How to install the 508193 converter?

First, insert the SFP+ module into the slot. Connect the fiber cable to the module and the RJ45 cable to the copper port. Plug in the 12 VDC power adapter, then check the LEDs: PWR should be on.

Which SFP+ module to use?

Use a SFP+ 10G module compatible with your fiber type (single-mode or multimode). The module is not included; choose based on distance and connector type (LC, SC).

Why does the PWR LED not light up?

Check that the power adapter is correctly connected to the converter and to a working outlet. Make sure to use the supplied 12 VDC 1 A adapter. If the problem persists, test with another outlet.

How to connect the fiber optic cable?

Insert the SFP+ module into the converter, then plug the fiber cable into the module. The other end of the cable should be connected to a corresponding fiber port on your network. The FX LNK/ACT LED lights up when a link is active.

What is the maximum supported distance?

The fiber distance depends on the SFP+ module: up to 80 km in single-mode. The copper distance via the RJ45 port is 100 m maximum with Cat5e or higher cable.

Can I use a Cat6 cable?

Yes, Cat6 cable is recommended for optimal performance at 10 Gbps. It supports the 100 m distance like Cat5e.

What to do if the link does not establish?

Check the LEDs: SD should be on if fiber signal is detected, 10G for data rate, and TX Link for copper link. Ensure modules and cables are properly inserted and 10G compatible.

Is the converter compatible with a 1G switch?

Yes, it is backward compatible with 1G networks. The 10G LED will be off if the link is below 10 Gbps. The data rate adapts automatically.

How to recycle the device at end of life?

In accordance with WEEE directive (2012/19/EU), do not dispose of the device with household waste. Return it to a local collection point or to the retailer for recycling.

Connect the UTP port of the media converter to an RJ45 port on the network; e.g., to an Ethernet switch. Cat5e or better cabling is recommended.

SFP+ Slot

This media converter requires an SFP+ transceiver module that provides fiber optic connections.

1 Insert the transceiver into the media converter. Next, install the fiber optic cable into the transceiver.
2 Install the other end of the fiber optic cable into an appropriate port in your fiber network.

Maximum length and fiber cable specification depend on the model.

Power

Plug the 12 VDC power adapter into the input jack on the media converter. Then connect it to a regular power outlet. Only use the included power adapter or one with matching specifications (output of 12 VDC, 1 A).
