hold the on/off button for approx. 5 seconds to start the cleaning/descaling programme.
- The "Ice full" and "Power" indicator lights flash alternately.
- Once the process is complete, the appliance will automatically switch to standby mode.
- Cleaning: Drain the water from the appliance and fill the water tank with fresh drinking water.
Descaling: Run the cleaning programme at least 3–4 times with fresh water before producing ice cubes again. This ensures that no citric acid residue remains in the appliance.
4.4 Draining off residual water
To drain the device, place it on the edge of a table and hold a sufficiently large container under the water outlet. Remove the silicone plug on the underside of the device. Allow the appliance to dry thoroughly.
PLEASE NOTE

6 Disposal of the Old Device
Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

PLEASE NOTE
Utilise the collection point, established in your town, to return and recycle old electric and electronic devices. If necessary, contact your town hall, local refuse collection service or your dealer for information.
