Intended Use
The electric raclette grill is designed for low-fat grilling of meat, fish or vegetables and for gratinating with cheese.
Any use other than that described in these instructions must be considered improper and may lead to personal injury or material damage.
Before first use
- Remove any packing materials completely.
- Before first use, wipe the reversible grill plate and mini-pans with a damp cloth.
- Leave the appliance with the reversible grill plate and mini-pans in place to heat up for about 10 minutes without food to allow any unpleasant odour to dissipate (you may notice slight smoke coming from the appliance). Ensure adequate ventilation by opening windows or balcony doors.
- Clean the appliance afterwards as described in Cleaning and care.
Reversible grill plate
- Before use, place the reversible grill plate on the appliance.
- You can use either side of the reversible grill plate. The ribbed section is ideal for grilling meat, sausages, etc., whereas the smooth one is particularly suitable for fish and vegetables.
- Oil lightly before use.
Variable thermostat and indicator light
- The thermostat serves to regulate the temperature between MIN and MAX.
- The indicator light shows the current heating status:
Heating on = indicator light on
Heating off = indicator light off - After use, return the thermostat to its lowest setting and unplug the appliance from the mains supply.
Operation
Hint: For the very best results, meat should be taken from the refrigerator about half an hour before grilling, covered and left to stand.
- Place the reversible grill plate on the appliance.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and turn the thermostat all the way to the right.
- Let the appliance preheat for about 10 minutes to reach the required temperature.
- Place the food to be cooked on the reversible grill plate.
- Put the raclette cheese into the mini-pans. Place the mini-pans in the appliance, under the heating element, and leave them until the cheese has melted.
- Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans in the appliance while it is switched on.
- When cooking is finished, turn the thermostat all the way to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains.
How to prepare raclette cheese
Use about 200 to 300 grammes of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices of about 3 to 5 mm thickness and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese. Any other fast melting cheese, however, is also suitable.
Practical hints
- Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked.
- To avoid damage to the coating of the reversible grill plate and mini-pans, use only non-abrasive utensils.
- When grilling larger amounts of food, accumulated fat should be carefully removed from time to time, using suitable kitchen towels or similar.
Cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth.
- Remove the pans and the reversible grill plate once they have cooled down, and rinse in a little hot water. If necessary, some mild detergent may be used. Wipe thoroughly dry again with a soft cloth.
