1.1 General information

• Please make sure that the user of this tool carefully reads these operating instructions and fully understands all the information provided before using the tool for the first time.
• These operating instructions contain important advice that is necessary for the safe and trouble-free operation of your HAZET video borescope.
• For intended use of the video borescope, it is essential that all safety precautions and other information in these operating instructions are adhered to.
• For this reason, always keep these operating instructions together with your HAZET product.
• This video borescope has been designed for specific applications. HAZET emphasises that any modification to this tool and/or use in a way that does not correspond to its intended application is strictly forbidden.
• HAZET accepts no liability or warranty for injuries and damage resulting from improper and inappropriate use or contravention of the safety instructions.
• In addition, the accident prevention regulations and general safety regulations applicable to the application range of the video borescope must be observed.

2.1 Owner's liability

• This video borescope has been developed and manufactured according to the technical norms and standards valid at the time and is considered to be operationally reliable. Nevertheless, the video borescope may present a danger when it is not used as intended or used in an inappropriate way by non-qualified personnel. Every person who is assigned to work on or with the thermal camera must therefore have read and understood the operating instructions before starting work.
• Always keep the operating instructions close to the video borescope.
• Modifications of any kind or any additions or modifications to the video borescope are prohibited.
• All specified installation values or setting ranges must be observed.

2.2Intended use

- The video borescope is intended exclusively for industrial use for damage diagnostics as well as documentation via video and/or image recording in hard-to-reach places on machines (e.g. on and inside gearboxes, axles, engines, cylinders and cylinder heads, pistons, cavities, spars, sliding roofs, shafts and brake systems) etc.. Operational reliability is only guaranteed if the device is used as intended in accordance with the information provided in the operating instructions. In addition to the occupational safety instructions in these operating instructions, the generally applicable safety, accident prevention and environmental protection regulations for the area of use of the video borescope must be observed and respected. The use and maintenance of borescopes must always be in accordance with local state or federal regulations. Only use the video borescope when it is in a technically perfect and operationally safe condition.

• The video borescope must not be used for medical applications.
• Do not subject the video borescope to shocks or impacts.
• The proper functioning of the video borescope is only guaranteed with original spare parts.
• Any incorrect use of the video borescope or use that fails to comply with the safety precautions can result in serious injury.
• Any deviation from the intended use and/or any misapplication of the device is not permitted and will be considered as improper use.
• Any claims against the manufacturer and/or its authorised agents resulting from damage caused by improper use of the device are invalid.
• Any personal injury or material losses caused by improper use are the sole responsibility of the owner.
• The product must be used in strict compliance with local electrical safety regulations.

Warning

Before using this product, please read this manual carefully and operate in accordance with the instructions to avoid loss or damage due to improper use. Do not use the product at high temperatures of more than 85°C.

2.3 Dangers that may arise from using the device

Before each use, check the video borescope for full functionality. Do not use the video borescope if its functional efficiency (according to the test results) cannot be ensured or if damage is detected. If it is determined that the video borescope is not in good working order but the tool is used despite this, there is a danger of serious damage to body, health and property. Electrical energy can cause serious injuries. The following fundamental safety instructions must be observed and adhered to in order to avoid electric shock, injuries or fire:

• The connecting cables and housing must not be damaged. Tools that have been dropped or damaged must be checked by qualified personnel before being used again.
• Never use tools with a defective on/off switch. Any tools that cannot be switched on or off with the On/Off switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
• The cables must not touch hot or sharp parts or become damaged in any other way. The cables must be laid in such a way that they do not present a tripping hazard.
• Do not expose the video borescope to water or other liquids. Dangerous voltage discharges may occur.
• Do not disassemble / open the video borescope yourself. Any improper assembly can impair its functionality and cause a fire, an electrical shock and/or injuries.
• All service or repair work must be carried out by qualified personnel only. Only use original spare parts so as to guarantee its long-term operational safety.
• Safety devices and/or cover parts may not be removed.

• Only use the video borescope within the prescribed places, and governed under the current regulations relating to the working environment and to electrical systems.

• For safety reasons, any modification of the video borescope is strictly forbidden. Any modification made to the device will result in immediate exclusion of liability.

• If smoke, odours or noises emanate from the device, switch off the device immediately, disconnect the power cord and contact customer service.

2.4 Important safety precautions

1. Avoid operating the joystick for the probe control when the probe is twisted, as this can cause the internal components of the probe to break.
2. The probe may only be controlled using the joystick. Do not use your hands to bend the probe as this may cause the internal components of the probe to break.
3. Avoid permanent loading at the maximum bending angle of the probe.
4. It is forbidden to use or store the device in explosive or strong electromagnetic fields or in places with flammable gases, as this may result in fire or explosion.
5. It is forbidden to operate the detected object under power in order to avoid electric shock.
6. Do not touch the end of the probe directly, especially if the borescope is used in an environment with high temperatures, as this can lead to burns.
7. Do not look directly into the strong light source at the end of the borescope probe to prevent the strong light from impairing your view.
8. After the inspection, please return the guide to a straight position and do not pull it directly out of the measurement object to prevent the probe from becoming stuck. Do not force the probe, as this may cause the control function to break.

Keep power tools out of the hands of children.

Unattended tools could be used by unauthorised persons and could cause injury to them or to other persons.

3.2 Applications

- This industrial borescope can be used by professional maintenance personnel in areas that are not visible to the naked eye without dismantling the machines or damaging the object to be inspected. For example: testing

of precision instruments, engine inspection, vehicle repair, repair of air conditioning systems, inspection of sanitary facilities and maintenance of buildings, etc.

3.3 Installing the APP HAZET Borescope

• Install the HAZET Borescope app on your smartphone. You can find these for Android in the Playstore or for Apple in the Applestore. Otherwise you can download the app at:

- Use the adjustment knob to adjust the smartphone holder to your smartphone so that it is securely fixed. Make sure that any buttons on your smartphone (e.g. loud/quiet, on/off) are not unintentionally activated by the fixation. Connect the USB-C / Lightning interface of your smartphone to the USB-A interface of the video borescope using a data cable.

3.5 Switching on and off

- Press the on/off switch on the video borescope. If your smartphone does not automatically connect to the HAZET Borescope app, this must be done manually by the user by clicking on the HAZET borescope app icon. To switch off the device, press the on/off switch again.

3.6 Setting the LED light

• After a successful connection, the LED lighting of the probe is at its brightest level (max. 3 brightness settings). To adjust the brightness to your needs or switch it off completely, briefly press the LED button.

3.7 Zoom

- Press the zoom button (max. 5x zoom) to adjust the scaling of the screen to your requirements.

3.8 Photo/Video

- Briefly press the photo/video button to take a photo. The recordings are automatically saved in the memory of your smartphone (JPG format). Press the photo/video button for longer than 2 seconds to record a video. The recordings are automatically saved in the memory of your smartphone (MP4G format).

3.9 Charging

• To charge the video borescope, connect it to a suitable power source using the USB-C cable. Charging voltage/charging current max. 5V/1A.
• There is a risk of fire at higher charging voltages/currents!
  • Note: The video borescope does not support fast charging!

• For safety reasons, only the manufacturer's original spare parts may be used.
• Unsuitable or defective spare parts may cause damage, malfunction or total failure of the tool.

- The use of non-approved spare parts will void all warranty, service and liability claims as well as all claims for compensation against the manufacturer or its agents, distributors and sales representatives.

⑤ Storage

The tool must be stored under the following conditions:

• Do not store the tool outdoors.
• Keep the device in a dry and dust-free place.
• Do not expose to liquids or aggressive substances.
  • Storage temperature: -10 up to +45°C.
  • Relative air humidity: max. 65 %

• When transporting the device, keep it in its original or comparable packaging.

• After unpacking, keep all packing material for future use, insofar as possible. In the event of a complaint, please use suitable packaging for the return shipment, preferably the original packaging.

• HAZET accepts no responsibility for transport damage caused by improper packaging during return shipment.
• Do not drop the product and avoid violent impacts. Keep the device away from magnetic interference.

⑥ Disposal

• For disposal, clean the tool and disassemble in accordance with the regulations for work safety and environmental protection.
• Please recycle components.
