Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply

Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label. This product complies with all binding CE labelling directives.

Important safety instructions

  • In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
  • Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
    • Always clean the appliance after use. Wipe the blade, food carriage and leftover holder with a damp cloth.
  • Be careful when handling the blade. Risk of injury!

- We strongly recommend that the appliance is only used with the sliding tray and end-piece holder properly installed and in position. Exceptions may be made only if required by the size or shape of the food to be sliced.

- This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as

  • by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,

  • Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance.

  • Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.

  • Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
  • Do not allow the slicer to come into contact with open flames or any hot surface such as hotplates.
  • Do not operate the slicer if the sliding tray, stop plate or base plate have not been correctly fitted.
  • For safety reasons, always bring the stop plate back to its rest (zero) position after use, so that it is flush with the blade.
  • Do not allow the power cord to come into contact with the blade.
  • Keep your hair, hands, and loose clothing away from moving parts, openings, and vents to avoid entanglement.
  • No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.

Intended Use

  • This appliance has been designed for slicing bread, sausage, ham, cheese, cold roasts and other fresh foods that are hard to slice.
  • The appliance is not suitable for cutting frozen food, meat with bones or rolled roasts in the mesh.

Operating time

The appliance is designed for short-time operation (short operation 5 min.), i.e. you can use the universal slicer for up to 5 minutes without interruption. The motor must then be switched off to cool down.

Before using the appliance for the first time

  • Unpack the appliance completely and remove any protective foils etc.
  • Before first use, the unit should be cleaned with a damp cloth, as described in Cleaning and care.

Assembling the food carriage

Insert the latching tabs of the food carriage attachment into the white plate of the food carriage until it snaps into place.

Positioning the slicer

  • Place the universal slicer on a smooth, stable support surface.
  • Completely unwind the power cord and guide it through the cable guide on the back of the appliance.

Folding out the support table

Fold the support table down to the horizontal use position until you hear an audible click.

Fitting the sliding tray

  • Hold the food carriage vertically against the support table so that the two hooks on the food carriage grip under the support table.
  • Then pull the food carriage upwards under the support table and fold it 90^ onto the support table.
  • The food carriage is now in the guide groove of the support table.

Setting thickness

  • The cutting thickness can be adjusted steplessly with the adjustment knob.
  • To avoid injuries to the blade, move the stop plate with the adjustment knob back to the zero position after each use so that the stop plate is flush with the blade.

Safety switch

  • To turn on the motor, first press the release button (☐) and then the push button switch ().
  • When the push button switch is released, the appliance switches off.

Slicing

  • Adjust the desired thickness of the slices.
  • Place a suitable collecting tray to the left of the appliance.
  • Use the right hand to place the food to be sliced on to the sliding tray and to press it against the stop plate.
  • If necessary, place the leftover holder on the food carriage with the nubby side facing the food. The leftover holder ensures safe guidance of the food being sliced.
  • First press the release button with your left hand while pressing the push button switch.
  • Guide the food carriage against the running blade. Press the food to be cut lightly against the blade with the leftover holder.
  • Remove the cut food to the left of the appliance.

Cleaning and care

General

  • Always remove the plug from the wall socket before detaching any accessories, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • After switching off, always wait until the blade has come to a complete standstill. Bring the stop plate back to its rest (zero) position, so that the blade does not protrude.
  • To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
  • Do not use sharp, abrasive cleaning agents or hard brushes.
  • If necessary, only wipe the housing with a slightly damp cloth.
  • The leftover holder and the food carriage can be cleaned in warm water with detergent (not in the dishwasher).

Cleaning and removing the blade

  • The blade is very sharp, risk of injury! Only hold the blade by its centre part; do not hold the blade by its edge.
  • Wipe the stainless steel blade with a slightly damp cloth. You should also regularly clean the space behind the blade
  • To release the blade, turn the lock in the middle of the blade by approx. 90^ to the right into the vertical position.
  • In order to insert the blade, set it in the blade holder and turn the lock to the left into the horizontal position.

Detaching the base plate

  • The support table can be removed for cleaning.
  • The support table is guided with pins on both sides. When folded into the vertical position, the support table can be pulled out of the guide laterally with the pins.
  • Clean the support table in rinsing water and dry thoroughly.
  • After cleaning, reinsert the pins into the guides.

Storing the appliance

For space-saving storage, remove the leftover holder and food carriage and fold up the support table.

Cord winder

Stow away the power cord after use using the cord winder on the underside of the appliance.
