1 Explanation of the symbols on the product

ATTENTION

Before initial commissioning, read the operating manual thoroughly and be sure to follow the safety instructions!

It is recommended to attend a professional safety course “Electric chainsaw training course certificate of attendance” with a country-specific training standard on the use and maintenance of the chainsaw as well as a first aid course. If you do not use the electric chainsaw for an extended period of time and for practice, you should always make simple cuts in safely supported wood again before starting to familiarise yourself with the chainsaw.

2 Brief explanation – how to start a petrol chainsaw correctly

Cold start (steps 1–8) – Warm start (steps 1–3, 7, 8)

1 Remove the guide bar and chain	guard (25) from the guide bar (18).Push the front hand guard (1) forwards until it latches into place.
2 Set the on/off lever (10) to the “I”	position.
3 Press the fuel pump “primer” (23)	8x.
4 Pull out the choke (24).
5a Start the chainsaw using the pull starter:	1. Place the tip of your shoe in the rear hand guard (7).2. Hold the chainsaw firmly by the front handle (2) and pull the start pull cord (14) out slowly until you feel the first resistance.3. Now pull the start pull cord (14) and the engine should start. If the engine does not start, repeat the process until the engine starts briefly.
5b Or with the electric starter:	1. Push the battery (8) into the battery mount (9). The battery (8) clicks into place audibly.2. Fold up the cover (13a) and operate the electric starter (13b).3. Press and hold the electric starter (13b) on the electric starter unit (13) and hold it.As long as the choke (24) is pulled out, the engine will run for only a short time and then stop.
6 The chainsaw does not have a	start gas lock.Do not push a pulled choke (24) back to the “warm start” position by hand, otherwise the engine could start with increased idling.
7 As soon as the engine has stopped, actuate the throttle interlock (5) and the throttle (4) together. The choke (24) will automatically spring back to the “warm start” operating position.Start the chainsaw as described in steps 5a/5b.
8 Draw the front hand guard (1) back.

6 Proper use

The petrol chainsaw is designed for sawing wood only. The product is not intended for any other types of application (e.g. cutting masonry, plastic or food).

The product may only be used in the intended manner. Any use beyond this is improper. The user, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages or injuries of any type resulting from this.

An element of the intended use is also the observance of the safety instructions, as well as the assembly instructions and operating information in the operating manual.

Persons who operate and maintain the product must be familiar with the manual and must be informed about potential dangers.

The liability of the manufacturer and resulting damages are excluded in the event of modifications of the product.

The product may only be operated with original parts and original accessories from the manufacturer.

The safety, operating and maintenance specifications of the manufacturer, as well as the dimensions specified in the technical data, must be observed.

Please note that our products were not designed with the intention of use for commercial or industrial purposes. We assume no guarantee if the product is used in commercial or industrial applications, or for equivalent work.

7 Improper use

Do not make any changes to the product. Safety may be compromised as a result. The user, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages or injuries of any type resulting from this.

First-time users must be instructed to familiarise themselves with the features of the product. Attend a state chainsaw training course for your safety. The petrol chainsaw may only be operated by persons who are aged 18 and above. An exception to this is use by minors if the use takes place as part of occupational training in order to gain proficiency under the supervision of an instructor.

People who are not familiar with the operating manual, people under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication, and people who are tired or unwell are not allowed to operate the product.

National regulations may restrict the use of the product!

8 Safety instructions

IMPORTANT

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE USE

KEEP FOR YOUR RECORDS

The operating manual contains important notices on how to work safely and professionally with the chain-saw and how to avoid hazards.

8.1 General safety instructions

- Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the product. Do not use a product while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of carelessness when using the product can result in serious injuries.

The operating manual contains important notices on how to work safely and professionally with the chain-saw and how to avoid hazards.

• Before start-up, read the operating instructions for your product and pay particular attention to the safety instructions.

• Warning and information labels attached to the product provide important information for safe operation.

• In addition to the information in the operating manual, the general safety and accident prevention regulations of the legislature must be observed.

• Keep packaging films away from children, there is a risk of suffocation!
• Inadequately informed operators can endanger themselves and others through improper use. The operator is responsible for the safety of third parties.
• Be very attentive when handling the product. Go about your work sensibly and pay close attention to what you are doing.
• Do not work for more than 10 minutes at a time. It is advisable to take a break of 10-20 minutes between operations.
• Only lend the product to users who have experience with the product. The operating instructions must be handed over at the same time.
• Some cutting tasks require special training and skills. If you have any doubts, consult a specialist.
• First-time users must be instructed to familiarise themselves with the features of the product. Attend a state chainsaw training course for your safety.
• When not in use, the product must be set down in such a way that no one is endangered. Secure from unauthorised access.
• The user of the product is responsible for all accidents and hazards that cause damage to other people or their property.
• Children, young people and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities must not use the chainsaw. Exceptions exist only for young people over 16 years of age in the context of training under the supervision of a professional.
• Please note that improper maintenance, the use of non-compliant spare parts, or the removal or modification of safety devices can result in extended chain braking time, a higher degree of kick-back, damage to the product and serious injury to the person working with it.
• Always keep the product in good operating condition.
• Clean and maintain the product before storage.

WARNING

Engage the chain brake before every start-up (push the front hand guard forward).

WARNING

Always hold the chainsaw with your right hand on the rear handle and your left hand on the front handle. Holding the chainsaw using the opposite grip increases the risk of injuries and must be avoided.

8.2 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

DANGER

Danger of injury!

Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE)!

• Wear a safety helmet with face protection or safety goggles and hearing protection.
• Wear close-fitting protective clothing with a cut protection insert.
• Wear non-slip safety shoes.

• Wear protective gloves.

• Do not wear wide clothing or jewellery, which can become entangled in moving parts.

• Do not wear a scarf, tie or jewellery
• Tie long hair back in a hair net.
• Wear a safety helmet for all work in the forest. This provides protection from falling branches. Check the safety helmet regularly for damage. This must be replaced after 5 years at the latest. Only use approved safety helmets.
• The face guard or safety goggles protect against shavings and wood splinters. To prevent injuries to the eyes, you must always wear a face guard or safety goggles when working with the product.
• Wear hearing protection.
• Wear robust protective gloves made of tough material, such as leather.
• Wear a dust protection mask when sawing dry wood. Sawdust may form.
• During chain lubrication, a slight trace of oil is formed by the emergent oil. Pay attention to the wind direction and do not expose yourself unnecessarily to the lubricating oil mist.
• When working in the tree, the user may fall down. The user can be seriously injured or killed. Wear fall protection equipment.

8.3 Environmental safety

• National and/or municipal regulations may impose time restrictions on the use of noise-generating, motorised products. Ask your local administration about this.
• The product must not be operated indoors or in other poorly ventilated areas. There is a danger of suffocation due to the toxic exhaust gases / lubricating oil vapours.
• Work must be stopped immediately in event of nausea, headaches or visual disturbances as well as dizziness. These symptoms can be caused, among other things, by excessive exhaust gas concentrations.

Dusts such as wood dust, vapour and smoke can also arise during the sawing process. Good ventilation must be ensured and a dust protection mask must be worn

• Only work in daylight.
• Also, do not work in adverse weather conditions, such as rain or wind. There is an increased risk of accidents in these instances!
• Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
• People should keep a safe distance of at least 15 metres from the work area.
• Never operate the product while people, especially children, or animals are nearby.
• Do not work near wire fences or in areas with loose old wire.
• Have fire extinguishers ready when working in highly flammable environments such as dry grass, etc. There is a risk of fire!

8.4 Vibrations

• Wear warm clothing when working in cold environments and keep your hands warm and dry.
  • Take regular breaks and move your hands to promote circulation.
• Limit the use of high-vibration tools per day and spread them out over several days. Make a work plan that limits the vibration load.
• Ensure as little vibration as possible of the product via regular maintenance and stable parts on the product.
• Replace worn components immediately.
• Change your working position regularly. If the product is to be used or operated frequently, you, should contact your specialist dealer and request anti-vibration accessories (handles) if applicable.

In case of extended working periods, the operating personnel may suffer circulatory disturbances in their hands (vibration white finger) due to vibrations.

Raynaud's syndrome is a vascular disease that causes the small blood vessels on the fingers and toes to cramp in spasms. The affected areas are no longer supplied with sufficient blood and therefore appear extremely pale. The frequent use of vibrating products can cause nerve damage in people whose circulation is impaired (e.g. smokers, diabetics).

If you notice unusual adverse effects, stop working immediately and seek medical advice.

8.5 Precautionary measures against kick-back

WARNING

Watch out for kick-back when working with the product. There is a danger of injury. Avoid kick-backs through caution and correct sawing technique.

• Touching with the rail tip can sometimes lead to an unexpected backward reaction, whereby the guide rail whips up and in the direction of the user.
• Kick-back can arise if the tip of the guide rail touches an object or if the wood bends and the saw chain jams in the cut.
• Before the saw chain is guided into the cutting area, it can slip away to the side or jump up.
• (Attention! Increased risk of kickback!)
• If the saw chain jams on the top edge of the guide rail, the chainsaw can jerk back suddenly in the direction of the operator in an uncontrolled manner.
• If the saw chain jams on the lower edge of the guide rail, the chainsaw can jerk forward suddenly away from the operator in an uncontrolled manner.
• Be extremely careful when using the saw chain of the chainsaw to continue cutting into a cut that has already been started.
• Do not saw branches or pieces of wood that could change their position during the sawing process or where the cut closes during the sawing process.
• Each of these reactions can lead to you losing control of the saw and possibly suffering a serious injury. Never rely solely on the safety equipment integrated in the chainsaw. As a chainsaw user, take various measures to work without accidents and injuries.

Kickback is the result of incorrect use or misuse of the saw. It can be prevented by suitable precautionary measures, as described in the following.

- Hold the saw firmly with both hands, with the thumbs and fingers enclosing the product's handles. Bring your body and arms into a position in which you can absorb the kick-back forces. If suitable measures are implemented, the user will be able to withstand the kick-back forces. Never let go of the product.

- Avoid an unusual body stance and never saw above shoulder height. This will help to avoid unintentional contact with the rail tip, and enable improved control of the chainsaw in unexpected situations.

• Always use replacement guide rails and saw chains prescribed by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement rails and saw chains may cause the chain to break and/or lead to kick-back.
• Adhere to the instructions of the manufacturer when sharpening and maintaining the saw chain. If the depth limiter is too low, this increases the tendency towards kickback.
• Do not saw with the tip of the guide bar. There is a risk of kick-back.
• Make sure that there are no nails or metal pieces in the cutting area. Pay special attention to nails or pieces of iron around the cutting area.
• Also be careful when sawing hardwoods where the saw chain can get caught. This can cause kick-back.
• Start cutting at full power and always keep the chainsaw at maximum speed while sawing.
  • Make sure that there are no objects on the floor that you can trip over.

Residual risks

The product has been built according to state-of-the-art and the recognised technical safety rules. However, individual residual risks can arise during operation.

• Damage to hearing if the stipulated hearing protection is not worn.
• Residual risks can be minimised if the "Safety Instructions" and the "Intended Use" together with the operating manual as a whole are observed.
• Use the product in the way that is recommended in this operating manual. This is how to ensure that your product provides optimum performance.
• Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still remain.

Contact with the saw chain can lead to fatal cuts. Never touch the saw chain with your hands while it is running.

Kick-back can lead to fatal cuts.

WARNING

The chain and guide rail heat up during operation.

WARNING

This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain circumstances. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the power tool.

• Is the product being properly used.

• Is the product in good working order.
- Sharpness of the cutting tool and is the cutting tool the correct one.
- Are the handles or, if applicable, the optional anti-vibration handles installed and firmly attached to the product.

10 Unpacking

WARNING

The product and the packaging material are not children's toys!

Do not let children play with plastic bags, films or small parts! There is a danger of choking or suffocating!

• Open the packaging and carefully remove the product.
• Remove the packaging material, as well as the packaging and transport safety devices (if present).
• Check whether the scope of delivery is complete.
• Check the product and accessory parts for transport damage. Immediately report any damage to the transport company that delivered the Product. Later claims will not be recognised.
• If possible, keep the packaging until the expiry of the warranty period.
• Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.
• With accessories as well as wearing parts and replacement parts use only original parts. Spare parts can be obtained from your specialist dealer.
• When ordering please provide our article number as well as type and year of manufacture for the product.

11 Before commissioning

ATTENTION

Always carry out assembly and adjustments on the product with the engine switched off and disconnect the spark plug connector.

ATTENTION

The product is delivered without fuel/oil mixture. It is therefore essential to fill with fuel/oil mixture before commissioning. Use only a mixture of unleaded fuel (min. RON 95) and special 2-stroke engine oil (JASO FD/ISO L EGD).

WARNING

Do not use fuel that has not been correctly mixed with 2-stroke oil. This may cause permanent engine damage and will void the manufacturer's warranty on this product. Never use a fuel mixture that has been stored for more than 90 days.

WARNING

Health hazard!

Inhalation of fuel / lubricating oil vapours and exhaust gases can cause serious damage to health, unconsciousness and in extreme cases death.

- Do not breathe fuel / lubricating oil vapours and exhaust gases.

- Operate the product outdoors only.

WARNING

Fuels and fuel vapours are flammable and can cause serious damage if they are inhaled or come into contact with the skin. You should therefore exercise caution when handling fuel, and ensure good ventilation.

WARNING

Petrol and the fuel-oil mixture are highly flammable!

Notes:

- Place the product on a level, even surface.

- Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.

It is mandatory to carefully check the product for any damage before each use or after it has been dropped. If damage is identified, it must be rectified immediately by you or an authorised service centre.

The following points must be observed to ensure that the product functions perfectly and has a long service life:

• Correct seating of the guide rail.
• Installation/running direction, as well as flawless (sharp) saw chain.
• Tension of the saw chain (check and readjust several times if the chain is new).
  • Function of the chain lubrication.
  • Function of the chain brake.
• Function of the coupling (chain does not move when idle).

11.1 Mixing fuel (Fig. 2)

WARNING

Avoid direct skin contact with fuel and inhalation of fuel vapours.

1. The engine must be operated with a fuel mixture of fuel and engine oil.
2. Use only a mixture of unleaded fuel (min. RON 95) and special 2-stroke engine oil (JASO FD/ISO L EGD).
3. Mix the fuel mixture as per the fuel mixing table.
4. Put the correct amount of fuel and 2-stroke oil into the enclosed oil-petrol mixing bottle (28). Refer to 11.1.1.
5. Then shake the oil-petrol mixing bottle (28) well.

11.1.1 Fuel mixture

Note:

Do not mix the fuel mixture in the tank.

Add the 2-stroke oil in accordance with the fuel mixture table.

11.2 Filling in fuel (Fig. 3)

Only fill the fuel when the engine is switched off and has cooled down. Do not smoke when refuelling the product.

When filling, fuel may ignite and even explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.

• Always use fresh fuel/oil mixture.
- Keep heat, flames and sparks away.
- Only fill up with fuel outdoors.
- Wear protective gloves.
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
- Start the product at a distance of at least 3 m from the fuel filling point.
- Watch out for leaks. If fuel is leaking, do not start the engine.
- Use a suitable funnel or filler pipe for refuelling so that no fuel can spill onto the combustion engine and housing.

Do not overfill the fuel tank!

Note:

Also check the saw chain oil after each fuel fill.

1. Mix the fuel as described in 11.1.
2. Always clean the area around the fuel tank cap (11) before filling to prevent dirt from falling into the fuel tank (12). Use a dry, lint-free cloth for this purpose.

3. Lay the product on its side with the tank cover (11) facing upwards.

4. Open the bracket (11a).

5. Turn the chain oil tank cap (11) anti-clockwise and open it. The fuel filler cap (11) is connected to an anti-loss device in the fuel tank (12) and thus cannot fall off.

6. Pour the fuel mixture into the fuel tank. Do not spill fuel when refuelling and do not fill the fuel tank to the brim.

7. Always wipe up spilled fuel immediately.

8. Turn the tank cover (11) clockwise to close it.

9. Close the bracket (11a) again.

11.2.1 Check the level of the fuel/oil mixture (Fig. 1)

1. Check the fuel level using the level indicator (12a).
2. Add fuel if the fuel level is too low.
3. Pay attention to the correct mixing ratio!

11.3 Topping up saw chain oil (27)

(Fig. 2, 4)

WARNING

Only fill the saw chain oil when the engine is switched off and has cooled down. There is a risk of fire!

Never work without chain lubrication! If the saw chain runs dry, the set of blade and saw chain will be irreparably destroyed in a short time.

Always check chain lubrication before working.

Note:

• Use only saw chain oil. Preferably biodegradable.
• Do not use waste oil, engine oil, etc. Check that the chain lubrication is working during the work.
• Always clean the area around the oil tank cover (16) before filling to prevent dirt from falling into the oil tank (15). Use a dry, lint-free cloth for this purpose.
• Lay the product on its side with the oil tank cover (16) facing upwards.
• Open the bracket (16a).
• Turn the chain oil tank cover (16) anti-clockwise and open it. The oil tank cover (16) is connected to an anti-loss device in the oil tank (15) and thus cannot fall off.
• Pour the supplied saw chain oil (27) into the oil tank (15). Do not spill saw chain oil (27) when refuelling and do not fill the oil tank (15) to the brim.
• Wipe up spilled saw chain oil (27) immediately.
• Turn the oil tank cover (16) clockwise to close it.
• Close the bracket (16a) again.

11.4 Tensioning and checking the saw chain (17) (Fig. 1, 2, 12)

WARNING

Danger of injury when handling the saw chain or the blade!

- Wear cut-resistant gloves.

Note:

• A new saw chain stretches and needs to be re-tensioned more often. Check and adjust the chain tension regularly after each cut.
• Before tensioning, loosen the two fixing nuts (22a) a little with the installation spanner (29).
• Turn the chain tensioning screw (21) clockwise with the installation spanner (29) to increase the tension.

• Tighten the two fixing nuts (22a) with the installation spanner (29).

• The saw chain (17) must be in contact with the underside of the guide rail. Check whether the saw chain (17) can be pulled over the guide rail (18) by hand (with the chain brake released, pull the front hand guard (1) back).

11.5 Inserting/removing the battery (8) in the battery mount (9) (Fig. 5, 6)

CAUTION

Danger of injury!

Do not insert the battery until the product is ready for use.

Inserting the battery

1. Ensure that the battery (8) is sufficiently charged.
2. Push the battery (8) into the battery mount (9). The battery (8) clicks into place audibly.

Removing the battery

1. Press the unlocking button (8a) of the battery (8) and remove the battery (8) from the battery mount (9).

11.6 Safety devices (Fig. 1)

- Chain brake/front hand guard (1)

• Safety devices that stop the saw chain immediately in the event of kick-back.
• The chain brake can also be actuated manually.
• Protects the left operator's left hand if it slips off the front handle.

- Throttle interlock (5)

- Prevents unintentional acceleration. The throttle can only be operated when the throttle interlock has been deliberately released.

• Rear hand guard (7)
• Protects the hands from branches and twigs and if the chain jumps off.
• Saw chain (17) with low kick-back
  – Helps you to intercept kick-backs with specially developed safety devices.
• Claw stop (19)
• Reinforces stability when vertical cuts are performed and makes sawing easier.
• Chain catcher (20)
  – Catches the saw chain if it breaks or comes off.

12 Operation (Fig. 1)

Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE)!

• Wear a safety helmet with face protection or safety goggles and hearing protection.
• Wear close-fitting protective clothing with a cut protection insert.
• Wear non-slip safety shoes.
• Wear protective gloves.

WARNING

Please observe the legal provisions from the noise protection ordinance.

Note:

The chainsaw does not have a start gas lock.

Therefore, only deactivate a pulled choke (24) using the throttle lock (5) and throttle lever (4).

The choke(24) will then automatically spring back to the “warm start” operating position.

Do not push a pulled choke (24) back to the “warm start” position by hand, otherwise the engine could start with increased idling.

Working instructions

Familiarise yourself with handling the chainsaw before use.

It is mandatory to carefully check the product for any damage before each use or after it has been dropped. If damage is identified, it must be rectified immediately by you or an authorised service centre.

The following points must be observed to ensure that the product functions perfectly and has a long service life:

• Correct seating of the guide rail
• Check the installation/running direction as well as a perfect (sharp) saw chain.
• Tension of the saw chain (check and readjust several times if the chain is new)
  • Function of the chain lubrication
  • Function of the chain brake
• Check the function of the coupling. The saw chain should not move when idle.
• Leak-tightness of the fuel system
• Faultless condition and completeness of the guards and the cutting device
• All screw connections are tight.
• Smooth running of all moving parts.

12.1 Chain brake (Fig. 1, 7)

WARNING

The chain brake must be checked before each use.

The chain brake brakes the saw chain immediately in the event of kick-back.

WARNING

Product damage!

Increased motor speed for too long with the chain brake locked will damage the motor and the saw chain drive.

If the saw chain still moves, contact the customer service.

12.1.1 Activating the chain brake/front hand guard (1)

1. Do not tilt the chain brake/front hand guard (1) in the direction of the guide bar (18).

12.1.2 Loosening the chain brake/front hand guard (1)

1. Pull the chain brake/front hand guard (1) in the direction of the front handle (2).

12.1.3 Checking the chain brake/front hand guard (1)

1. Release the chain brake/front hand guard (1) as described under 12.1.2.
2. Make sure that the front hand guard (1) is free of dirt and moves easily.
3. Hold the chainsaw tight in both hands.
4. Switch on the chainsaw as described in 12.2 and move the throttle lever (4).
5. Do not tilt the chain brake/front hand guard (1) in the direction of the guide bar (18). The saw chain (17) must stop immediately!
   If the saw chain still moves, do not use the product. There is a danger of injury due to the saw chain (17) continuing to run. Contact customer service.

12.2 Starting the engine (Fig. 7, 10)

CAUTION

Danger of injury!

Do not insert the battery until the product is ready for use.

WARNING

Engage the chain brake before every start-up (push the front hand guard forward).

ATTENTION

Always pull the pull starter out straight. Hold the handle of the pull starter firmly when the pull starter winds back in. Never let the pull starter whip back in.

12.2.1 Starting the engine without the electric starter (Fig. 1, 7)

ATTENTION

• Do not let the pull starter whip back in. This can result in damage.
• In case of cool weather, it may be necessary to repeat the starting process numerous times.

12.2.1.1 Starting a cold engine

ATTENTION

Never let the pull starter whip back in. This can result in damage.

Note:

With high outside temperatures, it may be necessary to start the engine without the choke even when the engine is cold!

1. Check the fuel and saw chain oil levels before each start (see sections 11.3 and 11.2). Make sure that the spark plug connector (35) is connected to the spark plug (35a).
2. Remove the guide bar and chain guard (25) from the guide bar (18).
3. Set the chainsaw down on a firm and level surface. The saw chain (17) must not come into contact with the floor.
4. Push the front hand guard (1) forwards until it latches into place. The saw chain (17) is clamped by the chain brake.
5. Set the on/off lever (10) to the "I" position.
6. Press the fuel pump "primer" (23) 8x.
7. Pull out the choke (24) (▲).
8. Place the tip of your shoe in the rear hand guard (7).

9. Hold the chainsaw firmly by the front handle (2) and pull the pull starter (14) out slowly until you feel the first resistance.

10. Now pull the pull starter (14) and the engine should start.
    As long as the choke (24) is pulled out (), the engine will run for only a short time and then stop. If the engine does not start, repeat the process.

11. As soon as the engine has stopped, actuate the throttle interlock (5) and the throttle (4) together. The choke (24) will automatically spring back to the "warm start" operating position.
12. Now pull the pull starter (14) again and the engine should start.
13. If the engine does not start even after several attempts, read 18.
14. Release the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard (1) backwards.
15. Press the throttle interlock (5) on the rear handle (6) and operate the throttle (4). The saw chain (17) starts running.
    The speed can be steplessly controlled by the throttle (4). The further you press the throttle (4), the higher the speed.

12.2.1.2 Starting a warm engine

(The product stood still for less than 15-20 minutes.)

1. Check the fuel and saw chain oil levels before each start (see sections 11.3 and 11.2). Make sure that the spark plug connector (35) is connected to the spark plug (35a).
2. Remove the guide bar and chain guard (25) from the guide bar (18).
3. Set the chainsaw down on a firm and level surface. The saw chain (17) must not come into contact with the floor.
4. Push the front hand guard (1) forwards until it latches into place. The saw chain (17) is clamped by the chain brake.
5. Set the on/off lever (10) to the "I" position.
6. Press the fuel pump "primer" (23) 8x.
7. The choke (24) does not have to be pulled to start a warm engine.
8. Place the tip of your shoe in the rear hand guard (7).
9. Hold the chainsaw firmly by the front handle (2) and pull the pull starter (14) out slowly until you feel the first resistance.
10. Now pull the pull starter (14) quickly. The product should start after 1-2 pulls. If the product has still not started after 6 pulls, repeat the procedure described under 12.2.1.1" or 12.2.2.
11. The engine will start.
12. Release the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard (1) backwards.
13. Press the throttle interlock (5) on the rear handle (6) and operate the throttle (4). The saw chain (17) starts running.

The speed can be steplessly controlled by the throttle (4). The further you press the throttle (4), the higher the speed.

12.2.2 Using the electric starter to start the engine (Fig. 1, 6, 8, 9)

12.2.2.1 Starting a cold engine

1. Check the fuel and saw chain oil levels before each start (see sections 11.3 and 11.2). Make sure that the spark plug connector (35) is connected to the spark plug (35a).
2. Push the battery (8) into the battery mount (9) as described under 11.5.
3. Remove the guide bar and chain guard (25) from the guide bar (18).
4. Set the chainsaw down on a firm and level surface. The saw chain (17) must not come into contact with the floor.
5. Push the front hand guard (1) forwards until it latches into place. The saw chain (17) is clamped by the chain brake.
6. Set the on/off lever (10) to the "I" position.
7. Press the fuel pump "primer" (23) 8x.
8. Pull out the choke (24)
9. Fold the cover (13a) upwards.
10. Press and hold the electric starter (13b) on the electric starter unit (13) and hold it.
11. The engine will start. As long as the choke (24) is pulled out (), the engine will run for only a short time and then stop. If the engine does not start, repeat the process.
12. As soon as the engine has stopped, actuate the throttle interlock (5) and the throttle (4) together. The choke (24) will automatically spring back to the "warm start" operating position.
13. Fold the cover (13a) upwards.
14. Press the electric starter again (13b) until the engine starts.
15. Once the engine has started, let go of the electric starter (13b).
16. If the engine does not start even after several attempts, read 18.
17. Release the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard (1) backwards.
18. Press the throttle interlock (5) on the rear handle (6) and operate the throttle (4). The saw chain (17) starts running.
    The speed can be steplessly controlled by the throttle (4). The further you press the throttle (4), the higher the speed.

12.2.2.2 Starting a warm engine

1. Check the fuel and saw chain oil levels before each start (see sections 11.3 and 11.2). Make sure that the spark plug connector (35) is connected to the spark plug (35a).
2. Push the battery (8) into the battery mount (9) as described under 11.5.
3. Remove the guide bar and chain guard (25) from the guide bar (18).
4. Set the chainsaw down on a firm and level surface. The saw chain (17) must not come into contact with the floor.
5. Push the front hand guard (1) forwards until it latches into place. The saw chain (17) is clamped by the chain brake.
6. Set the on/off lever (10) to the "I" position.
7. Press the fuel pump "primer" (23) 8x.
8. Fold the cover (13a) upwards.
9. Press and hold the electric starter (13b) on the electric starter unit (13) and hold it.
10. The engine will start.
11. Once the engine has started, let go of the electric starter (13b).
12. Release the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard (1) backwards.
13. Press the throttle interlock (5) on the rear handle (6) and operate the throttle (4). The saw chain (17) starts running. The speed can be steplessly controlled by the throttle (4). The further you press the throttle (4), the higher the speed.

12.2.3 Operating while idle

ATTENTION

When idling, the saw chain must be stationary. If the saw chain moves, adjust the idle speed!

Note:

• If the saw chain moves at idle or the engine stops by itself when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment must be made.
  • See Maintenance of the carburettor settings.
• Switch the product on as under 12.2.
• After actuating the throttle lever (4) once, the engine runs at idle speed.
• Allow the engine to warm up briefly.

12.3 Inserting and adjusting the chain lubrication (Fig. 11)

Notes:

Before starting work, check the oil level and the function of the chain lubrication.

If there is no trace of oil, clean the oil opening if necessary or have the electric chainsaw repaired by our customer service.

1. Fill the oil tank (15) as described in 11.3.
2. Hold the chainsaw during operation, at medium speed, over a sawed-off tree stump or a suitable surface. If the lubrication is sufficient, a light film of oil will form on the tree stump or surface.

The amount of oil can be reduced or increased with the adjusting screw (32).

Use an installation spanner (29).

• Clockwise - the amount of oil is reduced (-)
• Counterclockwise - the amount of oil is increased (+)

12.4 Switch off the engine (Fig. 1)

12.4.1 Emergency stop procedure

1. If it is necessary to stop the product immediately, set the on/off lever (10) to position "0" and keep it pressed in this position until the engine has come to a standstill.

12.4.2 Normal procedure

1. Release the throttle (4). The engine goes into idle speed.
2. Set the on/off lever (10) to position "0" and keep it pressed in this position until the engine has come to a standstill.

13 Working instructions

This section examines the basic working technique for using the product.

The information provided here does not replace the many years of training and experience of a specialist.

Avoid any work that you are not adequately qualified for!

Careless use of the product can lead to serious injuries and even death!

Sawing and felling work as well as all related work may only be carried out by specially trained and briefed persons.

WARNING

For safety reasons, we advise inexperienced users against felling a tree trunk with a guide bar length that is smaller than the trunk diameter.

Notes:

Before switching on, make sure that the product does not touch any objects.

Observe the country-specific regulations for felling work and obtain information from the relevant authority.

• Make sure that no one can be harmed by the falling branches and trees.
• Only the persons required for the felling work may be in the work area.
• Keep the work area at the trunk clear and tidy so that users have a safe standing area.
• Keep escape routes clear and tidy in order to be able to leave the work area quickly.
• Do not carry out felling work in stronger wind conditions, bad weather or poor visibility.
• Keep distances to the nearest workplace of at least 2 1/2 tree lengths.
• Switch off the motor if the saw comes into contact with a foreign object. Check the saw and repair it if necessary.
• Protect the saw chain from dirt and sand. Even small amounts of dirt can quickly dull the saw chain and increase the risk of kick-back.
• Start by sawing smaller logs for practice to get a feel for your product before tackling more difficult tasks.
• Press the housing of the electric chainsaw against the tree trunk when you start sawing.
• Let the saw work for you. Apply only light downward pressure.
• To avoid losing control of the product after the saw chain has come out of the wood, do not apply pressure to the saw towards the end of the cut.
• Do not cut wood that is lying on the ground or try to cut roots that are sticking out of the ground.
• Avoid abnormal postures. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
• You have better control when you saw with the underside of the bar (with a pulling chain).
• The saw chain must not touch the ground or any other object during or after sawing.
• Also observe the precautions against kick-back (see safety instructions).

13.1 Holding the device correctly

• Never work on unstable ground!
• Never work above shoulder height!
  – Never work when standing on ladders!
• Do not bend too far when working!
• Only use the device when the weather and terrain conditions are favourable!
• Stand with both legs firmly on the ground.
• Be aware of obstacles in the working area.
• During work, always hold the product tight in both hands!

13.2 How to saw correctly!

• Exert regular pressure on the product and do not apply excessive force.
• If possible, apply the product to the branch you wish to saw with the claw stop.
• Never work without the claw stop. The product can pull the operator forward.
• Use the claw stop for cutting tree trunks or thick branches.
• Using the claw stop increases work safety, reduces personal strain when working and vibrations are also reduced.
• If it came into contact with a foreign object. Inspect the product for damage and perform the required repairs before starting again and working with the product. If the product begins to experience exceptionally strong vibrations, switch it off immediately and check it.

13.3 Sawing techniques

13.3.1 Pull sawing

With this technique, sawing takes place with the underside of the chainsaw guide bar from top to bottom.

The saw chain pulls the product forwards and away from the user. With this action, the front edge of the product forms a support, which absorbs the forces that arise on the tree trunk during sawing. With pull sawing, the user has significantly greater control over the product and is able to better avoid kickbacks.

13.3.2 Push sawing

Life-threatening injuries!

If the chainsaw guide bar jams, the product can be thrown towards the user with great force.

If the user does not balance the backward force the saw chain with their body strength, there is a risk that only the tip of the chainsaw guide bar will remain in contact with the wood and kick-back will occur.

With this technology, sawing takes place with the top side of the guide rail from bottom to top.

The saw chain pushes the product backwards, towards the user.

13.3.3 Cutting to length

This is the sawing of felled tree trunks into small sections. If possible, the trunk should be underpinned and supported by branches, beams or wedges.

• Always make sure you have a firm footing and only use the chainsaw when standing on firm, safe and level ground. Slippery ground or unstable standing surfaces can cause loss of balance or loss of control of the chainsaw.
- Always stand above the branch when sawing on slopes. Ensure that the saw chain does not come into contact with the ground. After completing the cut, wait for the saw chain to stop before removing the product.
- Always switch off the product's engine before switching from workplace to workplace.

13.3.3.1 Fitting/removing the cutting aid (30) (Fig. 12)

Assembling:

1. Remove the front fixing nut (22a) of the chain wheel cover (22). Use an assembly tool (29).
2. Mount the adapter nut (30a) on the guide bolt (34). Use an assembly tool (29).
3. Pull the quick coupling (30b) backwards and slide the cutting aid (30) onto the adapter nut (30a).
4. Release the quick coupling (30b).
5. Check that the crosscut guide (30) is firmly in place.

Removing:

1. Pull the quick coupling (30b) backwards and remove the cutting aid (30) from the adapter nut (30a).
2. The adapter nut (30a) can remain fitted on the guide bolt (34).

13.3.3.2 Using the cutting aid correctly (Fig. 12)

- Only use with delimbed trunks that are lying horizontally on their base.

• Pay attention to the length of the trunk and to forces that could close the previous cut gap and jam the end plate (30c). If the end stop plate (30c) becomes jammed, stop the chainsaw immediately, uncouple the crosscut guide (30) and release the clamp separately.
• The cutting aid (30) may only be attached to the chainsaw during the cutting process. To be able to cut branches and refuel the chainsaw, the crosscut guide (30) must be removed (see 13.3.3.1).
• After about 100 cutting operations, the tight fit of the cutting aid (30) must be checked and tightened if necessary. Use an assembly tool (30).
• Ensure the highest level of cleanliness on the adapter nut (30a) and the quick coupling (30b). If the quick coupling (30b) becomes stiff, please lubricate it.
• Avoid bending, impacts, squeezing, chafing etc. on the cutting aid (30). The cutting aid (30) must be checked regularly for damage.

13.3.3.3 Trunk lying on the floor

• The saw chain must not touch the ground or any other object during or after sawing.
• Saw all the way through the trunk from the top.
• If it is possible to turn the trunk, saw 2/3 through it. Then turn the trunk over and saw through the rest of the trunk from above.

13.3.3.4 Trunk is supported at one end

• First saw through 1/3 of the trunk diameter from bottom to top (with the top side of the chainsaw guide bar) to avoid fragments.
• Then saw from top to bottom (with the underside of the chainsaw guide bar) towards the first cut to avoid jamming.

13.3.3.5 Trunk is supported at both ends

• First saw through 1/3 of the trunk diameter from top to bottom (with the underside of the chainsaw guide bar).
• Then saw from the bottom up (with the top of the chainsaw guide bar) until the cuts meet.

13.3.3.6 Sawing on a metal work trestle

1. Hold the product firmly with both hands and guide the product in front of your body while sawing.
2. When cutting the trunk, guide the product past the body on the right. Keep your left arm as straight as possible. Watch out for the falling trunk.
3. Position yourself so that the severed trunk does not pose a hazard.
4. Pay attention to your feet. The cut trunk could cause injuries if it falls.
5. Make sure your body is balanced and that you have a secure stance.

13.3.4 Delimbing (Fig. 1)

WARNING

Danger of injury!

Many accidents happen during delimbing.

1. Hold the product firmly with both hands and guide the product in front of your body while sawing.
2. Do not lean too far forward during operation.
3. Never saw off branches when standing on the tree trunk.
4. Keep an eye on the kick-back area if branches are tensioned.

Delimbing is the term for removing branches and twigs from a tree.

• Remove supporting branches only after cutting to length.
• Tensioned branches must be sawn from the bottom upwards to prevent the product from jamming.
• Work to the left of the trunk and as close as possible to the product. If possible, let the weight of the product rest on the trunk.
• Change your position to cut branches on the other side of the trunk.

- Branched boughs are cut to length individually.

- When delimbing, leave larger downward branches that support the tree for the time being. Separate smaller branches with one cut.

- Remove the branches hanging downwards by making the cut above the branch.

- Never delimb above shoulder height.

- Always be aware of the danger of branches snapping back.

- Avoid making contact with the rail tip of the guide rail.

- Never saw several branches at once.

- Support the chainsaw with the claw stop (19) when delimbing, if possible.

- Make sure that at the end of the cut the chainsaw can swing through under its own weight. It is no longer supported in the cut so hold it securely.

- Take a firm, stable and secure stance when delimbing.

13.3.4.1 Delimbing in sections (Figs. 1, 13)

Shorten long or thick branches before making the final cut. Otherwise the saw chain (17) can easily jam.

13.3.5 Creating the notch cut

A lot of experience is needed to fell trees. Only fell trees if you can handle the product safely. Never use the product if you feel unsafe.

Life-threatening injuries!

• Never saw fully through the trunk!
  – During felling, only stand to the side of the tree you intend to fell!

DANGER

Do not fell a tree if a strong or changing wind is blowing, if there is a risk of property damage or if the tree could hit electrical lines.

DANGER

When felling trees, care must be taken not to expose other persons to danger, not to hit supply lines and not to cause damage to property. Should a tree come into contact with a supply line, the utility company must be informed immediately.

DANGER

Never step in front of a tree that is notched.

DANGER

As soon as the tree begins to fall, remove the product from the cut, stop the engine, place the product down and leave the workplace via the escape route. Watch out for falling branches and do not trip.

- Ensure that no other people or animals are present in the work area. The safety distance between the tree to be felled and the nearest workplace must be 2.5 tree lengths.

• Pay attention to the felling direction: The user must be able to move safely in the vicinity of the felled tree in order to be able to cut to length and delimb the tree easily. The falling tree must be prevented from becoming entangled in another tree. Observe the natural fall direction which depends on the inclination and curvature of the tree, wind direction and number of branches.
• Small trees with a diameter of 15-18 cm, can usually be sawn with one cut.
• Always stand above the branch when sawing on slopes. Ensure that the saw chain does not come into contact with the ground. After completing the cut, wait for the saw chain to stop before removing the product.
• Always stand above the tree trunk when sawing on slopes. In order to maintain full control at the moment of “cutting all the way through”, reduce the pressing force towards the end of the cut, without loosening your firm grip of the handles of the product. Ensure that the saw chain does not come into contact with the ground. After completing the cut, wait for the product to stop before removing the product. Always switch off the product and disconnect the mains plug before switching from tree to tree.
• For trees with a larger diameter, notch cuts and a felling cut must be made.
• Ensure that the saw chain does not become jammed in the saw cut. The branch must not break or splinter.
• Dirt, stones, loose bark, nails, staples and wire must be removed from the tree.

WARNING

Fold up the hearing protection immediately after finishing the sawing process so that you can hear sounds and warning signals.

Note:

The fall notch determines the felling direction of the tree to be felled.

1. Place the fall notch at right angles to the felling direction.
2. Saw as close to the ground as possible.
3. Pay attention to escape routes. Remove the undergrowth around the tree to ensure an easy retreat. The escape route should be about 45^ behind the planned felling direction.
4. Support the chainsaw with the claw stop (19).

13.3.5.1 Determining the felling direction - with marks on the product (Fig. 13)

The chainsaw is equipped with felling marks (33) which aid you with the direction of the chainsaw.

1. Place the chainsaw against the trunk. The felling marks (33) show you the probable felling direction of the tree.

13.3.5.2 Creating the notch cut (Fig. 13)

1. First start with the cut of the fall notch A. The depth of the fall notch should be approx. 1/4 of the tree diameter and have an angle of 45^-60^ .

13.3.5.3 Checking the felling direction (Fig. 1, 13)

1. Place the chainsaw with the guide bar (18) at the bottom of the notch cut.
2. The felling marks (33) show the probable felling direction.
3. If necessary, recut the notch cut accordingly.

13.3.5.4 Carrying out the felling cut (Fig. 13)

WARNING

Danger of accident!

Do not under any circumstances saw the breaking strip C during felling cut B, otherwise the tree may fall in an unpredictable direction!

Be prepared for the tree to "slide" uncontrollably when falling on the cut.

Be prepared for the tree to "jump" uncontrollably in one direction when it hits the ground.

To prevent the chainsaw from jamming in felling cut B, drive aluminium or plastic wedges into felling cut B in good time. Do not use iron wedges.

ATTENTION

Property damage!

Make sure that the wedge does not come into contact with the saw chain. It can be severely damaged by this.

1. Place the felling cut B approx. 2-3 cm higher than the horizontal cut of the fall notch A. Make sure that felling cut B is carried out exactly horizontally.
2. Leave approx. 1/10 of the tree diameter, the breaking strip C before felling cut B. Breaking strip C guides the tree to the ground like a hinge and secures it against premature falling.

13.3.5.5 Release a jammed chainsaw

If the chainsaw becomes jammed during cutting, proceed as follows:

1. Switch off the chainsaw and secure it on the inside of the tree trunk (i.e. towards the tree trunk) or attach it to a separate tool rope.

2. Pull the chainsaw out of the notch while lifting the branch as far as necessary.

3. If necessary, use a handsaw or second chainsaw to loosen the jammed chainsaw by cutting at least 30 cm away from the jammed chainsaw.

Regardless of whether a hand saw or a chainsaw is used to release a trapped chainsaw, the cuts to release the chainsaw should always be made on the outside (towards the tips of the branches) so that the chainsaw does not get carried away with the sawn-off parts and further complicate the situation.

13.3.6 Machining live wood (Fig. 1, 14)

ATTENTION

Property damage!

Lying wood must not touch the floor on the underside of the cutting point, otherwise the saw chain may be damaged.

It is essential to follow the correct sequence when working on wood that is tensioned. Otherwise the saw chain (17) may jam or kick-back may occur.

Tensioned wood must always be cut on the compressed side first. Only then perform the separating cut using the opposite side.

This prevents the saw chain (17) from jamming.

Recoil

- If the saw chain (17) jams on the top edge of the guide bar (18), the chainsaw can recoil suddenly in the direction of the operator in an uncontrolled manner.

Dragging

- If the saw chain (17) jams on the lower edge of the guide bar (18), the chainsaw can jerk forward suddenly away from the operator in an uncontrolled manner.

Safe work

• Keep the product in good working order to prevent injuries.
• It is necessary to conduct daily inspections before use and after dropping or other impacts to determine any significant damage or defects.

- Use the product at ground level, not when standing on a ladder or in an unsafe, insecure position.

- Do not be tempted to make a rash cut. This could endanger yourself and others.

- Change your working position regularly. Prolonged use of the product can lead to vibration-induced circulatory disorders of the hands. However, you can extend the duration of use by wearing suitable gloves or taking regular breaks. Be aware that personal predisposition to poor circulation, low outside temperatures or large gripping forces when working reduce the duration of use.

13.3.6.1 Wooden branch is bent downwards (Fig. 15)

1. First saw relief cut 1 (approx. 1/3 of the branch diameter) on the compressed side.
2. Then make cut 2 (approx. 2/3 of the branch diameter) on the tensioned side.

13.3.6.2 Wooden branch is bent upwards (Fig. 15)

1. First saw relief cut 1 (approx. 1/3 of the branch diameter) on the compressed side.
2. Then make cut 2 (approx. 2/3 of the branch diameter) on the tensioned side.

13.4 After use

• Always switch the product off before placing it down and wait until the product has come to a standstill.
• Place the guide bar and chain guard on the guide bar.
• Activate the chain brake.
• Allow the product to cool.
• When the product is not in use, remove the spark plug connector from the spark plug and the battery.

14 Cleaning and maintenance

WARNING

Have maintenance and repair tasks that are not described in this operating manual, carried out by a specialist workshop. Use only original spare parts.

WARNING

Improper maintenance or cleaning work can cause injuries!

WARNING

The product may start unexpectedly and cause injuries and burns during cleaning, repair and maintenance work.

• Switch the product off.
• Disconnect the spark plug connector from the spark plug.
• Remove the battery.
• Allow the product to cool.

Danger of injury when handling the saw chain or the blade!

- Wear cut-resistant gloves.

WARNING

Danger of burning!

Do not touch hot silencers, cylinders or cooling fins.

Notes:

All instructions regarding maintenance and cleaning must be carried out regularly or daily and before each commissioning. Incorrect maintenance can lead to severe property or personal damages. If this work cannot be carried out by the user themselves, see a specialist dealer.

The product should be thoroughly cleaned after each use.

- Only carry out cleaning and maintenance work to the extent specified in this operating manual. Further work must be carried out by qualified specialists.

14.1 Cleaning

1. We recommend that you clean the product directly after every use.
2. Use a brush or hand brush to clean the saw chain and no liquids.
3. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
4. If necessary, clean the handles with a damp cloth washed in soapy water.
5. Keep protective devices, air vents and the motor housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub the product clean with a clean cloth* or blow it off with compressed air* at low pressure. We recommend that you clean the product directly after every use.
6. Ventilation openings must always be free.
7. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the product. Make sure that no water can penetrate the product interior.
8. Clean the groove of the chainsaw guide bar using a brush or compressed air.
9. Clean the chain wheel.

14.2 Maintenance

Notes:

Maintain the product carefully. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the product's operation. Have damaged parts repaired before using the product.

Place the product on a level, even surface.

14.2.1 Maintaining the air filter (Fig. 17, 18)

DANGER

Risk of fire and explosion!

If not cleaned correctly, fuel may ignite and even explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.

• Only clean the air filter by knocking it out.
• Never clean the air filter with petrol or flammable solvents.

ATTENTION

Risk of damage!

Operating the engine without a filter element or with a damaged filter element can cause engine damage.

- Never run the engine without the air filter element or with a damaged filter element. This would allow dirt into the engine, which would result in severe damage to the engine.

ATTENTION

Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to reduced air supply to the carburet-tor. Regular inspection is therefore essen-tial.

Note:

The air filter should be checked every 25 operating hours and cleaned as required. The air filter must be checked more often in case of very dusty air.

1. Remove the air filter cover (3) by opening the clip fasteners (3a).

2. Take off the air filter screw (3b) and remove the air filter (3c).

3. Only clean the air filter (3c) by knocking it out.
4. Replace a faulty air filter (3c) with a new one.
5. Re-insert the air filter (3c) and fit the air filter screw (3b)
6. Attach the air filter cover (3) and secure it with the clip fasteners (3a).

14.2.2 Maintaining the spark plug (Fig. 17, 20)

Check the spark plug for dirt for the first time after 20 operating hours and clean it with a copper wire brush if necessary. Then service the spark plug every 50 operating hours.

1. Remove the air filter cover (3) by opening the clip fasteners (3a).
2. Take off the air filter screw (3b) and remove the air filter (3c).
3. Remove the spark plug connector (35) and disassemble the spark plug (35a). Use an installation spanner (29).
4. Remove any dirt from the base of the spark plug (35a).
5. Visually inspect the spark plug (35a). Remove any deposits present using a copper wire brush.
6. Check the spark plug gap. Use a feeler gauge to adjust the electrode gap to 0.6-0.7 mm.
7. Replace the spark plug (35a) and take care not to tighten it excessively.
8. Then place the spark plug connector (35) on the spark plug (35a).

14.2.3 Maintaining carburettor settings

If the saw chain (17) moves at idle or the engine stops by itself when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment must be made.

Note:

Have carburettor adjustments (e.g. idle speed) carried out only by qualified specialists to avoid engine damage.

14.2.4 Checking the chain wheel (37) (Fig. 21)

1. Turn the chain tensioning screw (21) anti-clockwise to loosen the chain tension. Use an installation spanner (29).
2. Turn the fixing nut (22a) anti-clockwise, so that the chain wheel cover (22) is removed. Use an installation spanner (29).
3. Remove the guide bar (18) and the saw chain (17).
4. Check the grooving on the chain wheel (37) with a test gauge.

5. If the grooves are deeper than a=0.5 mm, do not use the product and consult a specialist dealer. The chain wheel (37) must be replaced.

6. Fit the guide bar (18) and saw chain (17) as described under 14.2.6.

14.2.5 Checking the guide bar (18) (Fig. 21)

1. Turn the chain tensioning screw (21) anti-clockwise to loosen the chain tension. Use an installation spanner (29).
2. Turn the fixing nut (22a) anti-clockwise, so that the chain wheel cover (22) is removed. Use an installation spanner (29).
3. Remove the guide bar (18) and the saw chain (17).
4. Measure the groove depth of the guide bar (18) with the scale on a file gauge.
5. The guide bar (18) must be replaced if any of the following apply:
   – The chainsaw guide bar is damaged.
6. The measured groove depth is smaller than the minimum groove depth of the chainsaw guide bar (4 mm).

7. The groove of the chainsaw guide bar has narrowed or spread.

8. Fit the guide bar (18) and saw chain (17) as described under 14.2.6.

14.2.6 Fitting/removing/changing the guide bar (18) and saw chain (17) (Fig. 21)

DANGER

Serious injuries possible due to tearing or jumping off of the sawtooth!

- Never fit a new saw chain on a worn sprocket or on a damaged or worn guide rail. The saw chain could jump off or break.

WARNING

Always wear protective gloves when touching the saw chain. Danger of injury due to the sharp cutting teeth!

ATTENTION

Always carry out assembly and adjustments on the product with the engine switched off and disconnect the spark plug connector.

Notes:

• A new saw chain stretches and needs to be re-tensioned more often. Check and adjust the chain tension regularly after each cut.
• Only use saw chains and blades designed for this product.

- Before changing the saw chain, clean the groove of the guide bar, as the saw chain may jump out of the bar if it dirty. The deposits can also soak up the chain oil. The consequence would be that the chain oil does not reach the underside of the guide bar, or only to a small extent, and lubrication is reduced.

Depending on wear, the guide bar (18) can be turned.

1. Set the product down on a level and stable surface.
2. Pull the front hand guard (1) back up to the stop to release the chain brake, if necessary.
3. Turn the chain tensioning screw (21) anti-clockwise to loosen the chain tension. Use an installation spanner (29).
4. Turn the fixing nuts (22a) anti-clockwise, so that the chain wheel cover (22) is removed. Use an installation spanner (29).
5. Insert the guide bar (18) on the two guide bolts (34). The guide pin (34) must be in the elongated hole on the guide bar (18).
6. Guide the saw chain (17) around the chain wheel (37) and check the alignment of the saw chain (17). In the tip of the guide bar (18) there is a guide wheel into whose teeth the saw chain (17) must be inserted.
7. Pull slightly on the guide bar (18) to slightly pre-tension the saw chain (17).
8. Fit the chain cover (22). Make sure that the internal chain tensioning pin (36) fits into the appropriate matching hole (36a) in the guide bar (18). If necessary, adjust the chain tensioning screw (21) with an installation spanner (29).
9. Screw on the two fixing nuts (22a) by hand. Make sure that you do not tighten them yet.
10. Use the installation spanner (29) to turn the chain tensioning screw (21) clockwise until the lower part of the saw chain (17) slides into the guide bar (18). The saw chain (17) must be in contact with the underside of the guide bar. When the chain brake (1) is released, it must be possible to pull the saw chain (17) over the guide bar (16) by hand.
11. Tighten the two fixing nuts (22a) with the installation spanner (29).
12. Check the fit of the saw chain (17) again and tension the saw chain (17) as described in 11.4.
13. Disassembly takes place in reverse order.

Note:

With a new saw chain, the tensioning force decreases after some time. Therefore, you must retension the saw chain after the first 5 cuts, or after 10 minutes of sawing at the latest.

14.2.7 Sharpening and maintaining the saw chain (17)

WARNING

The teeth of the saw chain are very sharp. In order to avoid injuries, always wear thick gloves when in use!

Keep the saw chain in a good operating condition; effective work with the chainsaw is only possible if the saw chain is sharp, well lubricated and properly tensioned.

This also reduces the risk of kick-back.

The properly sharpened saw chain (17)

A properly sharpened saw chain (17) goes effortlessly through the wood and requires very little pressure. Do not work with a dull or damaged saw chain (17).

It increases physical exertion, magnifies the vibrations and leads to unsatisfactory results as well as greater wear and tear.

• Clean the saw chain (17) regularly.
• Check the saw chain (17) for breaks in the links and damaged rivets.
• Sharpening a saw chain (17) should only be carried out by experienced users!
• Note the angles and dimensions specified below.

If the saw chain (17) is not properly sharpened or the depth gauge is too small, there is a higher risk of kick-back effects and the resulting injuries! The saw chain (17) cannot be fixed on the guide rail (18). It is therefore best to remove the saw chain (17) from the guide rail (18) and then sharpen it.

- Select a sharpening tool that is suitable for the chain pitch.

The chain pitch (e.g. 3/8") is marked in the depth gauge of each blade.

Only use files specifically for saw chains!

Other files have the wrong shape and the wrong edge.

Select the diameter of the file according to your chain pitch. Be sure to also note the following angles when sharpening the cutting links.

Furthermore, the angle must be maintained for all cutting links.

If the angles are uneven, the saw chain (17) will run erratically, wear out quickly and break prematurely.

Since these requirements can only be met with sufficient and regular practice:

1. Use a file holder.
2. A file holder must be used when sharpening the saw chain (17) by hand. The correct filing angles are marked on it.
3. Hold the file horizontally (at the correct angle to the guide rail (18)) and file according to the angle marking on the file holder. Support the file holder on the top plate and the depth limiter.
4. Always file the cutting link from the inside out.
5. The file only sharpens as it moves forward. Lift the file off as you move backwards.
6. Do not touch the drive links or fastening links with the file.
7. Turn the file regularly to avoid wear on one side.
8. Use a piece of hard wood to remove the burr from cutting edges.

All cutting links must have the same length, otherwise they will also be of different heights.

This causes the saw chain (17) to run erratically and increases the danger of breaking.

14.2.8 Sharpening the saw chain (17)

WARNING

Increased risk of accidents due to an incorrectly sharpened saw chain!

Deviations from the dimensions of the cutting edge geometry during sharpening increase the risk of kick-back of the product.

– Have the saw chain sharpened by a professional.

The saw chain can be resharpened at an authorised specialist workshop. Do not attempt to sharpen the saw chain yourself if you do not have a suitable tool and the necessary experience.

CAUTION

Special tools are required to sharpen the chain; these ensure that the cutting tools are sharpened at the correct angle and to the correct depth.

All cutting links must have the same width and length after sharpening.

Notes:

A sharp saw chain ensures optimum cutting performance. It effortlessly eats through the wood, leaving behind large, long wood chips.

A saw chain is blunt if you have to push the cutting equipment through the wood and the wood chips are very small. With a very blunt saw chain, no chips are produced at all, only wood dust.

1. For sharpening, the saw chain (17) should be taut to allow proper sharpening.
2. A round file with a diameter of 4.8 mm is required for sharpening.

CAUTION

Other diameters damage the saw chain and can lead to hazards when working!

1. Only sharpen from the inside out. Guide the file from the inside of the cutting tooth to the outside. Lift off the round file when you pull it back.
2. First sharpen the teeth on one side. Then turn the saw chain (17) over and sharpen the teeth on the other side.
3. The saw chain (17) is worn and must be replaced with a new saw chain (17) when only approx. 4 mm of the cutting tooth is left.
4. After sharpening, all cutting links must be the same length and width.
5. After every third sharpening, the sharpening depth (depth limit) must be checked and the height must be re-filed using a flat file.

The depth limit should be set back from the cutting tooth by approx. 0.65 mm. After resetting, round off the depth limit slightly towards the front.

14.2.9 Maintenance intervals

15 Storage and transport

WARNING

Danger of injury and burning!

The product can start unexpectedly and cause injuries.

• Switch off the motor before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance work.
• Allow the motor to cool down.
• Disconnect the spark plug connector from the spark plug.
• Remove the battery.

• Empty the product completely.

- Clean and check the product for damage.

15.1 Storage (Fig. 2)

Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children.

The optimum storage temperature is between 5^ C and 30^ C.

Store the product in its original packaging.

Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture.

Store the operating manual with the product.

• Never store the product with fuel in the tank inside a building in which fuel vapours may come into contact with naked flames or sparks.

• In the event of prolonged storage, empty the fuel tank with a fuel extraction pump (not included in the scope of delivery).

• Always use the guide bar and chain guard (25) during storage.

• The installation spanner (29) can be stored on the side of the guide bar and chain guard (25).
• Store the product in the carry bag (31).

15.2 Preparation for storage

15.2.1 Drain fuel with a petrol extraction pump (Fig. 3)

WARNING

Do not remove the fuel in enclosed spaces, near fire or when smoking. Petrol fumes can cause explosions and fire.

In case of storage over a longer period of time, the fuel must be drained.

Tool required:

• Fuel extraction pump*

• Collection bucket*

• Hold a collection bucket under the hose on the fuel extraction pump.

• Lay the product on its side with the tank cover (11) facing upwards.
• Open the bracket (11a).
• Turn the chain oil tank cap (11) anti-clockwise and open it. The fuel filler cap (11) is connected to an anti-loss device in the fuel tank (12) and thus cannot fall off.
• Push the fuel extraction pump hose into the fuel tank (12).
• Empty the fuel tank using a petrol extraction pump into an approved container.
• Turn the tank cover (11) clockwise to close it.
• Close the bracket (11a) again.

15.3 Transport (Fig. 1, 16)

• Always use the guide bar and chain guard (25) during transport.
• Switch off the product before any transport, even over short distances. Secure the product against tipping over during transport (including in vehicles) to prevent fuel loss, damage or injury.
• Carry the product only by the front handle (2). In doing so, the guide bar (18) points backwards, away from your body.
• Keep the hot silencer away from your body. There is a risk of burns!
• If transporting the product by car or similar, always use the carry bag (31).

16 Repair and ordering spare parts

After repairs or maintenance, make sure that all safety-related parts are installed and are in perfect condition. All parts which may cause injury must be kept where they are inaccessible to children or others.

ATTENTION

According to the German Product Liability Act, no liability is accepted for damage caused by improper repairs or by not using original spare parts.

Such work should be performed by a customer service centre or an authorised specialists. The same applies to accessory parts.

• The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.
• Waste electrical and electronic equipment can be handed in free of charge at the following places:

– Public disposal or collection points (e.g. municipal works yards)
- LIDL offers you return options directly in the shops and markets. Return and disposal are free of charge.
- Up to three waste electrical devices per type of device, with an edge length of no more than 25 centimetres, can be returned free of charge to the manufacturer without prior purchase of a new device from the manufacturer or taken to another authorised collection point in your vicinity.
- Further supplementary take-back conditions of the manufacturers and distributors can be obtained from the respective customer service.

• If the manufacturer delivers a new electrical device to a private household, the manufacturer can arrange for the free collection of the old electrical device upon request from the end user. Please contact the manufacturer's customer service for this.
• These statements only apply to devices installed and sold in the countries of the European Union and which are subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU. In countries outside the European Union, different regulations may apply to the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Notes on lithium-ion batteries

Remove the battery before disposing of the device!

• Do not dispose of the battery in household waste, in a fire (risk of explosion) or in water. Damaged batteries can harm the environment and your health if toxic vapours or liquids escape.
• Defective or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with Directive 2023/1542/EC.
• Hand in the device and the battery charger at a recycling centre. The plastic and metal parts used can be separated by type and thus recycled.
• Dispose of batteries when discharged. We recommend covering the poles with an adhesive strip to protect against a short circuit. Do not open the battery.

- Dispose of batteries according to local regulations. Return batteries to a used battery collection point where they can be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. Ask your local waste disposal company about this.

Fuels and oils

• Before disposing of the product, the fuel tank and the engine oil tank must be emptied!
• Fuel and engine oil do not belong in household waste or drains, but must be collected or disposed of separately!
• Empty oil and fuel tanks must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

18 Troubleshooting

The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your product failing to work properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.

Please note the following terms under which guarantee claims can be made:

• These guarantee terms cover additional guarantee rights and do not affect your statutory warranty rights. We do not charge you for this guarantee.
• Our guarantee only covers problems caused by material or manufacturing defects, and it is restricted to the rectification of these defects or replacement of the device. Please note that our devices have not been designed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Consequently, the guarantee is invalidated if the equipment is used in commercial, trade or industrial applications or for other equivalent activities. The following are also excluded from our guarantee: compensation for transport damage, damage caused by failure to comply with the installation/assembly instructions or damage caused by unprofessional installation, failure to comply with the operating instructions (e.g. connection to the wrong mains voltage or current type), misuse or inappropriate use (such as overloading of the device or use of non-approved tools or accessories), failure to comply with the maintenance and safety regulations, ingress of foreign bodies into the device (e.g. sand, stones or dust), effects of force or external influences (e.g. damage caused by the device being dropped) and normal wear resulting from proper operation of the device.

The guarantee is rendered null and void if any attempt is made to tamper with the device.

• The guarantee is valid for a period of 5 years starting from the purchase date of the device. Guarantee claims should be submitted before the end of the guarantee period within two weeks of the defect being noticed. No guarantee claims will be accepted after the end of the guarantee period. The original guarantee period remains applicable to the device even if repairs are carried out or parts are replaced. In such cases, the work performed or parts fitted will not result in an extension of the guarantee period, and no new guarantee will become active for the work performed or parts fitted. This also applies when an on-site service is used.
• In order to assert your guarantee claim, please contact the service partner shown below. If the complaint is within the guarantee period, we will provide you with a return slip, with which you can return your defective device free of charge to us.
