USER MANUAL AMS 14 4 EINHELL
Please read the instructions for use carefully and observe the information provided. It is important to consult these instructions in order to acquaint yourself with the tool, its proper use and safety precautions.
Important!
For safety reasons this battery-powered tree pruning saw is not to be used by children, young people under 16 years of age, or any other persons who are not acquainted with these instructions for use.
The replaceable battery supplied with your cordless multi-saw is not charged. Before the saw can be used for the first time, you must charge the battery.
The battery does not reach its maximum capacitance until it has been charged and discharged approximately five times.
- NC batteries lose their charge even when they are not being used. Regular charging is therefore recommended. Capacitance losses can be compensated by timer-controlled daily recharging periods of approx. 30 minutes.
- Please check the data marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Connect the battery charger only to an identical mains supply to that on the rating plate.
In heavy use the battery will become warm. Allow it to cool to room temperature before commencing with the charging.
- Keep the battery away from fire and water.
- Never use defective or deformed batteries.
- Never open a battery!
- Never short-circuit the battery contacts.

Used and defective batteries do not belong in the refuse bin. Think of the environment - cadmium is toxic. For proper disposal of used and defective batteries, send them postage-paid to Einhell or take them to a special collecting station in your area. Ask at your local council offices for the nearest used battery collecting station.
2. Safety regulations
Caution! Danger!
The blade runs on after the saw is switched off!
-Examine the saw each time before you use it. Do not use the saw if any safety devices and/or the blade are damaged or worn. Never put safety devices out of operation.
Use the saw only for the purpose specified in these instructions.
- Never wear loose clothes, jewellery, etc. They may become caught in the machine. Wear anti-slip shoes and gloves. Wear long trousers to protect your legs.
Make sure that there are no other persons (particularly children) or animals close to where you are working.
- You are responsible for safety in your work area.
Inspect the items you want to cut before starting to work. Remove any foreign objects. If you hit upon an obstacle while cutting, turn off the machine (release the ON switch) and remove the obstacle.
-Examine the charging cable regularly for signs of damage and age (brittleness). Use only if it is in perfect condition.
Work only in good visibility.
Always make sure of your footing while working. Be careful when stepping backwards. Risk of stumbling!
- Never leave the saw unattended at your work place. Store the saw in a safe place during interruptions.
If you interrupt your work to move to a different position, it is imperative to switch off the saw while you are moving there.
- Never use the saw in the rain or in moist or wet conditions.
- Protect your battery-powered saw from the damp and rain.
- Keep the battery charger and multi-saw safe from children.
- Never use the battery-powered multi-saw in the vicinity of vapours and inflammable liquids.
- Never throw used batteries in an open fire. Risk of explosion!
GB
- Avoid contact with leaky batteries. In the event of contact, wash the affected area of skin immediately with water and soap. If battery acid gets in your eye, rinse out the eye with water for at least 1 minute and consult a doctor at once.
- Protect the battery charger and cable from damage and sharp edges. Damaged cables are to be replaced without delay by an electrician.

5. Putting into operation
Charging the NC battery
- Pull the battery out of the handle by depressing the catches on the side (1).

- Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. You can now plug the battery charger in a socket-outlet.
- Insert the battery in the charging adapter. An empty battery requires a maximum charging period of 12 hours. A battery with residual capacitance takes accordingly less time to charge. The temperature of the battery may rise slightly during the charging operation. This is normal.
Please note!
No automatic switch-off when the battery is fully charged!
If the battery fails to charge, please check
whether there is voltage at the socket-outlet
whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the battery charger
If you still fail to charge the battery, please return
the power supply unit with charging adapter, and
the battery
to our ISC Service Centre.
In the interest of long battery life, recharge the NC battery punctually. Recharging is always necessary when you notice that the power of your multi-saw is decreasing.
Never allow the battery to discharge completely. This will cause a defect in the NC battery!
Inserting the saw blade
First take the battery out of the saw each time you want to insert the saw blade.
- Undo the screw (1).
- Slide the blade into the blade holder as far as the stop (2).
- Re-tighten the screw (1) to stabilize the blade.

Safety lock-off
The battery-operated multi-saw has a safety lock-off device to prevent the saw from being switched on accidentally.
To start the multi-saw, release the safety lock-off (1) by pushing it backwards and then press the ON switch (2).

Sawing
Press the stop rest (3) of the battery-powered multi-saw against the branch you want to cut. The stop rest is designed to help you produce safe and clean cuts. You can now cut off the branch with ease by simply switching on the saw.
When you notice that the cutting power is decreasing, re-charge the saw at once to prevent the battery from discharging completely.

Important!
The switches fitted to the saw by the manufacturer are not to be
removed or bridged, e.g. by tying down a switch on the handle, or the saw will not switch off automatically and there will be a high risk of injury.
Important!
It is imperative to wear safety gloves, goggles, a helmet and protective clothing!
6. Cleaning and maintenance
To prolong the useful life of your battery-powered multi-saw you should always clean it thoroughly after use.

Important!
Never clean with running water, and certainly not under high pressure. Risk of injury to persons
and damage to property.
Keep the multi-saw in a dry and frost-proof place. Choose a place that children are unable to enter.
