1. Information about this user manual
Thank you for choosing our product. We hope you enjoy using this appliance.
Please read the safety instructions and the user manual carefully before using the appliance for the first time. Note the warnings on the appliance and in the user manual.
Always keep the user manual close to hand. If you sell the appliance or give it away, please ensure that you also pass on this user manual. It is an essential component of the product.

2. Proper use
The kettle is designed exclusively for heating drinking water.
If using the appliance abroad, a mains adapter may be required for the mains connection (not included in package contents).
This appliance is designed for use in private households and similar household applications, such as:
- in kitchens for staff in retail outlets, offices and other commercial areas
• on agricultural estates - by customers in hotels, motels and other accommodation facilities
- in bed-and-breakfast establishments.
The appliance is not intended for commercial or industrial use.
Please note that we shall not be liable in cases of improper use:
- Do not modify the appliance without our consent and do not use any auxiliary equipment that we have not approved or supplied.
▶ Only use replacement parts or accessories that we have supplied or approved.
▶ Comply with all the information in this user manual, especially the safety instructions. Any other use is considered improper and can cause personal injury or property damage.
3. Safety instructions
IMPORTANT SAFETY IN-STRUCTIONS – READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!
WARNING! Risk of injury!
Risk of injury due to improper use.
- Keep the appliance and its accessories out of the reach of children.
■ This appliance can be used by children of 8 years and older, and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacity, or with a lack of experience and/or knowledge, but only with proper supervision, or if they have been told how to use the appliance safely, and have understood the risks involved if they use it improperly.
■ Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance.
■ Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are aged 8 or over and are supervised throughout.
■ Children younger than 8 must be kept away from the appliance and the mains cable.
- Keep all packaging materials used (bag, pieces of polystyrene etc.) out of the reach of children.
■ Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
DANGER! Risk of electric shock/ short circuit!
There is a risk of electric shock/short circuit from live parts.
■ Only connect the appliance to a properly installed and easily accessible socket that is close to where you are using the appliance. The local mains voltage must match the voltage stated in the technical specifications for the appliance.
■ The socket must be easily accessible so that you can unplug the appliance from the mains quickly if necessary.
■ Unplug the appliance from the socket:
- after each use
- when the appliance is left unattended
- when you are cleaning the appliance
- when the appliance or base plate is damp or wet.
■ Always hold the mains plug to pull it out, never pull the mains cable.
■ Only use the supplied base plate.
■ Do not allow the mains cable to come into contact with hot objects or surfaces (e.g. cooker hob).
■ Do not use if the appliance or the mains cable is visibly damaged or if the appliance has been dropped.
If the mains cable of this appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer (or relevant customer service) or other suitably qualified person. This is to avoid hazards.
■ Contact our Service team without delay if the appliance has been damaged during transport.
■ Appliances connected to the mains during a thunderstorm may be damaged by
power surges. You should therefore always unplug the mains plug during thunderstorms.

■ Check the appliance and the mains cable for damage before using the appliance for the first time and after each use.
■ Completely unwind the mains cable.
■ Do not kink or crush the mains cable.
■ Do not, under any circumstances, make any unauthorised modifications to the appliance or try to open a component and/or repair it yourself.
The appliance base plate must not be submerged in water or other liquids, nor exposed to running water or used in damp environments, as this may result in an electric shock.
■ Do not allow the base plate to come into contact with water or other liquids. Keep the base plate, the mains cable and the mains plug away from wash basins, sinks or similar.
■ Do not place any objects filled with liquid (e.g. vases
or drinks) on or near the appliance.
■ Never touch the appliance or the mains cable with wet hands.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
■ Use the appliance indoors. only.
WARNING!
Risk of fire!
The appliance will become hot during operation. Flammable items in the immediate vicinity of the appliance could catch fire.
■ Do not position the appliance over a hotplate or other heat-generating appliances (grill, deep fat fryer); this applies even if an extraction fan is installed above it.
■ Leave a little space between this appliance and other appliances or the wall to allow air to circulate freely.
■ Do not cover the appliance during operation.
■ Never operate the appliance underneath or in the vicinity of highly flammable items
such as curtains, drapes, paper etc.
■ Do not operate the kettle with an external timer or a separate remote control system.
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
There is a risk of scalding due to hot surfaces and rising steam.
■ Hot steam rises when the water boils. Do not reach into the steam.
■ Do not exceed the fill level. Boiling water could spurt out.
■ Do not open the appliance lid while water is boiling. Keep the lid closed during operation.
■ The kettle housing will become hot during operation. Therefore, during operation, only touch the kettle using the handles provided for this purpose.
■ Never operate the appliance without the limescale filter inserted to prevent hot or boiling water from spurting out.
■ The heating element remains hot for some time after the appliance is switched off. Ensure that the inside of the appliance is not touched.
■ The appliance features overheating protection (it will not overheat if it is switched on with no water in error). Nevertheless, take care to switch off the appliance after use.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage to the appliance!
Material damage due to im- proper use/incorrect appliance set-up
■ Place the appliance on a stable, level surface.
■ Never place the appliance on the edge of a table – it could tip over and fall.
■ Ensure that the mains cable does not become a tripping hazard and do not use an extension cable. Do not allow the mains cable to hang over the edge of the work-top.
■ Only use the kettle to boil clean drinking water. Do not
boil any other liquids. This can irreversibly damage the product.
■ Do not boil any remaining _NL water a second time.
■ Immediately remove any remaining water in order to avoid the formation of li-mescale or algae.
■ Do not use any aggressive chemical agents, scouring agents, hard sponges etc. for cleaning. They can scratch the surface.
■ The kettle is not suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher. Chemical additives in furniture coatings may corrode the material of the appliance feet and cause residue on the furniture ta-surface.
■ If necessary, place the appliance on an underlay that is insensitive to heat and water.
■ Do not use the appliance in potentially explosive atmospheres. This includes petrol stations, fuel storage areas and areas where solvents are processed. This appliance must also not be used in areas with particle-laden air (for example flour or wood dust).
■ Do not use the appliance outdoors.
■ Do not expose the appliance to extreme conditions. Avoid:
– high humidity or wet conditions
- extremely high or low temperatures
- direct sunlight
- open flames.
4. Package contents
DANGER!

There is a risk of choking and suffocation due to swallowing or inhaling small parts or plastic wrap.
- Keep the plastic packaging out of the reach of children.
Please check your package contents to ensure that all items are included and in perfect condition. If anything is missing or damaged, please contact us within 14 days of purchase. The following items are supplied with your product:

6. Before using the appliance for the first time
▶ Remove all packaging materials.
- Connect the mains cable (6) for the base plate to a domestic power socket.
To remove any potential residue from the manufacturing process, fill the appliance with water to the maximum fill level (MAX marking) before using it for the first time, boil the water and then pour it away for hygiene reasons.
7. Using the kett le
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
There is a risk of scalding due to hot surfaces and rising steam.
■ Do not overfill the appliance, otherwise boiling water can spurt out.
■ Do not open the appliance lid (1) while water is boiling.
■ Never operate the appliance without the filter inserted, otherwise boiling water can spurt out.
To boil water, proceed as follows:
▶ Press the lid opener (2) to open the lid.
Pour the required amount of water into the kettle. Fill with water at least up to the MIN marking. Do not exceed the MAX marking.
▶ Close the lid again.
Place the kettle onto the 360° base plate (6) so that it is firmly locked in place. You can place the appliance facing any direction using the centre contact.
Connect the mains cable for the base plate to a domestic power socket.
▶ Switch on the kettle by pressing down the on/off switch (4).
▶ Wait until the water boils. The appliance automatically switches off when boiling point is reached. You can, however, also switch off the appliance earlier by pressing up the on/off switch.
The appliance switches off automatically as soon as the kettle is removed from the base plate.
Remove the mains plug from the socket after using the kettle.
7.1. Safety device for overheating protection
The appliance is fitted with a safety device, which protects against overheating should the appliance be operated with insufficient water. In this case, the appliance automatically switches off.
Allow the appliance to cool down before using it again and fill the kettle (7) to at least the MIN marking.
8. Cleaning and descaling
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock/short circuit!
There is a risk of electric shock/short circuit from live parts.
■ Unplug the mains plug from the socket before you start cleaning the appliance.
■ Do not clean the base plate (6). Never handle the base plate with hard objects and never immerse it in water.
■ Do not clean the base plate/kettle in the dishwasher!
CAUTION!

■ Empty the kettle before cleaning.
- Allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning.
▶ Wipe the outer surfaces of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth.
- Rinse out the inside of the appliance with clean water.
Place the kettle onto the 360° base plate so that it is firmly locked in place. You can place the appliance facing any direction using the centre contact.
8.1. Descaling the kett le
To ensure that the appliance lasts as long as possible and the boiling process doesn't take longer than necessary, the kettle must be descaled regularly. We recommend environmentally friendly descaling with vinegar:
▶ Add a dose of vinegar to the water (0.5 litres of water and 40 ml of vinegar).
▶ Bring the liquid to the boil and leave to work for a short time.
▶ Then pour it away. Do not pour liquid with vinegar into enamelled sinks.
▶ After this, rinse the kettle (7) thoroughly with clean water.
▶ Ensure adequate ventilation during descaling and do not inhale vinegar vapours.
9. Storing/transporting
When you are not using the appliance, unplug the mains plug, empty the kettle and wind the mains cable around the mains cable winding on the underside of the base plate.
- Store the appliance in a dry, dust-free and frost-free place, away from direct sunlight.
Do not store the appliance within the reach of children.
▶ To avoid damage during transport, we recommend that you use the original packaging.
10. Disposal
PACKAGING
Your appliance has been packaged to protect it from damage in transit. The packaging is made of materials that can be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
APPLIANCE
All old appliances marked with the symbol shown must not be disposed of in normal household waste.
In accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU, the device must be properly disposed of at the end of its service life.
This involves separating the materials in the appliance for the purpose of recycling and minimising the environmental impact.
Take old appliances to an electrical scrap collection point or a recycling centre.
Contact your local waste disposal company or your local authority for more information on this subject.
