3. Introduction
The device uses the oscillometric method for measuring blood pressure.
The automatic electronic blood pressure monitor is intended for use by medical professionals or at home for monitoring and display of diastolic, systolic blood pressure and pulse rate in adults. This is done by placing an arm cuff around the left upper arm.
The estimated service life of the product is 5 years.
The product meets the requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility of EN60601-1-2 and safety standards of EN60601-1-1 and performance of IEC 80601-2-30 as defined in the EEC Directive 93/42 / EEC.
4. About blood pressure
4.1. What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is the pressure of blood in a blood vessel. Systolic pressure is generated when the heart contracts. Diastolic pressure is generated when the heart expands.
A high blood pressure has an adverse effect on your health and life expectancy.
Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg).
4.2. What is high blood pressure and how is it controlled?
An unusually high arterial blood pressure, if left uncontrolled, can cause many health problems including stroke and heart attack.
High blood pressure can be controlled by changing the lifestyle, avoiding stress, and with the help of medication under medical supervision.
To prevent high blood pressure or keep it under control, we recommend the following:
- Do not smoke
- Exercise regularly
- Reduce intake of salt and fats
- Undergo regular physical checkups
- Maintain correct weight (ideal weight)
4.3. Why should you measure the blood pressure at home?
The blood pressure measured in a hospital or doctor's clinic can cause anxiety and result in readings which are 25 to 30mmHg higher than those measured at home. Measurement at home reduces the effect of external influences on the blood.
The values measured by the doctor and, in addition, those measured at home, provide more safety and a more accurate and complete blood pressure history.
4.4. WHO (World Health Organization) -Blood pressure classification
Standards for assessing high blood pressure, without considering the age, have been established by the World Health Organization (WHO), and are shown in the following diagram.

heatmap
Reference Material: Journal of Hypertension 1999, Vol 17 No.2 | Hypertension Level | Diastolic blood pressure (mmHg) | Systolic blood pressure (mmHg) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Optimal | 80 | 120 | | Normal | 85 | 130 | | High-normal | 90 | 140 | | Grade 1 hypertension (mild) | 95 | 160 | | Grade 2 hypertension (moderate) | 100 | 170 | | Grade 3 hypertension (severe) | 110 | 180 |4.5. Blood pressure variations
The blood pressure of a person varies a lot daily and seasonally.
It may vary by as much as 30 to 50 mmHg during the day due to various conditions. The variations are even more pronounced in hypertensive individuals.
Normally the blood pressure increases when working or playing and drops to the lowest level during sleep. Hence do not let yourself be overly influenced by the results of a single measurement.
Take the readings every day at the same time following the procedure described in this manual and know your normal blood pressure.
Many measurements provide a more complete picture of the history of blood pressure.
Make sure that you always note the date and time when measuring your blood pressure. Consult your doctor to interpret your blood pressure data.

line
| Time | Blood Pressure (mmHg) | |------|------------------------| | 12 | ~50 | | 15 | ~50 | | 18 | ~50 | | 21 | ~50 | | 24 | ~150 | | 03 | ~30 | | 06 | ~30 | | 09 | ~150 |-
Precau ons before each use
-
If you are taking medication, consult your doctor to determine the best time to measure your blood pressure. Never change a prescribed medication without first consulting your doctor.
- For individuals having irregular or unstable peripheral circulation problems cause by diabetes, liver disease, hardening of the arteries, etc., the blood pressure may vary at the upper arm and the wrist.
-
The measurements can be affected if the device is used near televisions, microwave ovens, X-ray machines, mobile phones or other devices that emit strong electrical fields. To avoid such interferences, use the blood pressure monitor at an adequate distance from such devices or switch off those devices.
-
You should wash your hands before using the device.
- Do not measure on the arm that is using ME devices at the same time for monitoring, as this may lead to loss of function.
- Consult your doctor if the readings are unexpected.
- The readings when measuring at home is probably lower than in the hospital because the mood is usually more relaxed.
-

For this reason, an additional factor of 10/3 has been incorporated into the formulae used in calculating the recommended separation distance for transmitters in these frequency ranges.
c Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/ cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the Model WDP-303936 is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the Model WDP-303936 should be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or relocating the Model WDP-303936.
d Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than 10 V/m.
NOTE 2 The ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) bands between 0,15 MHz and 80 MHz are 6,765 MHz to 6,795 MHz; 13,553 MHz to 13,567 MHz; 26,957 MHz to 27,283 MHz; and 40,66 MHz to 40,70 MHz. The amateur radio bands between 0,15 MHz and 80 MHz are 1,8 MHz to 2,0 MHz, 3,5 MHz to 4,0 MHz, 5,3 MHz to 5,4 MHz, 7 MHz to 7,3 MHz, 10,1 MHz to 10,15 MHz, 14 MHz to 14,2 MHz, 18,07 MHz to 18,17 MHz, 21,0 MHz to 21,4 MHz, 24,89 MHz to 24,99 MHz, 28,0 MHz to 29,7 MHz and 50,0 MHz to 54,0 MHz.
NOTE 3 An additional factor of 10/3 has been incorporated into the formulae used in calculating the recommended separation distance for transmitters in the ISM frequency bands between 150 kHz and 80 MHz and in the frequency range 80 MHz to 2,7 GHz to decrease the likelihood that mobile/portable communications equipment could cause interference if it is inadvertently brought into patient areas.
NOTE 4 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people.
