7 FUEL

Note: this product is not supplied with fuel-oil mixture in the engine! Before operating this product it is essential to fill it with fuel-oil mixture!
7.1 Fuel and oil mixture
For best results use regular unleaded petrol mixed with 2-stroke air-cooled engine oil on a ratio of 40:1.

WARNING: Never use unmixed petrol in your engine. This will cause permanent damage and void the manufacturer's warranty for the product. Never use a fuel mixture that has been stored for more than 30 days.

WARNING: 2-stroke lubricant must be a premium grade oil for 2-stroke air-cooled engines mixed at a 40:1 ratio. Do not use any 2-stroke oil product with a recommended mix ratio of 100:1. If insufficient lubrication is the cause of engine damage, it voids the manufacturer's engine warranty.
7.1.1 Mixing fuel
Pour oil into an approved fuel canister followed by the petrol so that the petrol can mix with the oil. Shake container to ensure a thorough mix.

WARNING: Lack of lubrication voids engine warranty. Petrol and oil must be mixed at a 40:1 ratio.
7.2 Refueling
■ The engine must be switched off.
- Stop the engine during refueling, keep away from naked flames and do not smoke.
Take care not to spill either fuel or oil in order to prevent soil contamination (environmental protection). Clean the hedge trimmer immediately after fuel has been spilt.
- Do not spill any fuel onto the engine. Wipe up if necessary to avoid fire.
- Avoid any fuel contact with your clothing. Change your clothing instantly if fuel has been split on it (to prevent it catching fire).
- Inspect the fuel cap at regular intervals, making sure that it can be securely fastened and does not leak.
- Carefully tighten the fuel tank cap. Change location to start the engine (at least 3 metres away from the place of refuelling).
- Never refuel in enclosed rooms. Fuel vapors accumulate at ground level. (risk of potential explosions).
- Transport and store fuel only in approved containers. Make sure the fuel stored is not accessible to children.
- Thoroughly clean the area around the tank cap to prevent dirt from getting into the fuel tank.
- Unscrew the plug and fill the tank with fuel. Use a gauge funnel to filter the fuel.

- Move the cutting device lightly through the cutting surface in a sweeping motion following the shape of the hedge or shrub. A slight tilt down wards of the cutting device in the direction of motion is recommended for optimum cutting performance.
- Do not rush and do not attempt to cut too much with one stroke of the currling device.
- First cut both sides from the bottom cutting upwards to the top. This will prevent any of the trimmings falling into the path of the area still to be cut (Fig. 15)
■ After cutting the sides proceed to the top (Fig. 16). Try to keep the cutting device angled at approximately 15^ to the cutting surface. - Cut in a number of stages if the area being cut is particularly long to achieve a better result; smaller trimmings will allow for easy composting.

NOTE: When shaping it is advisable to achieve a trapezoidal shape (Fig. 17). A trapezoidal cut corresponds to the natural growth of plants and results in optimal hedge growth, as it will expose more light to the lower end of the hedge.

WARNING! TO STOP THE ENGINE IN AN EMERGENCY: Press and hold the ignition switch (11) to "STOP" position until engine stops.
8.4 After use
- Switch the product off, allow the engine to cool down and then remove the spark plug connector.

9.5 Fuel filter (Fig. 20)
When the engine runs short of fuel supply, check the fuel cap and the fuel filter (20) for blockage
9.6 Spark plug
- Starting failure and mis-firing are often caused by a fouled spark plug. Clean the spark plug and check that the plug gap is in the correct range. For a replacement plug, use the correct type.

Note that using any spark plug other than those designated may result in the engine failing to operate properly or in the engine becoming overheated and damaged.
- To install the spark plug, first turn the plug until it is finger tight, then tighten it a quarter turn more with a socket wrench.
9.7 Gear box (Fig. 21)
■ Refill gear housing every 25 working hours.
- Use grease pump. Use universal machine grease, universal copper grease or HP-R grease. Feed grease until it comes out of the base of blades.
9.8 Muffler
- Inspect periodically, the muffler for loose fasteners, any damage or corrosion. If any sign of exhaust leakage is found, stop using the machine and have it repaired immediately.
- Note that failing to do so may result in the engine catching on fire.
9.9 Intake air cooling vent (Fig. 22)

Never touch the cylinder, muffler, or spark plugs with your bare hands immediately after stopping the engine. The engine can become very hot when in operation, and doing so could result in severe burns.
Clean the cylinder fins with compressed air or a brush.

IMPORTANT! If waste gets stuck and causes blockage around the intake air cooling vent or between the cylinder fins, it may cause the engine to overheat, and that in turn may cause mechanical failure on the part of the hedge-trimmer.
9.10 Sharpening

Do not try to sharpen a damaged blade: change it or take it to a Service dealer.
Always keep the file or sharpener at an angle of 45^ to the blade, and:
