Product usage

Before first use

  • Fill the unit with fresh water up to the MAX level on the water level indicator, then boil the water 2 or 3 times (→Use). Discard the water after each cycle. This operation will eliminate any manufacturing process-created residue.
  • Due to the manufacturing process, the unit may emit a faint burning smell when first turned on. This is completely normal and does not indicate a manufacturing defect or risk.
  • Clean the unit ( Cleaning and maintenance).

Use

1 Place the unit on a flat, level and heat resistant surface.
2 Open the lid.
Pour in the correct amount of water, depending on the number of cups of coffee you would like. The number of cups is displayed on the water level indicator. You can brew up to 12 cups of coffee.

VALBERG VAL-TH90XB - Use - 1

Note: Always fill the coffee maker with water before turning it on. We recommend using softened or filtered water to prevent limescale deposits from building up.

Please note:

  • The coffee machine is equipped with an anti-drip system which prevents the coffee from dripping out of the filter holder whenever the thermal jug is removed for a short time during the coffee brewing process. Please note that you must replace the thermal jug within 30 seconds. Otherwise, the coffee could overflow onto the upper side of the coffee machine.
  • Once the water has been filtered, the coffee-filled thermal jug can be left to keep warm on the plate.

• After use: Unplug the power plug from the mains socket.

Product usage

Tips and tricks

  • A clean coffee maker is essential for brewing great tasting coffee. Regularly clean the coffee maker as directed (→Cleaning and maintenance).
  • Always use fresh, cold water in the coffee maker. We recommend using softened or filtered water to prevent limescale deposits from building up.
  • Store unused coffee powder in a cool, dry place. After opening a bag of coffee powder, reseal it tightly, then store it in the fridge to preserve its freshness.
  • To obtain an authentic coffee taste, buy whole coffee beans and finely grind them just before the brewing process.
  • Do not reuse coffee powder as this significantly reduces the coffee's aroma.
  • We do not recommend reheating coffee, as the coffee is at its best immediately after being brewed.
  • Clean the coffee maker whenever over-extraction causes a greasy appearance. The oil droplets found on the surface of brewed black coffee are the result of oil being extracted from the coffee powder.
  • This greasy appearance may occur more frequently when using dark-roasted coffees.

Cleaning and maintenance

  • Clean the unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Make sure that no moisture gets inside the unit while cleaning it.
  • Never use corrosive cleaners, wire brushes, abrasive scouring pads or metal/sharp tools to clean your unit.
    • Thoroughly dry the unit after cleaning it.
  • Store the unit in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children and pets.

Descaling

VALBERG VAL-TH90XB - Descaling - 1

WARNING

Descale the coffee maker on a regular basis. The descaling intervals depend mainly on the hardness of the water and the frequency of use. Only use descaling agents available on the market and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Fill the tank with water mixture up to the MAX mark on the water level gauge, then add the descaler.
  • Start the boiling process.
    • After boiling, discard the water and descaler solution.
  • Avoid pouring the water and descaler solution into an enamelled water basin. Do not reuse the same mixture. If not satisfied with the results, repeat the steps.
  • Descaler residue can affect the taste of the coffee. Run the coffee maker for 2 or 3 brew cycles with clean water to remove any residue.
