USER MANUAL WKS 8892 SEVERIN

- in staff kitchens in shops, ofces and similar working environments, - in agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. ∙ This appliance is not intended for commercial use, nor for use in the catering business or similar wholesale environments.

The cooling circuit in this appliance contains the refrigerant isobutane (R600a), a natural gas with a high level of environmental compatibility, which is nevertheless ammable. Ensure, therefore, that none of the components of the refrigerant circuit become damaged during transportation and installation of the appliance. If damage to the cooling circuit does occur, do not switch on or connect the appliance to the mains power. If there should be an open ame or any other source of ignition in the vicinity of the refrigerant gas, make sure it is removed immediately from the area and that the room is then thoroughly ventilated. ∙ Warning: Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in a built-in structure, clear of obstruction. Sufcient ventilation must be ensured at all times. ∙ Warning: Do not damage the cooling circuit. Any escaping refrigerant causes damage to the eyes; there is also a danger of the refrigerant igniting. ∙ Warning: Do not use any external device (e.g. a heater or heating fan) to accelerate de-frosting; follow only the methods recommended in this manual. ∙ Warning: Do not operate any other electrical appliance, such as an ice- maker, inside the cabinet, unless it is specically mentioned in this manual. If there should be any malfunction, please contact the customer service for assistance. ∙ Before the unit is connected to the mains, it must be thoroughly checked for any signs of damage incurred during transport, including damage to the power cord. In the event of any such damage being found, the unit must not be connected to the mains. ∙ When positioning the appliance, ensure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged. ∙ Do not locate portable multiple-socket outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance. ∙ This appliance is not designed for the storage of explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a ammable propellant. ∙ If the unit is sold, handed over to a third party or disposed of at a suitable recycling facility, attention must be drawn to the presence of the insulation agent ‘cyclopenthane’ as well as to the refrigerant R 600 a. For additional information on correct recycling please refer to the section Disposal. ∙ In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, any repairs or modications to this unit must be carried out by our authorised service personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. ∙ This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children aged from 3 to 8 years are allowed to load and unload the appliance. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised. ∙ For frequent cleaning we recommend the use of warm water with some mild detergent. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it. ∙ Caution: do not remove the cover of the interior LED light. If there should be any malfunction, please contact the customer service for assistance. To avoid contamination of food respect the following instructions: ∙ Opening the door for long periods can cause a signicant increase of the temperature in the compartments of the appliance. Always ensure that the door is properly closed and that the seal is not obstructed by wine bottles inside the cabinet or door. ∙ Clean regularly surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems.12 142 x 208 mm ∙ If the appliance is left empty for long periods, turn it off, clean it, and leave the door open to prevent mould from developing within the appliance. ∙ This appliance is designed for storing wine only. ∙ To prevent the risk of personal injury or damage to the unit, it must only be transported while in its original packaging. Two people are required for unpacking and installation. ∙ The rollers on the underside of the appliance are intended for short-distance handling only. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used. ∙ To avoid the risk of re, do not place any electric appliances on top of the unit. Do not place any liquid containers on top of the unit: this will prevent any leaking or escaping liquid damaging the electrical insulation. ∙ Do not cover, modify or remove the pull-out wooden shelves. Always ensure sufcient air circulation within the appliance. ∙ Do not lean or put undue weight on the shelves, door etc. ∙ Never pull out more than one wooden shelf at a time, as this may cause the appliance to tip over. ∙ Protect the inside of the unit at all times from open ames and any other sources of ignition. ∙ Remove the plug from the wall socket - in case of any malfunction, - during cleaning, - before maintenance or repair work is carried out. ∙ When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. ∙ We reserve the right to introduce technical modications. 142 x 208 mm Before using for the rst time ∙ Remove any exterior and interior packaging materials. ∙ Ensure proper disposal of all packaging materials. ∙ Clean the appliance as described in the section Cleaning and care. ∙ The unit should only be transported in its vertical position; do not tilt any more than 30°. ∙ Wait for about 24 hours before connecting the appliance to the power supply and turning it on after it has been positioned. If the appliance remained tilted up to 30° during transport, allow it to stand upright for at least 4 hours before connecting to the power supply. ∙ When the unit is rst switched on, a slight ‘new’ smell may be noticed. However, this will disappear once the cooling process has begun. Attaching the door handle ∙ Open the glass door. ∙ Carefully slide the door seal aside in the two places on the inside of the door where the door handle is to be screwed. ∙ Put the plastic washers (supplied in a separate package) onto the screws. ∙ Attach the supplied handle from the outside. ∙ Tighten the screws rmly by hand to secure the handle. Do not tighten the screws too tightly to avoid damaging the glass and handle. Installation ∙ The appliance should be set up in a well-ventilated, dry room. ∙ The appliance should be operated in conditions where the relative humidity is no more than 60%. ∙ The product specications at the end of this manual contain information on the ambient temperature range suitable for this appliance. ∙ Do not place the appliance outdoors. ∙ Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight or position it near heat sources (radiators, cookers etc.). ∙ The unit must not be installed inside a cabinet, nor directly below a hanging cupboard, shelf or similar object. ∙ Ensure that the door can swing open to an angle of 90°. ∙ In the case of uneven oors, use the adjustable front support feet on the appliance to compensate for the unevenness and ensure optimum stability. ∙ Ensure that you can pull out the power plug at any time. Ventilation ∙ The heated air around the unit must be able to circulate freely. Therefore, ensure that the circulation around and above the unit is not obstructed. ∙ Always maintain a minimum distance of 150 mm from walls, furniture, etc. Control panel Turning the device on/off ∙ Pressing the button for approx. 3 seconds turns the appliance on or off. ∙ It is only switched off completely when the plug is removed from the wall socket. ∙ Following a power interruption, or if the appliance has been unplugged on purpose, it may take 3 to 5 minutes before the compressor kicks in again. Setting the temperature ∙ Use the button to toggle between °Celsius and °Fahrenheit. ∙ Use the and buttons to adjust the temperature between 5 and 20 °C. The selected temperature is saved, and the display shows the current temperature in the cooler compartment. Interior lighting ∙ The button turns the interior lighting on or off. ∙ Caution: do not remove the cover of the interior LED light. If there should be any malfunction, please contact the customer service for assistance.14 142 x 208 mm Storing wine ∙ The following temperatures are suitable for various wines: Red: 15 -18 °C Dry/white: 10 -15 °C Sparkling/champagne: 5 - 9 °C ∙ The appliance can store up to fourteen 750 ml Bordeaux bottles: Top compartment: 5 bottles (max. bottle height 31 cm) Middle compartment: 5 bottles (max. bottle height 31 cm) Bottom compartment: 2 x 2 bottles on top of each other (max. bottle height 35 cm) ∙ When there are no bottles on the wooden shelves, pull them out with little force but carefully. The pull-outs move easily when the wooden shelves are not loaded. Cleaning and care ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket before cleaning. ∙ The cabinet should be cleaned once a month. ∙ During operation, you may notice a build-up of frost around the integral evaporator sealed into the rear of the inside cabinet. This layer of frost will start melting when the compressor is not working. Through a system of hoses, the melt-water drains into the collection tray below the compressor, where it will be absorbed into the surrounding air. Therefore, the appliance requires no defrosting and should only be cleaned. ∙ To enable the melt-water to drain freely, always ensure that the discharge opening on the rear interior wall of the cabinet is free of any blockage. ∙ Any water collecting in the bottom should be removed. ∙ Do not use abrasive tools, materials containing alcohol or harsh cleaning solutions. ∙ Do not use any electrical appliances, such as steam cleaners, for de-frosting or cleaning. ∙ Do not pour water over or inside the unit. ∙ For frequent cleaning we recommend the use of a damp cloth and a little mild detergent. ∙ Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the wooden shelves. ∙ After cleaning, all surfaces must be wiped completely dry. When re-inserting the plug into the wall socket ensure that you have dry hands. Trouble-shooting Certain typical sounds can be heard when the appliance is switched on. These sounds are caused by: ∙ the electric motor within the compressor assembly; during compressor start-up the sound level will be slightly higher for a short time. ∙ the cooling agent owing through the circuit. ∙ In addition, the side of the housing may become warm. This heat is caused by dissipation of the heat generated inside the cabinet. ∙ The following table lists possible malfunctions, their probable causes and solutions. In the event of operational problems, check rst whether a solution can be found using this table. If the problem persists, disconnect the appliance from the mains power and contact our Customer Service Department.15 142 x 208 mm Problem Possible cause and solution The appliance is not working at all. ∙ There is a power failure ∙ The main fuse has blown. ∙ The appliance is not turned on. ∙ The fuse in the wall socket (if applicable) has blown. This can be checked by connecting another electrical device to the socket and checking for function. The temperature inside the compartment is not low enough. ∙ The cabinet has been overloaded. ∙ The doors are not properly closed. ∙ Insufcient ventilation. The appliance is too close to a wall or other obstruction. The normal operating sound changes or becomes louder. Check the following: ∙ Check for proper positioning (uneven oor). ∙ Are any adjacent objects affected by the running of the cooling unit (i.e. causing them to vibrate?) ∙ Are there any objects on top of the unit which might be vibrating? Water is collecting on the bottom of the unit. The melt-water drain system is blocked. Clean the discharge opening. Transporting the appliance ∙ To prevent damage to the unit during transport, ensure that all accessories and components inside and around the appliance are securely fastened. ∙ The unit must only be transported in its vertical position; do not tilt any more than 30°. ∙ Then you can turn it on again after 4 hours. If the appliance has been tilted by more than 30° during transport, wait for about 24 hours before connecting it to the power supply and turning it on after it has been positioned. Disposal
