Operating Instructions Air Conditioner

  • Please read these instructions carefully and keep in a safe place. Important safety instructions The indoors unit should always stand on a level and firm floor. Fit the outdoors unit in horizontal position to an outdoors wall (split model only). Protect the outdoors unit from direct sunshine and rain (split model only). Never use the appliance near bath-tubs, showers or wash-basins. Keep the appliance away from heaters. Make sure that the air inlet and outlet are unobstructed. Keep a gap of at least 50 cm between the indoor unit and any walls or items of furniture. Do not place any objects on the appliance or hang anything over it. Never tip or spray water over the appliance. Avoid bringing the appliance into contact with chemicals. Always use the appliance with a filter mat. Do not touch the appliance with wet hands. Never start the appliance with the power plug. Always switch on the appliance with the start button on the control panel after the power plug is inserted. Clean the air filter whenever it is dirty. The appliance will then work much more efficiently. At the end of every season you should clean the appliance and have it checked by a specialist workshop. Young, old and disabled persons are not always aware of the hazards which may arise when using electrical equipment. For this reason you should never allow anyone from these categories to operate the appliance unsupervised. Further instructions Do not leave windows and doors open too long while the air conditioner is in operation. This could impair the efficiency of the air conditioner. Do not splash any water on the appliance. This could result in short-circuiting or faults. The air conditioner needs a constant alternating voltage in the range of 230V~ 50 Hz or the compressor will vibrate too severely and damage the cooling system. Optimal setting of the air current is important. In cooling mode the air grilles can be set to raised position. Never direct the air current at animals or plants or they may suffer. The EARTH lead (protective conductor) must be properly connected. Do not connect the earth lead to a gas pipe, water pipe, lightning conductor or telephone cable. Do not use the air conditioner for any other purposes, e.g. for the drying of clothes or for the dry-preserving of food. Do not attach any objects to the front of the outdoors unit in order to reduce noise. Place the outdoors unit where any noise or hot air currents will not disturb your neighbors. Call on a specialists if you hear any unusual noises while the air conditioner is working. Make sure your voltage supply is the same as that specified for the appliance. To avoid overheating, never use a multiple plug. Do not pull on the power or control cable. If you want to fit an electric safety switch, enlist the services of an electrician. Make sure the appliance is fitted with the correct fuse.

Anleitung MSK 3000 Split,5spr. 30.10.2001 7:15 Uhr Seite 9 Make sure the power cable (supply leads) are big enough in cross section. Only ever connect the air conditioner to a correctly installed 230 V~ 50 Hz socket-outlet. Never insert any objects in the air inlet or outlet. Caution! Persons may be injured and the appliance destroyed! Never pull on the power cable or any other leads to disconnect the appliance from the power supply. When the air conditioner is in use, it is best to keep doors and windows closed. The appliance cannot work correctly when doors and windows are open. Any smells which may be emitted by the indoors unit are not due to a malfunction or defect but are a sign of concentrated cigarette smoke, kitchen fumes, furniture emissions, etc. Important! It is essential for the air conditioner to have its own power supply lead. For safety reasons do not connect it to a multiple plug together with other appliances. Maintenance and repairs are to be left strictly to qualified electricians or air conditioning specialists. Extraction of moisture in the rainy period or in conditions of high humidity The air conditioner can extract moisture from the room air, producing drier and more agreeable conditions, without changing the temperature in the room.

The fan speed (air rate) can be regulated with the HIGH and LOW buttons.

The timer can be set for a range of 1 to 12 hours. If the timer is not set at all, the appliance will switch off automatically after 24 hours.

The display shows: the room temperature the time setting the temperature setting

If you press the SWING button, the vertical air grilles will swing from side to side for uniform distribution of the air. The horizontal air grilles have to be adjusted by hand.

Press this button to select the following settings: Automatic, Cooling, Air Circulation.

Use only this button to switch the appliance on and off. Starting the air conditioner POWER PLUG Insert the power plug in a socket- outlet. The current room temperature appears in the display on the control panel. STARTING Press the START button. The appliance will then start automatically. If the temperature is below 23 °C, only the fan will run. SETTING A FUNCTION Press the FUNCTION button to select the required setting: Automatic, Cooling or Ventilation SETTING THE TIME AND TEMPERATURE Press the temperature UP or temperature DOWN button to set the temperature of your choice. Press the TIMER button to set the operating time. SWITCHING OFF Press the ON/OFF button for the appliance to be switched off immediately. The horizontal direction of the air current is controlled by the horizontal air grilles. These grilles have to be adjusted by hand.

2. Adjusting the vertical air grilles:

Press the SWING button for the vertical air grilles to move back and forth from side to side. Draining off condensed water The appliance is equipped with an automatic drainage function. The water is discharged through a water hole in the outdoors unit (see Figure 1). It is also possible to connect a drainage pipe ( 14.5 mm to the water hole and have the water run into a container (see Figure 2). Make sure the water can run away unobstructed! Installing the outdoors unit Fasten the mounting bracket to an outdoors wall. Hook the outdoors unit on the mounting bracket so that it hangs straight. The unit should be no more 1.5 m from the ground.

Mounting bracket Pipe Anleitung MSK 3000 Split,5spr. 30.10.2001 7:15 Uhr Seite 13Connecting the outdoors unit to the indoors unit Connect the two cooling pipes by screwing together the threaded couplings. The threaded couplings are self-closing valves which will not open until the threaded couplings are screwed correctly together. You can also disconnect the threaded couplings again. In this case the valves will close automatically, preventing no loss of coolant. Use two fork wrenches to steady the cooling pipes against twisting. Plug the condensation water pipe on the nipple of the connection block. The condensation water pipe is included in the pipe pack together with the cooling pipe. In this same pack you will also find the plug connector for connecting the outdoors unit to the power supply. Before starting up the appliance you must still fit the rubber foot to the outdoors unit. This is only necessary, however, if the outdoors unit is to be placed on the ground. Insert the rubber stopper in the socket at the back of the outdoors unit if you have the outdoors unit standing on the terrace where condensation water escaping from the bottom of the outdoors unit causes no problem and can simply be wiped away. If, on the other hand, you have the outdoors unit hanging on an outdoors wall, remove the rubber stopper and fasten a drainage pipe to discharge the condensation water. Inside the outdoors unit there are two trays for collecting the condensation water. Only when no stopper is inserted will the condensation water escape through the drainage socket.

Heavily soiled filters should be carefully rinsed in warm water. Do not use hot water under any circumstances. Cleaning the housing It is best to clean the housing with a soft cloth. Never use aggressive detergents, petrol, chemically treated cloths or solvent as they may damage the housing. Troubleshooting The air conditioner fails to start. Check whether the power plug is fully inserted. Is there any electric current? Is there a power failure? Is the red lamp of the water level indicator on? If it is, check whether the tank is full and needs to be emptied or whether it is correctly inserted. Is the room temperature below 0°C? The air conditioner appears to make no impact. Is the filter dirty or is the air outlet blocked? The appliance appears to make very little impact. Are too many doors and windows open? Is there anything in the room producing a great deal of humidity? The fan does not appear to run. Is the filter heavily soiled and blocking the fan’s operation? The appliance is very loud. Is the appliance vibrating because it is tilted or not standing squarely? Is the floor uneven?
