Frequently Asked Questions - BS901 Duronic

How to pair the BS901 scale with my smartphone?

To pair the scale, download the TransHealth app from the App Store or Google Play. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone, open the app, then press and hold the UNIT button on the back of the scale. Connection symbols appear on the LCD screen. Once pairing is successful, the Bluetooth symbol appears.

Why does the display show 'Err' or 'O-Ld'?

The 'O-Ld' error means the load exceeds 180 kg (overload). The device will turn off in 4 seconds. The 'Err' error may indicate a Bluetooth pairing issue. Check that Bluetooth and the app are enabled and devices are close.

How to change the measurement unit (kg, stone, lb)?

After installing the batteries, press the UNIT button on the back of the scale to switch between units: kilogram (kg), stone (st), and pound (lb). The default unit is the kilogram.

What to do if the scale does not turn on?

Check that the four AAA batteries are correctly installed with correct polarity. If the low battery symbol appears, replace all four batteries at once with new ones.

How to clean the BS901 scale?

Use a soft dry cloth to remove dust. For dirt, use a well-wrung damp cloth (water only), then dry with a dry cloth. Never immerse the scale in water and do not use abrasive or chemical products.

Why are body fat measurements unstable?

Measurements can be affected by incorrect posture, cold or dry feet, or an uneven surface. Step on barefoot, stand still, and place the scale on a hard, flat surface. Warm your feet if necessary and maintain moist contact with the electrodes.

Data is not transmitting to the app. What to do?

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone, the TransHealth app is open, and both devices are within 10 meters without obstacles. If the transmission icon still flashes, restart the app or re-pair.

Can I use this scale if I have a pacemaker?

No. The scale uses a low-intensity electric current for impedance analysis. It is contraindicated for people with a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator, or any other electronic medical device.

What is the warranty of the BS901 scale?

The Duronic BS901 scale is warranted for 1 year by Shine-Mart Ltd, from the date of purchase. The warranty covers manufacturing and electrical defects, but not normal wear, misuse, or unauthorized repairs.

How to interpret the displayed body fat percentages?

The body fat chart is in the manual. It provides ranges by age and gender: low, normal, high. For example, for a man aged 20-29, a fat percentage <13% is low, 13-20% normal, >23% high. Consult your doctor for a personalized interpretation.

• Our Glass Body Fat Analyzer measures weight and uses bio-electrical impedance analysis (BIA) technology to estimate body fat, total body water percentage, bone mass, and muscle mass in generally healthy adults 18 years of age or older.

• It is intended for domestic use only.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

1. This device is contraindicated for any female subject who may be suspected of, or is pregnant. Besides providing inaccurate readings, the affects of this device on the fetus are unknown.
2. This device is contraindicated for any person who is connected to a wearable or implantable electronic device or instrument such as a pacemaker or defibrillator.

YOUR SCALE AND ITS ENVIRONMENT

To ensure your safety as well as the service life of your scale, please avoid using the scale under the following circumstances:

• With any other medical devices.
• On slippery floors such as a tile floor
• Jumping onto the platform immediately after bath or with wet hands
• Near a cell phone or microwave oven

Efficient Use of Your Scale

• Place the scale on a flat, hard surface. Soft surfaces such as carpet will affect the performance of the scale.
• Step onto the scale with bare feet. Stand still and keep full contact with the electrodes until the measurement is complete.
• Start measurement at least two hours after getting up or eating.
• Avoid measurement immediately after strenuous exercise, a sauna or bath, drinking and eating.
• Always start the measurement at approximately the same time and on the same scale, on the same flat, hard surface.

General Instructions

• Our Glass Body Fat Analyzer BS901 applies BIA (Bio-impedance Analysis) technology. A small amount of weak current flows through the human body so as to detect the bio-impedance and estimate body fat. The electrical current is small and may not be felt.
• This BIA technology is cheap, safe, non-invasive, toxic-free and harmless. It also simple to use and provides a lot of information.
• The current mentioned above is less than 1mA . However, please be aware that anyone with an wearable or implantable medical electronic instrument, such as a pacemaker, must avoid using this device.
• The intended use of this device is for adult and indoor use only.

Insert the Batteries

• Open the battery compartment in the back of the scale.
• Insert the batteries (4 x 1.5V AAA) into the battery
  compartment according to the polarity indications marked inside the compartment.
• The digits "8888" will be shown on the LCD.
• Close the battery door and wait until the digits
  "0.0kg" are shown on the LCD.

CAUTION

When the symbol appears, the device will turn off in four seconds. You should then replace the batteries. Please replace all four batteries at the same time. Do NOT mix the old batteries with the new ones.

Worn batteries are hazardous waste. Do NOT dispose of them together with the household garbage. Please refer to the local ordinances and recycling instructions regarding disposal of the worn batteries.

Install the App and Pair-Up

With the advanced Bluetooth 4.0 technology, mobile or portable devices which are equipped with Bluetooth function in line with BLE Technical Specifications as well as BLP Protocol established by global organization Bluetooth SIG, are capable to receive your personal health data.

Just simply install the specially-designed app and pair up your scale with your mobile or portable equipments.

The free App "TransHealth" is now available on the App Store. Simply search for the app, then download and install the app in your iPhone.

Turn on Bluetooth and the App. Make sure both are ON when pair-up is proceeding.

Press and hold "UNIT" button in the back of the scale to start pair-up.

Symbol 日 and symbol 0 will be shown on the LCD alternatively, indicating pair-up is proceeding.

If the connection is successful, the symbol [ ]will be shown on the LCD.

If unsuccessful, the symbol "E1" will be shown on the LCD.

Selecting the measurement Unit

With batteries correctly installed, press "UNIT" button in the back of the scale to select measurement unit. The default measurement unit is "kilogram". You may press the "UNIT" button to choose between kilogram, stone and pound.

Daily Measurement

With original SENSE ON patent technology, the BS901 will automatically switch on as you step on the platform barefooted.

Stand still and keep full contact with the electrodes until the LCD stops displaying moving "o".

When your scale is successfully paired with your Bluetooth device and the Bluetooth is ON, BS901 will process data transmission automatically. (Please refer to Data Transmission for more details.)

Data Transmission

When the connection is successful, the measurement data will be automatically transmitted to your device via Bluetooth.

The symbol will disappear after successful data transmission and you may check your personal health data stored in your Bluetooth device.

If the data transmission fails, the symbol will remain. The pending measurement data will be temporarily kept in the scale and transmitted to your Bluetooth device when next measurement is complete.

Interference may occur in the vicinity of equipment marked with the following symbol (1)

The scale may interfere with electrical equipment in its vicinity.
To enable the data transmission function, this product should be paired to a
Bluetooth device at 2.4 GHz.
How to mitigate possible interference?

1. The range between the scale and the Bluetooth device should be reasonably close, from 1 to 10 meters. Please ensure there are no obstacles between the scale and the Bluetooth device so as to obtain quality connection.

2. To avoid interference, other electronic devices (particularly those with Bluetooth transmission / Transmitter) should be kept at least 1 meter away from the scale.
