Unpacking the Appliance

1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
2. Remove all packaging material, such as foils, filling material, cable ties and cardboard packaging.
3. Check the scope of delivery for completeness.

4. If the contents of the packaging are incomplete or if damage can be detected, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately.

5. There may still be dust or production residues on the appliance. We recommend that you clean the appliance as described under "Cleaning".

Warnings for the Use of the Appliance

WARNING: Risk of Burns!

• Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
• Always ensure that the lid is firmly closed.
• The housing becomes hot during operation! Do not touch it and allow the appliance to cool down before putting it away.

CAUTION: Overload!

• If extension cables are used, they should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5mm^2
• Do not use a multiple socket. The appliance is too powerful.

CAUTION:

• Always switch off the appliance before removing it from the base! The contacts on the base are not suitable for disconnecting the power supply.
• Make sure that the appliance is switched off when you put it back on the base!

Notes for Use

Mains Cable

Unwind the mains cable completely from the base section of the base. Pay attention to the routing of the mains cable.

Connected Load

The appliance can consume a total power of 1850 - 2200 W. With this connected load, a separate supply cable with a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended.

Electrical Connection

1. Check that the mains voltage you wish to use matches that of the appliance. You will find the relevant information on the rating plate on the base.
2. Only connect the appliance to a properly installed earthed socket.

Switching the Appliance On/Off

• Switch on:

Switch the appliance on with the switch. The control lamp lights up.

• Switch off:

Switch the appliance off with the switch. The control lamp goes out.

Preparation

Before using the appliance for the first time, boil it three times with fresh water. Only use clear water without additives.

Operation

1. Place the appliance on a level surface.
2. Press the button on the handle to open the water kettle.

3. Fill with clear water (maximum 1.5 litres).

4. Always use fresh, cold water.

5. Do not overfill the appliance! Do not fill beyond the MAX mark!

6. Close the lid. Always make sure that the lid is firmly closed.

7. Place the water kettle flush on the base.
8. Switch the appliance on with the switch.

Interrupting/Stopping Operation

There are two ways to interrupt or stop the boiling process:

1. The appliance switches off automatically after the boiling process. The control lamp goes out.

2. Press the switch upwards to end the cooking process.

3. Always switch off the appliance before removing it from the base! The contacts on the base are not suitable for disconnecting the power supply.

4. Make sure that the appliance is switched off when you put it back on the base!

5. Pull the mains plug out of the socket.

6. Empty the water container.

7. Only hold the appliance by the handle.

8. Keep the lid closed when pouring.

9. Only open the lid with the button on the handle.

10. The housing becomes hot during operation! Do not touch it and allow the appliance to cool down before putting it away.

Cleaning

WARNING:

• Always switch off the appliance before cleaning and disconnect the mains plug from the socket. Wait until the appliance has cooled down.
• Do not immerse the appliance or the base in water or other liquids. This could lead to an electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:

• Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive objects.

• Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

• Clean the perforated surface of the spout opening from the inside with a nylon brush.

• Rinse out the water container with clear water. Dry it with a cloth.
  After use, clean the housing with a slightly damp cloth.

Dscaling

Descaling is required if the appliance switches off before the water boils.

The descending intervals depend on the water hardness and frequency of use.
- Do not use vinegar, but a commercially available descaler based on citric acid. Please dose according to the instructions for use.
- After descaling, boil fresh water approx. 3 - 4 times to remove residues of the descaling agent. Do not use this water as drinking water.

Storage

• Clean the appliance as described and allow it to dry completely.
• We recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time.
  Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well-ventilated and dry place.

Winding Device for Mains Cable

You can wind up the mains cable at the bottom part.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Remedy
The appliance has no function. The appliance has no power supply. Check the	power socket with another appliance.
	Insert the mains plug correctly.
	Check the house fuse.
	The appliance is defective. Contact our service or a specialist.
	The appliance has not cooled down sufficiently after operating with or without water.	Allow the appliance to cool down for 15 minutes.
The appliance switches off before the water boils.	The heating base is too heavily calcified or the electrical circuit of the socket is overloaded.	Descale according to the instructions.
		Check the mains connection.
The appliance does not switch off.	The lid is not closed. Close the lid until it clicks into place.
