How to properly use the recovery kit?

First, assess the situation of the stuck vehicle. Position the recovery vehicle in line with the stuck vehicle (angle less than 10 degrees). Leave a gap of 2 to 3 meters between vehicles. Connect the strap to approved recovery points using appropriate shackles. Gently accelerate to 10-12 mph (16-19 km/h) while staying below the maximum speed.

What safety precautions should be taken?

Never exceed the maximum breaking strength (MBS) of the strap. Use only approved recovery points, never a tow ball. Spectators should stand at least 1.5 times the length of the unstretched strap away. Use a damper (bag or blanket) on the strap during use.

How to maintain the straps?

Clean the straps with warm water and a mild detergent. Dry them completely before storing. Avoid contact with sharp or hot surfaces. Inspect before and after each use for cuts or abrasions. If damaged, replace immediately.

Can I use this kit for lifting?

No, this recovery kit is strictly designed for vehicle towing. Never use it as a lifting sling.

How to connect the strap to the vehicle?

Connect the strap only to the vehicle's approved recovery points (see owner's manual). Use shackles with rated load capacity. Tighten the shackle pin fully, then loosen by half to one turn to prevent binding.

What is the maximum load capacity?

What to do if the strap is damaged?

If the strap is wet, dirty, cut, or abraded, it will not function properly and may break. Replace it immediately with an identical strap.

How long should I let the strap rest between uses?

Recovery tow straps require rest periods between uses to regain their original length and capacity. Wait at least a few minutes, or longer depending on the intensity.

Can I use metal objects to join straps?

No, NEVER use a metal object to join straps. In case of breakage, the object can become a dangerous projectile. Use only the provided shackles.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

1. Always follow product instructions.
2. Never attempt to recover a vehicle without all the necessary equipment. Only use equipment that is properly rated for the particular situation. If in doubt, don't use it.
3. Never exceed the Max Breaking Strength (MBS) of the Recovery Tow Strap or the Working Load Limit (WLL) of shackles.
4. It is important to correctly attach the Recover Tow Strap to a vehicle. Only attach the Recover Tow Strap to a vehicle recovery point or device that is suitably rated for use with the Recover Tow Strap. A standard ball or vehicle tie-down point is not designed for this purpose and may result in the Recover Tow Strap or a vehicle component detaching from the vehicle and striking and seriously injuring or killing a person.
5. Incorrect use has previously resulted in serious injury and death.

KEY INFORMATION AND SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

1. The breaking strength of the Recover Tow Strap should be over 5 times the vehicle's Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM).
2. The Recover Tow Strap must be suited to the GVM of the lighter of the two vehicles used in the recovery process.

NOTE: If the GVM is not stated on the identification plate of a vehicle or its registration certificate, it should be available from the owner's handbook or from the vehicle manufacturer.

1. Consider completing a nationally recognized four-wheel-drive training course or contact a four-wheel-drive club for more comprehensive advice on the proper selection and use of your recovery equipment.
2. This designed Recover Tow Strap must not be used for lifting.
3. Ensure the Recover Tow Strap is not damaged and is in usable condition.
4. The Recover Tow Strap strength and stretch are reduced when the Recover Tow Strap is saturated with water.
5. Something like a recovery damper, heavy bag, or blanket must be draped over the Kinetic Recovery Rope during use to reduce any unintentional rebound of the Recover Tow Strap.
6. Only the drivers of the stranded and recovery vehicle should be in the vehicles. Nobody else should be in or on those vehicles.
7. While the Recover Tow Strap is being used, all bystanders must stay at least 1.5 times the length of the unstretched Recover Tow Strap away from either of the vehicles involved in the recovery process, and never position themselves within the path of the vehicles involved in the recovery.

SET UP THE RECOVERY

Assess the circumstances of the stranded vehicle. If it is bottomed out, clear under the vehicle body so it rests on its wheels.

The recovery vehicle should be placed in line with the stranded vehicle, more than 10 degrees off the vehicle line. The initial distance between them should be 2-3 meters less than the unstretched length of the Snatch Strap. Establish the point to which the stranded vehicle is to be recovered and agree on a signal (radio, hand signal, or horn blast) to be given when that point is reached.

CONNECT THE RECOVER TOW STRAP

Carefully inspect the Recover Tow Strap. If the Recover Tow Strap is dirty, cut, or chafed, it will not perform properly and may break, causing damage or injury. A Recover Tow Strap must not be used in this condition. Roll the Recover Tow Strap out between the vehicles and make sure there are no twists.

NOTE: Joining Recover Tow Straps should be avoided wherever possible, and NEVER use a metal object to join Recover Tow Straps. If the Recover Tow Strap breaks, the object can become a missile and is likely to cause damage or injury.

Check your vehicle handbook for recovery point locations, or use correctly fitted aftermarket recovery points.

DO NOT CONNECT TO A TOW BALL OR TIE DOWN POINT

Only use load-rated shackles. To correctly tighten shackle pins, screw the pin until it seats, then back off the pin about 1/2 to 1 turn.

Ensure the Recover Tow Strap does not contact hot surfaces or sharp edges.

MAKE THE RECOVERY

1. Check all connections and move bystanders to a safe distance (at

1.5 times the unstretched Recover Tow Strap length) and to the side of the recovery operation. Never allow bystanders to remain in the line of recovery.

2. Gently accelerate, taking up the slack and proceeding at no faster

10-12 mph. The stranded vehicle should be in 1st gear (or 2nd Low). The driver should assist the recovery by trying to drive out approximately seconds after the recovery vehicle commences to move.

3. If the vehicle is not recovered on the first attempt, check under

the stranded vehicle again for obstacles, reset the slack (about 2-3 m slack between the vehicles) and increase the speed of the recovery vehicle.

NOTE:

a) Recovery Tow Straps require rest periods between use to allow them to return to their original length and capacity.

b) Excessive speed or continual jerking whilst using a Recovery Tow Strap may result in damage to the recovery point, chassis, and line of both vehicles.

4. When the stranded vehicle reaches the agreed point, the driver of the recovery vehicle should stop. 5. Where proper use of a Recovery Tow Strap is unsuccessful, use an appropriately sized recovery winch.

NOTE: Do not attempt to remove the Recovery Tow Strap until both vehicles are stationary and secured.

GENERAL CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. Check the full length of the Recovery Tow Strap for nicks and cuts before and after use. If damaged, replace the Recovery Tow Strap. 2. Never allow your Recovery Tow Strap to contact sharp or hot surfaces, and remove any twists and kinks. 3. Foreign materials such as sand and grit can permanently damage Recovery Tow Strap fibers. Clean your Recovery Tow Strap with warm water and a mild detergent. 4. When thoroughly dry, coil your Recovery Tow Strap for storage. 5. Inspect shackles for damage; if pins are hard to turn, it is likely the shackle has been over-stressed and therefore needs to be replaced. 6. Never use the rope as a lifting sling.
