Frequently Asked Questions - HF-75BX2 QSC

How to install the HF-75BX2 on the LF-3215 subwoofer?
Place the HF-75BX2 on top of the LF-3215. Secure it using the three M8 x 20 mm bolts with pre-installed lock washers on the subwoofer. Apply thread grease to prevent loosening. Orient the horn in the horizontal plane before tightening, then adjust vertical tilt via the adjustable bracket.
Which cables to connect to the INPUT terminals?
Use stranded speaker cables up to #10 AWG (5.3 mm²). Connect the amplifier signal: positive (+) to the + INPUT terminal, negative (-) to the - INPUT terminal. Keep cables as short and as large gauge as possible.
How to connect the compression driver?
The HF OUT terminals are pre-wired from the factory to the compression driver. Use them only for this purpose. Observe polarity: + HF OUT to + of the driver, - HF OUT to - of the driver.
Can I use the HF-75BX2 with other subwoofers than the LF-3215?
The HF-75BX2 is specifically designed for the QSC LF-3215. The passive crossover and impedance are optimized for this subwoofer. Use with another model could degrade performance or damage equipment.
How to adjust the horizontal and vertical coverage?
The horizontal coverage is fixed at 90°. To orient it, rotate the assembly before tightening the bolts. The vertical coverage is adjustable from +15° to -35° (50° total) via the adjustable bracket located between the horn and the subwoofer.
What is the recommended maximum power?
With the LF-3215, the maximum input power is 300 W (pink noise, 2 hours, 6 dB crest factor). With the LF-3115, it is 150 W. Do not exceed these values to avoid damage.
What to do in case of damage or malfunction?
Cut power and inspect connections and hardware. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician. For warranty repair, return the unit to the factory or an authorized center with proof of purchase.
How to clean the loudspeaker?
Use a soft dry cloth to dust. Avoid chemical or abrasive products. Regularly check that bolts are tight. If the horn is dirty, blow compressed air gently.
What are the warranty conditions?
QSC offers a 3-year limited warranty against manufacturing and material defects, valid in the United States. It does not cover damage due to misuse, incorrect installation, or accident. Visit www.qscaudio.com for the latest version.
Can I replace the compression driver myself?
Only qualified personnel should perform repairs. Any unauthorized service voids the warranty. If the driver is defective, contact QSC customer service or an authorized center.

HF-75BX1 and HF-75BX2

High Frequency Component

Introduction

The HF-75BX1 and HF-75BX2 are the high frequency components of full-range, two-way screen channel loudspeaker systems for high performance cinema applications. The HF-75BX1 is designed specifically for use with QSC's LF-3115 low frequency loudspeaker and the HF-75BX2 for the LF-3215 loudspeaker.

The HF-75BX1/X2 high-frequency system features a large format, 3.0" (76.2mm) voice coil, titanium diaphragm compression driver mounted on a custom designed high-frequency cinema horn with an adjustable pan and tilt bracket. The horn features broad horizontal and vertical coverage angles to ensure coverage of every seat in the auditorium. The horn is a low-distortion waveguide providing highly articulate dialogue without coloration associated with conventional horn loudspeakers. Equipped with a passive crossover providing tailored output for the LF-3115 or LF-3215, no additional signal processing is required.

The HF-75BX1/X2 components come pre-assembled to reduce field assembly time. Three bolts are all that are required to secure the HF-75BX1/X2 to the top of a QSC low frequency loudspeaker. Threaded inserts in the LF enclosures and matching punched hole pattern in the HF-75BX1/X2 make mounting to the low frequency enclosure simple.

Mounting

Refer to the illustration for mounting information. The HF-75BX1/X2 attaches to the top of the LF-3115 or LF-3215 with three M8, 20mm long, with lock washers. This hardware ships installed on the low frequency cabinet. We recommend the use of serviceable thread locking compound when installing the bolts to prevent loosening due to vibration. Aim the horn in the horizontal plane (pan) before tightening. Adjust the vertical tilt with the bracket adjustment.

WARNING! Before placing, installing, rigging, or suspending any speaker product, inspect all hardware, suspension, cabinets, transducers, brackets and associated equipment for damage. Any missing, corroded, deformed or non-load rated component could significantly reduce the strength of the installation, placement, or array. Any such condition severely reduces the safety of the installation and should be immediately corrected. Use only hardware which is rated for the loading conditions of the installation and any possible short-term unexpected overloading. Never exceed the rating of the hardware or equipment. Consult a licensed, professional engineer when any doubt or questions arise regarding a physical equipment installation.
