Open the packaging and take out the equip- ment with care.

Remove the packaging material and any packaging and/or transportation braces (if available).

Check to see if all items are supplied.

Inspect the equipment and accessories for transport damage.

If possible, please keep the packaging until the end of the guarantee period. Danger! The equipment and packaging material are not toys. Do not let children play with plastic bags, foils or small parts. There is a danger of swallowing or suff ocating!

The cordless pipe cleaner is suitable for removing blockages in domestic waste water pipes. The equipment is to be used only for its prescri- bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju- ries of any kind caused as a result of this. Please note that our equipment has not been de- signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. The stated vibration emission levels and stated noise emission values were measured in ac- cordance with a set of standardized criteria and can be used to compare one power tool with another. The vibration and noise emission levels may vary from the level specifi ed during actual use, depen- ding on the way in which the power tool is used, especially the type of workpiece it is used for. Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to a minimum.

5. Before starting the equipment

Warning! Always remove the battery before making adjust- ments to the machine.

6.1 Adjusting the direction of rotation and

movement of the cleaning coil (Fig. 5) The machine has two controls for adjusting the cleaning coil: the Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever (2) and the direction of rotation switch (3). The direction of rotation and movement of the cleaning coil (1) will change depending on how the controls are set. Direction of rotation switch (3) at setting R: The cleaning coil (1) will always turn clockwise as seen from the operator’s position. Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever (2) at: Forward setting: The cleaning coil (1) will be moved out Neutral setting: The cleaning coil (1) will be moved neither out nor in Reverse setting: The cleaning coil (1) will be moved in Direction of rotation switch at setting L: The cleaning coil will always turn counter- clockwise as seen from the operator’s posi- tion. Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever at: Forward setting: The cleaning coil will be moved in Neutral setting: The cleaning coil will be moved neither out nor in Reverse setting: The cleaning coil will be moved out Note: An overview is provided in Table 11 “Direction of rotation and movement of the cleaning coil”.

6.2 On/Off switch (Fig. 1/Item 4)

6.3 Cleaning procedure

Danger! Always work with the machine as close as pos- sible to the pipe inlet. This will prevent you from coming into contact with the rotating cleaning coil with risk of injury. To dislodge a blockage in a pipe, work with the machine rotating clockwise. In this case the cleaning coil will work its way – like a corkscrew – into the blockage (e.g. toilet paper etc.) and get caught there. Then you can dislodge the blockage by moving the cleaning coil out and back in again several times using the Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever (2), after which you can remove the cleaning coil from the pipe. After the blockage has been removed you should check the result with suffi cient water, repeating the procedure as often as necessary until the pipe is completely free again. In the case of blockages that do not get caught up on the cleaning coil (e.g. soap residues), the blo- ckage will be dislodged from the pipe by the ro- tating cleaning coil and can then be rinsed out of the pipe with suffi cient water. In this case too you must repeat the procedure as often or as long as necessary until the pipe is completely free again. It is also possible to pull out the cleaning coil (1) manually (see Fig. 6). In this case move the Forward/Neutral/Reverse lever (2) to the Neutral setting and then pull the coil out of the machine. If the cleaning coil becomes stuck during the cleaning operation and no longer lets itself be removed from the pipe simply by pulling, move the direction of rotation switch (3) to the setting L and try again to remove the cleaning coil from the pipe. Important! If the drainage has an odor trap, remove it. Danger! Do not wear any loose fi tting clothes or jewelry. There is a risk of them getting caught up in the cleaning coil or the storage drum! If you have long hair, you should use a hair-net! Danger! The contents of the drainage might be infectious and/or contain aggressive substances. It is re- commended therefore to wear safety goggles and mouth or face protection!

6.4 Cleaning the cleaning coil (1)

When you have fi nished cleaning the pipe, you should clean and dry the cleaning coil thoroughly with a clean rag before you move it fully into the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5). Any water that might collect in the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5) can be removed from the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5) by opening the cleaning/emptying openings for the storage drum (6) and leaving them open until the drum has dried completely. If any dirt collects in the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5), you can rinse it out of the drum with clear water by opening the two cleaning/ emptying openings for the storage drum (6) and continue rinsing until there is no more dirt in the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5). Then remove all the remaining water from the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5) and leave the two cleaning/emptying openings for the storage drum (6) open until the drum is completely dry. The two cleaning/emptying openings for the sto- rage drum (6) must be closed again before the machine is used the next time.

6.5 Replacing the cleaning coil (Fig. 1.1)

A damaged or worn cleaning coil can be replaced by a new one. To do so, pull the cleaning coil out of the machine until you can see the connecting piece (8). The screw on the connecting piece must be undone. Now you can simply pull off the old cleaning coil (1) and fi t the new one in reverse order. Finally check that the screw on the connec- ting piece (8) is tight. The new cleaning coil (1) can now be moved into the storage drum for the cleaning coil (5).

Press the On/Off switch (4) to switch on the LED light (7). You will then have a better view of the work area. When you let go of the On/Off switch (4) the light will continue to shine for another 10 seconds or so before it goes out.

6.7 Charging the Li battery pack (Fig. 2+3)

1. Remove the battery pack (a) from the handle,

pressing the pushlock button (b) downwards to do so.

2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as

that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger (c) into the mains socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to fl ash.

3. Push the battery pack onto the battery char-

ger. In section 10 (Charger indicator) you will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger. If the battery pack fails to charge, check for the following:

whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the charging unit If the battery pack still fails to charge, send

the charger and charging adapter

and the battery pack to our customer service center. To ensure that items are properly packaged and delivered when you send them to us, please contact our customer service or the point of sale at which the equipment was purchased. When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and fi res. To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser- vice, you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the device drops. Never allow the battery pack to become fully di- scharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.

6.8 Battery capacity indicator (Fig. 4/Pos. e)

Press the button for the battery capacity indicator (d). The battery capacity indicator (e) shows the charge status of the battery using 3 LEDs. All 3 LEDs are lit: The battery is fully charged. 2 or 1 LED(s) are lit: The battery has an adequate remaining charge. 1 LED fl ashes: The battery is empty, recharge the battery. All LEDs blink: The battery temperature is too low. Remove the battery from the equipment, keep it at room tem- perature for one day. If the fault reoccurs, this me- ans that the rechargeable battery has undergone exhaustive discharge and is defective. Remove the battery from the equipment. Never use or charge a defective battery. 7. Cleaning, maintenance and

ordering of spare parts Danger! Always pull out the mains power plug before star- ting any cleaning work.

Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.

We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.

Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at- tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu- re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

8. Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre- vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offi ces.

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original pa- ckaging. The reasons can be: - The rechargeable battery has not been used for a very long time. - The battery temperature is outside the ideal range. Action: Wait for the charging to be completed; you can still continue to charge the battery pack. Flashing Flashing Fault Charging is no longer possible. The battery pack is defective. Action: Never charge a defective battery pack. Take the battery pack out of the charger. On On Temperature fault The battery pack is too hot (e.g. due to direct sunshine) or too cold (below 0° C). Action: Remove the battery pack and keep it at room temperature (approx. 20° C) for one day . To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot. Recycling alternative to the return request: As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any ac- cessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.
