Warning:

Before putting the unit in operation, it is essential to observe the operating manual instructions. The person of no knowledge of the hedge scissors are recommended to read the manual of operating and maintenance thoroughly and thus to prevent injuries and damages.

On the work site, the user is liable to third persons.

Keep the area of your work tidy. A messy workplace invites risks of injury.

If the power cable or the plug are damaged due to external effects, the cable should not be repaired. The damaged cable shall be replaced with a new one. The work of the kind is allowed to be done by an expert electrician only.

Use According to Provisions

Warning! This hedge scissors are good for cutting hedges, shrubbery and bushes. Any other use not explicitly allowed in this manual may result in a damage of scissors and may be risky for the user. The hedge scissors are equipped with a two hand operated safety switch. The scissors work only when you push the switch button on the guiding handle and the button on the hand grip with the other hand.

If one of the switches is released, the cutting blades will stop.

Warning: Operation of the hedge scissors without the hand protection cover is not permitted.

- The noise of this electrical tool is measured according to ISO 3744, NFS 31-031 (2000/14 EG). Noise on the site must not exceed 85 dB (A). If that is the case, the operators need the noise protection equipment.

Electrical Connection to Mains

The unit may be operated on single phase a/c of alternating voltage 230 V 50 Hz. There is protection insulation on the unit and therefore, it may be connected to sockets without protection connectors. Before putting it in operation, be sure that the system voltage conforms with the operating voltage shown on the plate showing the unit performance data.

Initial Operation

Caution! These hedge scissors are intended for cutting hedges, shrubbery and decorative bushes.

Any other use not expressly stated in this manual may cause a severe damage of the scissors and present a severe risk to the user. The hedge scissors have a two-hand operated safety switch fitted. The hedge scissors work only if the switch button on the guiding handle with one hand (Fig. 1/pos. 3) a while the other hand pushes the switch on the handle (Fig. 1/ pos. 4) If one of the switches is stopped, the cutting blades will stop. Be careful about the cutting blades landing run. Test the cutting blades function. Two side cutting blades go contrary and ensure a high cutting performance and easy run.

- Before the use, attach the extension cable by hanging it in the cable holder (see Fig.1/pos. 5).

Use the cables approved for use outdoors.

- Branches larger than 14 mm in diameter should by cut off with branch shears first.

Trapezoid cut corresponds with the natural growth of plant and enables hedges to thrive.

  • First, it is necessary to cut side areas from bottom up. The top surface area is than cut according to one's own taste in form of a roof, straight or round.
  • Safety cutting strip has cutting teeth, round on the sides and arranged with offset in order to decrease the risk of injury. An additional protection against impact prevents an unpleasant backlash when the tool hits against wall, fence etc. (Fig. 4).
  • If the blade is blocked with hard articles, the unit must be switched off immediately. Unplug the unit and only then remove it.
  • Caution: Metal articles, such as wire fences, plant supports may lead to damaging the cutting strip
  • Always lead the cable in the direction from the working area. Work in the direction from the socket. Therefore, cutting unit should be settled firmly before the start of the work.
  • Periods of cutting:
  • Broadleaf hedges: June and October
  • Evergreen hedges: April and August
  • Conifer hedges: from May as necessary

Working Instructions

• In addition to hedges, the electrical scissors may be used for cutting shrubberies and bushes.
- The best cutting performance may be obtained by scissors and the hedge containing angle of approximately 15^ (Fig. 5).
- Two sided conflicting cutting blades make cutting in both the directions possible (Fig. 6).
- To obtain an even height of the hedge, it is recommend to stretch a thin string along the hedge as a direction cord. The branches beyond will be cut off (se Fig. 7).

  • The side surfaces of the hedge will be cut from down to top in arc movements (see Fig. 8).
  • Hand grip may be turned to make handling the scissors comfortable and practical. To do that, the lock button in the upper part of the hand grip is pushed by thumb (Fig. 3) and the grip is turned in a respective direction. (CAUTION: The handle may be transferred only when the unit is without voltage, i.e. unplugged and before being put in operation it should be put in a correct position safely and audibly – snapped.

Maintenance and Care

  • Before cleaning or shutting down the unit, switch it off and unplug.
  • To have the best possible performance, it is necessary to clean and lubricate the blades regularly. Remove the sediment with a brush and apply light oil film (see Fig. 9)

Use Biologically Degradable Oils.

  • The unit body and the plastic parts should be cleaned by light domestic detergents and wet cloth. Do not use any aggressive detergents or solvents.
  • Protect the unit from water entry in any case.

Disposal

Caution!

The hedge electrical scissors and accessories are of various materials, such as metal and plastic. Defective structural parts hand over to a collection facility for recycling.

Do not throw in a dustbin.

Ask about that in a special shop or the local administration.
