before fi rst use
• Take the appliance and all accessories out of the package.
- Remove all adhesive labels.
- Before first use, carefully wash the lid, the rice basket, the 3 steamer baskets, the juice collector and the steam diffuser with hot water and washing up liquid. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Wipe out the water tank with a damp sponge.
use
- Place the appliance on a stable and clear surface (do not place it under a wall cupboard).
- Do not put the appliance or any of its components in an oven (microwave, traditional or electric oven), or on a stove.
- Place the steam diffuser (8) on the base (Place the notch of the steam diffuser down on the base).
- Fill the tank with cold tap water.
- Do not use other liquids. Do not put salt, pepper or any other seasoning in the water tank. This is to avoid damage to the heating element located in the water tank.
-
Do not exceed the “MAX” maximum level mark indicated in the tank or by the exterior water level indicator.
• There are two ways to fill the tank: -
Pour cold water directly into the tank,
-
Pour cold water into the tank through the base spouts.
-
Place the juice collector (7) on the base.
-
Place the food in the steamer baskets.
-
The steamer baskets have a number (1, 2 or 3) indicated on the handles. The baskets can be stacked from bottom to top in this order: 1, 2 and 3.
- Use the rice basket to cook rice (Refer to the “Rice basket” paragraph).
- Place the basket(s) on the juice collector. Cover the basket(s) with the lid (1).
- Plug the appliance into a grounded electrical outlet and then set the timer to the desired cooking time: steaming will start after a few seconds.
!
WARNING ! Do not touch the base, steamer baskets or lid when the appliance is running as these components become very hot. Use the handles.
WARNING ! TO PREVENT BURNS, USE AN OVEN MITT OR POTHOLDER TO REMOVE THE LID OR THE STEAMER BASKETS BECAUSE STEAM WILL ESCAPE. Remove the lid slowly, guiding the inside of the lid away from you, and let the steam escape gradually. Hold the lid above the appliance so the condensation can drip into the steam cooker.
Do not put your hand into the appliance while steaming. If you need to check the progress of cooking or mixing, use a utensil with a long handle.
- Regularly check the level of water in the tank. It should never be below the “MIN” mark. Add water when necessary.
- When done cooking, the appliance beeps.
- To prevent food from being overcooked, remove the steamer basket immediately using a potholder, and place it on a plate or an upside down lid. If you are using the rice basket, remove it carefully, holding it by the sides and, if necessary, use a kitchen utensil with a long handle.
• After use, unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before removing the juice collector.
!
- Take care when removing the juice collector: although other parts of the appliance may be cold, the water in the water tank and the juice collector may be very hot.
- Do not operate the appliance without a steamer basket or the lid.
Timer setting
- Turn the timer knob (13) to the desired cooking time.
- The indicator light (14) comes on and steaming begins after a few seconds.
- When done cooking (when the timer goes back to zero), the indicator light turns off and the appliance beeps.
The rice basket
- Pour rice or other food with a sauce or other seasoning into the rice basket (2).
- Place the lid (1) on top.
- Plug in the appliance and set the timer (13) to the desired cooking time.
- When done cooking, the appliance beeps.
- After use, unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet.
Cooking eggs
- Fill the water tank (10) with the cold water.
- Insert the juice collector (7), then one of the steaming baskets.
- Place the eggs in the notches provided for this purpose in the steamer basket.
- Place the lid (1) on top.
- Plug in the appliance and set the timer to the desired cooking time.
- When done cooking, the appliance beeps.
- After use, unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet.
Practical cooking tips
- Food cooks better when arranged in a single layer rather than in several layers. Therefore, the cooking time for a large amount of food should be increased.
- You can recover the liquid that has fallen into the juice collector and reuse it in soups, sauces and gravies.
- Never cook meat, poultry or seafood that is still frozen in the steam. Always thaw them completely beforehand.
- Frozen vegetables should not be thawed before steaming.
• Always place the larger pieces, with the longest cooking time, in the lower basket. - You can place different food in the upper, middle and lower baskets, but as condensation will drain from the upper basket, make sure the fl avours complement each other.
- If you are steaming meat or poultry and vegetables, always place the meat or poultry in the lower basket, so that the juice from raw or partially cooked meat does not fall on the other food.
- If you are cooking food with different cooking times, start by putting the food with the longest cooking time in the lower basket. Then change the arrangement of the baskets during cooking using oven mitts and be careful not to burn yourself. Put the lid back on top and continue cooking.
- Salt and season the vegetables after steaming for best results.
cleaning and maintenance
- Unplug the plug from the electrical outlet and allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning it.
- Never immerse the base, the power cord or the plug in water or any other liquid.
- Do not clean any component of the appliance with abrasive cleaners such as scouring powder, steel wool pads or other such products.
- Do not clean the transparent plastic baskets with the abrasive side of a sponge or a pad.
Cleaning the accessories
- Empty the excess water from the juice collector and the water tank.
- Wash the lid, the rice basket, the steamer baskets and the juice collector in hot water with added washing up liquid. Rinse and dry thoroughly. These components can also be washed in the dishwasher, in the upper basket, in a short cycle. (However, systematic washing in the dishwasher can cause a slight loss of external shine and tarnishing).
Cleaning the tank
- Clean the tank with hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Cleaning the base
- Clean the outside of the base with a damp cloth and then dry thoroughly.
- Never immerse the base in water or any other liquid and never put it in the dishwasher!
Descaling the tank
- After several uses, hard water deposits can accumulate in the water tank and on the heating element. This is normal. The amount of accumulated hard water deposits depends on the hardness of the water in your area. The appliance must be descaled regularly to maintain good steam production and lengthen its lifespan.
1st method:
- Fill the water tank with white vinegar diluted in water.
- Plug the appliance into a grounded wall electrical outlet.
-
The juice collector, the steamer baskets and the lid must be in place during this procedure.
-
Set the timer for 25 minutes.
- At the end of descaling, unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet and let it cool completely before emptying the tank.
- Rinse the water tank and the accessories several times with cold water.
2nd method:
- Place the steam diffuser into the water tank (Place the notch of the steam diffuser down on the base).
- Fill the tank with tap water up to the maximum "MAX" level indicated. Pour white vinegar into the steam diffuser at the same level.
- Do not turn on the appliance (to avoid a white vinegar smell). Leave to descale overnight.
- Rinse the water tank out several times with cold water.
storage
- Place the juice collector on the tank.
- Insert the steamer baskets into each other (No. 1 in No. 2, and both in No. 3).
- Place the rice basket in the upper cooking basket and place the lid on top upside down.
- Store your steam cooker in the original packaging in a dry place, free of dust and moisture.
