To get the best out of your new knife sharpener, please read through these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. Take particular note of the safety precautions. We also recommend that you keep the instructions for future reference.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- This appliance may only be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instructions concerning use of the appliance

in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
- Keep the appliance under constant supervision while in use. Keep an eye on any children in the vicinity of the appliance when it is in use. The appliance is not a toy.

- Use for its intended purpose only. The manufacturer is not responsible for any injury or damage resulting from incorrect use or handling (see also Warranty Terms).
- For domestic use only. Not for outdoor or commercial use.

from the inside and outside of the appliance.
- Check that the appliance has no visible damage and that no parts are missing.
- Do not use with any cords other than that supplied.
- Check that it is not possible to pull or trip over the cord or any extension cord.
- The appliance must not be used together with a timer switch or a separate remote control system.

- Turn off the appliance and remove the plug from the socket before cleaning, or when the appliance is not in use.
- Avoid pulling the cord when removing the plug from the socket. Instead, hold the plug.
- Keep the cord and appliance away from heat sources, hot objects and naked flames.
- Ensure that the cord is fully extended.

wound around the appliance.
- Check regularly that neither the cord nor plug is damaged and do not use the appliance if there is any damage, or if it has been dropped on the floor, dropped in water or damaged in any other way.

SPECIAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not insert the tip of the knife directly
into the opening in the appliance! It may damage both the appliance and the knife.
- Do not try to sharpen knives with wavy edges. Only sharpen knives with straight edges.
- The appliance must not run for more than 2 minutes at a time. It should then be left to cool for at least 3 minutes before you use it again.
- The appliance must not be left running if you are not using it to sharpen.

- Do not moisten or lubricate the grinding stones in the appliance, as this will destroy it.
- First practise on an old knife until you are familiar with how to use the appliance.
- Never try to sharpen a knife that cannot easily fit into the opening.

Never put the knife point first into the appliance or push it forward. You must always draw the knife back through the appliance towards yourself.

Keep the knife edge parallel with the table, unless sharpening the point.
- Do not press down hard on the knife as you pull it through the appliance because this can cause the whetstones to lock.
- Be very careful when handling knives. Never run your finger along the blade to see if it is sharp.
- You may have to sharpen a particular knife several times in

the appliance to achieve the required sharpness.
- You must always wipe the blade with a wet cloth to remove any metal shavings when you have finished sharpening the knife.
- High carbon steel knives may generate sparks when drawn through the appliance. This is normal and not dangerous.
- The whetstones can vibrate as they rotate. This is normal.
- The appliance is designed to sharpen alloy steel, carbon steel or stainless steel knives. It can be used to sharpen kitchen and sport knives.
- The appliance must not be used to sharpen scissors, bread knives, electric knives with bevelled indentations or knives with double-sided bevelled indentations.

USE
- Place the appliance on a flat surface. Plug the appliance in.
- Press the on/off button to turn on the appliance. Let it reach idle speed.
- Put the middle of the knife's edge into the sharpening wheel.
- Press the knife down with an appropriate amount of force, and while pressing down, pull the knife towards you as shown. The blade must be parallel with the tabletop.

• Repeat, until the knife is sharp.
Important!
• The blade may be very sharp after sharpening! Make sure you do not cut yourself on it!
- Never put the knife point first into the appliance and push it forward. You must always draw the knife back through the appliance towards yourself.

- Never insert the back edge of the knife's blade into the appliance.

CLEANING
- Remove plug from the mains socket, and allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning it.
- Never submerge the appliance in water and make sure no water enters the appliance.
- Clean the appliance by wiping it with a damp cloth. A little detergent can be added if the appliance is heavily soiled.
- Do not use scouring pads, steel wool or any form of strong solvents or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the appliance, as they may damage the outside surfaces of the appliance.
• IMPORTANT! Allow to dry fully after cleaning before using again. Do not use the appliance if damp.
- Do not apply any kind of lubricant to the appliance.
