4. Proper use

Attention! The device may only be operated with the PRCD (residual current circuit breaker) installed at the factory.

The device can be used for common cutting work on small and medium-sized tiles (tiles, ceramics or similar) according to the machine size.

The device is especially designed for home and handicraft use. Cutting metal and wood is not permitted.

The device may only be used in the intended manner. Any use beyond this is improper. The user/operator, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages or injuries of any type resulting from this.

Only cutting wheels that are suitable for the machine may be used. The use of any type of saw blades is prohibited.

An element of the intended use is also the observance of the safety instructions, as well as the assembly instructions and operating information in the operating manual.

Persons who operate and maintain the machine must be familiar with the manual and must be informed about potential dangers.

In addition, the applicable accident prevention regulations must be strictly observed.

Other general occupational health and safety-related rules and regulations must be observed.

The liability of the manufacturer and resulting damages are excluded in the event of modifications of the machine.

Despite use as intended, specific risk factors cannot be entirely eliminated. Due to the design and layout of the machine, the following risks remain:

  • Contact with the diamond cutting wheel in the uncovered area.
  • Use of an incorrect cutting wheel. The cutting wheel included in the scope of delivery is exclusively permitted for the machining of tiles.
  • Reaching into the running diamond cutting wheel.
  • Ejection of a faulty diamond attachment of the cutting wheel
  • Ejection of workpieces and workpiece parts.
  • Hearing damage when the necessary hearing protection is not used.

The machine may only be operated with original parts and original accessories from the manufacturer.

The safety, operating and maintenance specifications of the manufacturer, as well as the dimensions specified in the technical data, must be observed.

5. Safety information

General power tool safety warnings

WARNING! Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

  1. Keep the work area orderly. Disorder in the work area results in risk of accidents.
  2. Take environmental influences into account. Do not expose power tools to rain. Do not use power tools in a damp or wet environment. Ensure good lighting. Do not use electric tools in the vicinity of combustible fluids or gases.
  3. Protect yourself from electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed parts, for example pipes, heaters, ovens, refrigerators.
  4. Keep away from children! Do not let other people touch the tool or the cable, keep them away from your work area.
  5. Store your tools safely. Unused tools should be stored in a dry, locked room and out of reach of children.
  6. Do not overload your tools. They work better and more safely in the specified output range.
  7. Use the correct tool. Do not use tools that are too weak or attachments for tough tasks. Do not use tools for purposes and work for which they are not intended; for example, do not use a hand-held circular saw to fell trees or cut branches.
  8. Wear suitable work clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. They can be caught by moving parts. Rubber gloves and anti-slip footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Tie long hair back in a hair net.
  9. Wear safety goggles. Use a respiratory mask when working with dust.
  10. Do not misuse the cable. Do not carry the tool by the cable and do not use it to pull the connector out of the socket. Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.

  11. Secure the workpiece. Use the clamping devices or a vice to hold the workpiece in place. It is thus held more securely than with your hand and allows the machine to be operated with both hands.

  12. Do not overstretch your standing area. Avoid an abnormal posture. Make sure that you have secure footing and always maintain your balance.
  13. Take care of your tools. Keep your tools sharp and clean so that you can work well and safely. Follow the maintenance instructions and the instructions for tool changes. Check the connector and the cable regularly and have it replaced by a recognised specialist when damaged. Check extension cables regularly and replace them when damaged. Keep the handle dry and free of oil and grease.
  14. Pull out the mains plug. When not in use, before maintenance and when changing tools, such as saw blade, drill and machine tools of all kinds.
  15. Do not leave a tool key inserted. Before switching on, make sure that keys and adjusting tools are removed.

Additional safety instructions

ATTENTION!

This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain conditions. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the machine.

Attention! The Tile Cutter may only be operated with the 10 mA PRCD (residual current circuit breaker) installed at the factory.

  • Wearing personal protective equipment is essential for all work with the machine.
  • Always wear protective goggles to avoid eye injuries.
  • Be sure to wear a hair net or a suitable work cap if your hair is long enough.
  • Wear tight-fitting work clothing. The rotating tool could catch sleeves or the like.
  • Never remove chips or dust with your bare hands.
  • When the machine is switched off, it is best to remove chips or dust with a hand brush or paintbrush.
  • Check that the protective devices function correctly before starting work.
  • Do not overload the machine, they work better and safer in the specified power range.
  • Use the correct tool and make sure that the tools (cutting wheel) are not blunt or damaged in any way.
  • Always lead the cable backwards away from the machine. Protect any cables from heat, oil and sharp edges.
  • Unplug the mains plug during repairs and maintenance and when machine not in use.
  • Work on electrical equipment may only be carried out by a qualified electrician. Only original parts may be used.
  • Clean workstations make it easier to work.
  • Pay attention to what you are doing. Remain sensible when working.

    Always keep the work area clean and orderly. Dirt and disorder in the work area can cause accidents.

  • Only use suitable diamond cutting wheels.
  • Never leave the machine unattended in rooms with children.
  • Disconnect the mains plug before checking the motor compartment electrical system.
  • Direction of rotation of the cutting wheel: Check the direction of the arrow on the cutting wheel, the direction of the arrow must match with the direction of rotation of the motor shaft.
  • Keep you hands, fingers and arms away from the rotating cutting wheel. Always maintain sufficient clearance from the diamond cutting wheel.
  • Only use diamond cutting wheels recommended by the manufacturer which conform to EN 13236. The use of any type of saw blades is prohibited.
  • Only use cutting wheels whose speed is at least 3000 rpm.
  • The cutting of metal and wood is not permitted.

  • Cooling of the cutting wheel: Make sure that the cutting wheel is cooled with water during the entire cutting process.
    Always fill the pan with water before working.

Residual risks

The machine has been built according to the state-of-the-art and the recognised technical safety requirements. However, individual residual risks can arise during operation.

  • Health hazard due to electrical power, with the use of improper electrical connection cables.
  • Before performing setting or maintenance work, release the start button and pull out the power plug.
  • Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still remain.
  • Residual risks can be minimised if the "Safety information" and the "Proper use" together with the operating manual as a whole are observed.
  • Avoid accidental start-ups of the machine: The operating button may not be pressed when inserting the plug in a socket. Use the tool that is recommended in this operating manual. This is how to ensure that your machine provides optimum performance.
  • Keep your hands away from the work area, when the machine is in operation.

Technical changes reserved!

  • The duty cycle S2 20 min (short-time duty) states that the motor may only be continuously loaded with the rated power (1200 W) for the time specified on the data plate (20 min). Otherwise, it would heat up impermissibly. During the pause, the motor cools down again to its initial temperature.

7. Unpacking

  • Open the packaging and carefully remove the product.
  • Remove the packaging material, as well as the packaging and transport safety devices (if present).
  • Check whether the scope of delivery is complete.
  • Check the product and accessory parts for transport damage. In the event of complaints the carrier must be informed immediately. Later claims will not be recognised.
  • If possible, keep the packaging until the expiry of the warranty period.
  • Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.
  • With accessories as well as wearing parts and replacement parts use only original parts. Replacement parts can be obtained from your dealer.
  • When ordering please provide our article number as well as type and year of manufacture for your product.

WARNING!

The device and the packaging material are not children's toys! Do not let children play with plastic bags, films or small parts! There is a danger of choking or suffocating!

8. Assembly / Before commissioning

ATTENTION!

Always make sure the device is fully assembled before commissioning!

Your machine is not completely assembled for packaging reasons.

  1. Remove the machine from the packaging and place carefully to one side on the ground.
  2. Unscrew the star knob screw (A) and fold the supporting feet down. Re-tighten the star knob screw (Fig. 3)
  3. Place the machine on the feet.
  4. Install the handle onto the motor housing using 2 hexagon screws (B) (Fig. 4).
  5. Secure the cooling water pump (13) into the prescribed position in the pan (4)
  6. Fill the pan until the water pump is completely covered with water. Ensure that the discharge is sealed securely.

9. Start up

ATTENTION!

Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!

On/Off switch (Fig. 4)

To switch on, press "I" on the On/Off switch (16). Before starting the cutting process, wait until the cutting wheel has reached the maximum speed and the cooling water pump (13) has delivered the water to the cutting wheel. To switch off, press the "0" on the switch (16). (Fig. 4).

Attention: The cutting wheel must always be cooled with water.

Attention: Cutting wheel runs on.

Do not brake the cutting wheel by applying lateral pressure.

During normal use, the motor housing may become hot.
- Do not force the machine or an accessory to do the work of a larger industrial machine. It does a better job with the performance it was designed for.
- Make all machine settings with the machine switched off.

  • Never leave the machine unattended when it is running.
  • When shutting down, only leave the machine after it has come to a complete standstill.
    Always switch the machine off before unplugging the mains plug.
    Always unplug the mains plug. Never pull the plug out of the socket using the cable.
  • Do not use a cutting wheel that does not match the specified sizes.
  • Never carry the machine by the cable.
  • Replace damaged or cracked cutting wheels immediately.

If you are not sure whether working conditions are safe or unsafe, do not work with the machine.

90^ cuts (Fig. 6-7)

  1. Loosen the star screw (C).
  2. Set the transverse cutting gauge (6) to 90^ and re-lighten the star screw.
  3. Tighten the wing screw (D) to fix the transverse cutting gauge (6) into position. (Fig. 6)
  4. Use the handle (11) to push the machine head (1) backwards
  5. Place the tile on the stop rail (7) on the transverse cutting gauge.
  6. Use the handle (11) to push the machine head (1) to the required cutting depth and fix the machine head again.
  7. Switch on the tile cutter. Attention: Wait until the cooling water has reached the cutting wheel (10).
  8. Use the handle (11) to pull the machine head (1) slowly and evenly forwards through the tile.
  9. Switch the cutting wheel off again once you have finished cutting.

45^ diagonal cut (Fig. 8)

  1. Set the angled stop (6) to 45^
  2. Perform cutting as described above.

45^ longitudinal cut (Fig. 9)

  1. Loosen the star knob screw (E) on both sides
  2. Angle the guide rail (8) 45^ to the left on the angle scale (17).
  3. Re-tighten the star knob screw (E) on both sides.
  4. Make the cut as described.

Replacing the diamond cutting wheel (Fig. 10 - 12) Attention! Pull out the mains plug

  1. Unscrew the screw (F) and remove the cutting wheel guard (9). (Fig. 10)
  2. Attach the Allen key (19) to the motor shaft and hold.
  3. Use the spanner (20) to unscrew the flange nuts in the direction in which the cutting wheel (10) runs. (Left-handed thread)
  4. Remove the outer flange (21) and the cutting wheel (10).
  5. Clean the holding flange carefully before installing the new cutting wheel.
  6. Insert the new cutting wheel in the reverse sequence and tighten.
  7. Attention: Ensure that the cutting wheel runs in the correct direction!
  8. Re-install the cutting wheel guard (9).

Adjusting the parallelism of the diamond cutting wheel (Fig. 13 - 15)

If the cut is not straight or the tile breaks along the cutting line, the parallelism of the diamond cutting wheel must be adjusted.

  1. At the beginning, the stop rail must be set at right angles to the guide rail. To do this, loosen the two hexagon socket screws (A) of the stop rail and align it squarely with a large right angle or tile.
  2. To do this, the diamond cutting wheel must run along the edge of the angle or tile for its entire length. Then retighten the two hexagon socket screws (A) of the stop rail.
  3. Disassemble the length indicator by removing both Phillips screws (B). (Fig. 16)
  4. Disassemble the cable fixing (C). (Fig. 17)
  5. Slightly loosen two hexagon nuts (D) of the saw unit on each side. (Fig. 18, 19)
  6. Now the complete sawing unit with diamond cutting wheel can be aligned to the stop rail using a right angle or a large tile. (Fig. 20)
  7. Tighten the hexagon nuts of the saw unit again and reassemble all machine parts. Check the parallelism and make a test cut.

If the test cut is still not satisfactory, carry out points 1 - 6 again.

10. Electrical connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions.

The customer's mains connection as well as the extension cable used must also comply with these regulations.

Damaged electrical connection cable

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

  • Pressure points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors.
  • Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed.
  • Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over.
    Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet
  • Cracks due to the insulation ageing.

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage.

Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are disconnected from electrical power when checking for damage.

Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables of the same designation.

The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory.

For single-phase AC motors, we recommend a fuse rating of C 16A or K 16A for machines with a high starting current (from 3000 watts)!

Connection type Y

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their service department or a similarly qualified person to avoid dangers.

11. Cleaning

Attention!

Pull out the mains plug before carrying out any adjustments, maintenance or repair work!

  • Keep protective devices, air vents and the motor housing as free of dust and dirt as possible.
  • Rub the product clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
    We recommend that you clean the product directly after every use.
  • Clean the product at regular intervals using a damp cloth and a little soft soap. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts and the surface of the product.

12. Transport

Before transport, the coolant must be drained completely. Do not use the machine's safety devices for lifting. Fold in the feet and secure the machine head with the transport retainers.

13. Storage

Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature lies between 5 and 30^ .

Store the product in its original packaging.

Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating manual with the power tool.

14. Maintenance

Attention!

Disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any maintenance work.

The device has no further internal parts that require maintenance. The ball-bearing machine head guide must be regularly cleaned of dirt. The pan (4) and cooling water pump (13) must also be cleaned regularly, otherwise the cooling of the diamond cutting wheel (2) is not guaranteed.

Rinse the basin (4) and the water pump (13) with clean water after use.

Maintenance work that is not expressly described in this operating manual must be carried out by qualified personnel, as hazardous situations may arise for which the operator is not prepared.

Replacement of spare parts may only be carried out by qualified personnel.

Connections and repairs

Connections and repair work on the electrical equipment may only be carried out by electricians.

Please provide the following information in the event of any enquiries:

Important note in the case of repairs:

When returning the device for repair, please ensure for safety reasons that it is free of oil and fuel when it is sent to the service centre.

15. Disposal and recycling

Information on packaging

Electrical and electronic appliances do not belong in household waste, but should be collected and disposed of separately.

  • Used batteries or rechargeable batteries that are not installed permanently in the old appliance must be removed non-destructively before disposal. Their disposal is regulated by the battery law.

  • Owners or users of electrical and electronic appliances are obliged by law to return them after use.

  • The end user bears personal responsibility for deleting his personal data from the old appliance to be disposed of.
  • The symbol of the crossed-through rubbish bin means that electrical and electronic appliances may not be disposed of in the household rubbish.
  • Electrical and electronic appliances can be handed in at the following places at no charge:

Public service disposal or collection points (e.g. municipal building yards)
- Points of sale of electrical appliances (stationary and online) provided traders are obliged to take them back or offer this voluntarily.
- Up to three waste electrical devices per type of device, with an edge length of no more than 25 centimetres, can be returned free of charge to the manufacturer without prior purchase of a new device from the manufacturer or taken to another authorised collection point in your vicinity.
Further supplementary take-back conditions of the manufacturers and distributors can be obtained from the respective customer service.

  • If the manufacturer delivers a new electrical appliance to a private household, the manufacturer can arrange for the free collection of the old electrical appliance upon request from the end user. Please contact the manufacturer's customer service for this.
    These statements only apply to appliances that are installed and sold in the countries of the European Union and are subject to European Directive 2012/19/EU. Different provisions may apply to the disposal of electrical and electronic appliances in countries outside the European Union.

Apparent defects must be notified within 8 days from the receipt of the goods. Otherwise, the buyer's rights of claim due to such defects are invalidated. We guarantee for our machines in case of proper treatment for the time of the statutory warranty period from delivery in such a way that we replace any machine part free of charge which provably becomes unusable due to faulty material or defects of fabrication within such period of time. With respect to parts not manufactured by us we only warrant insofar as we are entitled to warranty claims against the upstream suppliers. The costs for the installation of the new parts shall be borne by the buyer. The cancellation of sale or the reduction of purchase price as well as any other claims for damages shall be excluded.
