USER MANUAL Elite Tactical XRS3 BUSHNELL
LMSS22 TRIPOD MOUNTING Your Elite Tactical LMSS2 spotting scope should be mounted on a high quality, stable tripod (not included) to ensure safe operation and a vibration-free viewing experience. Attach the scope’s mounting base (I) (1/4”-20 thread) to the screw on the tripod’s platform, so that the scope is held securely in place and provides a level view (adjust tripod as needed).
USING THE ZOOM EYEPIECE AND FOCUSING
Turn the focus ring (C) in either direction until your subject appears as sharp as possible. To reduce the need to readjust focus when zooming, set the zoom to its highest power and focus on your subject. When you zoom back down to lower powers, it will minimize the need for additional focus adjustment. Rotate the zoom ring (D) on the eyepiece to change magnifying power from low to high. The throw lever (E) provides faster operation when rapid changes in magni cation are needed (it can be removed if necessary). Lower power settings will provide a brighter image with a wider eld of view; higher powers allow observing smaller details on more distant subjects. Note: the eyepiece section of the scope is not interchangeable. Do not attempt to remove the eyepiece from the scope. USING THE TWIST-UP EYECUP AND DIOPTER ADJUSTMENT
1. Twist the rubber eyecup (B) clockwise to retract it into the scope, allowing access to the diopter ring (A).
2. If the reticle appears blurry, rotate the diopter adjustment ring (A) with the scope aimed at a blank wall or empty sky to ensure the reticle is sharp for your eyesight. 3. Twist the eyecup out (counter-clockwise) to adjust it for a comfortable view, ensuring that you can see the entire image (full eld of view). If you wear eyeglasses, you may prefer to retract it back down. Thank you for purchasing your new Bushnell® Elite Tactical LMSS2 Spotting Scope. The LMSS2 (lightweight modular spotting scope) is a low pro le 60mm spotting scope with an extended 5:1 magni cation ratio (8 to 40 power) with a choice of two reticles designed by Horus Vision®. Other signi cant features include:
- ED (Extra Low Dispersion) Prime Glass providing dramatic improvement in color correction with superior contrast and resolution, even in low-light conditions.
- O-ring sealed, waterproof/fogproof, lightweight but rugged aluminum chassis, constructed of the nest materials and assembled to the highest quality standards.
- User con gurable accessory mounting rail (Picatinny/Weaver standard). This manual will help you optimize your viewing experience by explaining how to utilize the scope’s controls and features, and how to care for it. Read the instructions carefully before using your scope. Once set, the eyepiece diopter should not need further adjustment, and the eyecup can be extended again if desired. Do not use the eyepiece diopter to focus on your subject, only to focus the reticle. Use the main focus ring if the subject is not sharp.
ACCESSORY MOUNTING RAIL
The LMSS2 includes a Picatinny/Weaver mounting rail (F) for accessories (red dot sights, lasers, night vision, illumination, etc.). This rail can be positioned to the user’s preference on the scope’s top, left side or right side. Simply remove the two short screws from the preferred position, then attach the rail using the provided pair of long screws. Torque to 12-15 lbf*in.
HORUS VISION® TACTICAL RETICLES
Model# ET884060H has a Horus H322™ reticle, model# ET884060T has a Horus T4 (Tremor4™) reticle. The H322 reticle is an ideal parallel reference when working with a shooter using a riescope with the Horus H58™ or H59™ reticle. The T4 reticle provides a calibrated reference for riescopes with Horus Tremor2™ or Tremor3™ reticles. Images of each reticle are shown on the next page. Full technical specications and key features/facts for each reticle can be found on the Horus Vision website: https://horusvision.com. WATERPROOF / FOGPROOF Getting caught in a heavy downpour of rain with your spotter won’t be a problem. Elite Tactical LMSS2 spotting scopes are manufactured and tested to withstand water exposure to IPX7 standards. Fogproof protection is achieved from dry argon gas purging that displaces all internal air, which can retain moisture. All exterior lens surfaces have our new EXO Barrier™ coating (in addition to full multi-coating). EXO Barrier, quite simply, is the best protective lens coating technology Bushnell has ever developed. Added at the end of the coating process, EXO Barrier molecularly bonds to the lens and lls the microscopic pores in the glass. The result is an ultra-slick coating that repels water, oil, fog, dust and debris - rain, snow, ngerprints and dirt will not stick. EXO Barrier is built to last: the bonded coating will not fade with the passage of time or normal wear and tear.
CLEANING AND GENERAL CARE
The lenses of your Bushnell Elite Tactical LMSS2 spotting scope are fully multi-coated for highest light transmission. As with any multi-coated optics, special care must be taken in cleaning the lenses. Follow these tips for proper lens cleaning:
- Blow away any dust or debris on the lens (or use a soft lens brush).
- To remove dirt or nger prints, clean with the supplied micro-ber cloth rubbing in a circular motion. Use of a coarse cloth or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. The included washable microber cleaning cloth is ideal for the routine cleaning of your optics. Simply breathe lightly on the lens to provide a slight amount of moisture, then gently rub the lens with the microber cloth.
- For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic-type lens cleaning uid or isopropyl alcohol may be used. Always apply the uid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens. Never disassemble your spotting scope. Irreparable damage can result from unauthorized service attempts, which also void the warranty. The H322™ reticle features a square HORUS Grid and HORUS Rapid Range Bars. Designed for use with the H59 and H58 riescope reticles. Mil radian calibration. Horus H322™ Spotting Reticle Model ET884060H Copyright 2019 © Horus Vision Reticle Technologies5 Horus H322™ Spotting Reticle SPECIFICATIONS KEY FEATURES
- The H322 reticle is designed to be used with the H58 or H59 riescope reticle, allowing the shooter and spotter to view a target with the same common frame of reference.
- Patented Horus Rapid Range Bars, for quickly estimating range to targets of known size. Numbers indicate distance in mils of specic range bar from the horizontal line beneath it.
- Spotting reticle for observational measurement.
- Mil line across the center of the reticle grid is to facilitate target measurement, target speed estimation, Second Shot Correction, and to help with target location.
- The H322 is not currently available with illumination.
- Secondary horizontal lines allow precise elevation holds. The standard spacing between the secondary horizontal lines is exactly 1 mil.
- To compensate for wind, drift, speed of target, etc.: each secondary horizontal stadia line is calibrated with “large hash marks” spaced exactly 1 mil apart; between each of the large hash marks, there are smaller evenly spaced hash marks that are exactly 0.2 mils apart.
- The Horus Grid allows you to quickly and accurately make a Second Shot Correction if your rst shot misses. KEY FACTS
- The H322 spotting scope reticle is located below the central viewing area.
- Central targeting grid calibrated in USMC mils (6283 mils/circle) (1 mil = 3.60 inches at 100 yards) (10cm at 100 meters).
