GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device
(RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust related hazards.
h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot
be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
5) Battery tool use and care
a) Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
e) Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
f) Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130^ may cause explosion. NOTE The temperature, 130^ can be replaced by the temperature, 265^ .
g) Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
6) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
b) Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
TELESCOPIC CHAIN SAW SAFETY WARNINGS
a) Keep all parts of the body away from the saw chain. Do not remove cut material nor hold material to be cut when the saw chain is moving. Make sure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed when clearing jammed material. A moment of inattention while operating the chain saw may result in serious personal injury.
b) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the saw chain may contact hidden wiring. Saw chains contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the product "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
c) Maintain a firm grip with both hands and position your body and arm to allow you to resist any kickback forces. Kickback forces can be controlled by the operator, if proper precautions are taken. Do not let go of the telescopic chain saw.
d) When cutting a branch be alert for kickback. When the branch is broached it can bend down and jam the saw chain.
e) Carry the chain saw switched off, always with both hands and the saw chain cover fitted. Proper handling of the chain saw will reduce the likelihood of accidental contact with the moving saw chain.
f) Do not operate the telescopic chain saw in a tree. Operation of a telescopic chain saw while climbing or situated in a tree may result in personal injury.
g) Always keep proper footing and operate the chain saw only when standing on fixed, secure and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as ladders may cause a loss of balance or control of the chain saw.
h) Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioning and changing accessories. Improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or increase the chance for kickback.
i) Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery causing loss of control.
j) Cut wood only. Do not use the telescopic chain saw for purposes that it is not intended for. Example: do not use the chain saw for cutting plastic, masonry or other non-wooden building materials. Use of the telescopic chain saw for operations different than intended for could result in a hazardous situation.
k) Causes and operator prevention of kickback:
- Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator. - Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the operator.
Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of the telescopic chain saw which could result in serious personal injury. As a chain saw user, you should take several steps to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or injury.
Kickback is the result of incorrect or faulty use of the product. Kickback can be avoided by taking proper precautions as given below.
1) Only use replacement saw chains specified by the manufacturer. Incorrect saw chains may cause chain breakage or kickback.
m) If the bar is damaged and in need of replacement, please consult your dealer.
n) To prevent accidental operation of the saw chain, this chain saw is equipped with a switch with mechanical interlock. To operate the chain saw, the locking button must be pressed before the saw chain starts operating

4. OPERATION
Before use (Fig. G)
Remove the chain cover (13) and check the oil level in the reservoir (6). Do not operate the saw with an empty oil reservoir. Use biodegradable chain saw oil only. Check if the chain (4) is correctly tensioned. The chain is correctly tensioned when it can be raised approx. 2-3mm by hand in the center of the chain bar (5).
Switching on and off
Always hold the telescopic chain saw with both hands. Place one hand on the telescopic handle (9) and one hand on the rear handle near the power switch. Press and hold the power switch (8) to operate the machine. When the power switch is released the machine will automatically stop.
During use
Bring the chain up to speed before contacting the wood. Do not force the chain saw while cutting. Keep the machine at a steady speed and let the chain do the work. Regularly check the oil level in the reservoir, top up the reservoir before it runs completely dry.
When sawing off large/long branches, sawing off in parts is recommended.
After use
Wipe off any dirt and debris from the chain (4) using a brush or cloth. Place the chain cover (13), and remove the battery (14) before storing the machine. To prevent oil leakage while in storage, drain any remaining oil from the reservoir (6) into a suitable container.
5. MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning and maintenance, always switch off the machine and remove the battery pack from the machine.
Clean the machine casings regularly with a soft cloth, preferably after each use. Make sure that the ventilation openings are free of dust and dirt. Remove very persistent dirt using a soft cloth moistened with soapsuds. Do not use any solvents such as gasoline, alcohol, ammonia, etc. Chemicals such as these will damage the synthetic components of the machine.
Adjusting saw chain tension (Fig. H)
Normal wear will cause the chain to stretch out slowly over time. The chain saw is equipped with a tensioning mechanism to compensate for this stretching. Turn the chain tensioning bolt (21) on the front of the machine to adjust the chain tension. The chain (4) is correctly tensioned when it can be raised approx. 2-3mm by hand in the center of the chain bar (5). When the tensioning mechanism is no longer able to fully compensate for the stretch, the chain is worn out and must be replaced.
Replacing the saw chain (Fig. H)
- Undo the screw (22) and remove the cover (23).
- Remove the chain (4) and chain saw bar (5). Discard the old chain.
- Place the new chain around the chain bar. Ensure the size of the new chain is correct and observe the correct running direction of the chain.
- Fit the chain over the drive sprocket and re-seat the chain bar.
- Ensure all parts are seated properly and re-fit the cover (23) and tighten the screw (22).
- Check the chain tension and adjust if necessary.
Storage
The telescopic chain saw should be kept in a safe, dry place, well out of the reach of children. Do not place other objects on top of it. Note that there is a small breather channel in the oil reservoir cap (6). The machine must be stored in a horizontal position, with the reservoir cap uppermost, to prevent oil leakage through the channel in the cap. Alternatively, if the machine must be stored in a different position, the oil should be drained from the reservoir into a suitable container to prevent leaking during storage.
