Frequently Asked Questions - DX1200 Malone

How to connect the amplifier in stereo mode?
Set the mode selector to Stereo. Connect your audio sources to the 6.3 mm jack or RCA inputs. Connect the speakers to the NL4 or screw terminal outputs, respecting polarity (+/-). Each channel is independent.
How to use bridge mode (Bridged)?
Set the mode selector to Bridge. Connect the input signal only to the left channel (input 1). Volume is controlled by the left channel knob. Connect the speaker between the + terminals of both outputs (do not use the - terminals).
Which cable to use for speakers according to distance?
For distances less than 10 m, use cable with cross-section 1.5 mm². Between 10 and 20 m, choose 2.5 mm². Beyond 20 m up to 30 m, opt for 4.0 mm².
What to do in case of ground loop (hum)?
Use the Ground Lift switch located on the rear of the amplifier. It isolates the circuits from the ground to eliminate ground loop noise.
What are the important safety precautions?
Never open the enclosure (risk of electric shock). Avoid humidity, water splashes, and heat sources. Ensure adequate ventilation (minimum 5 mm space around the device). Unplug during thunderstorms or prolonged non-use.
How to clean the amplifier?
Unplug the device before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth. Never use abrasive products, solvents, or liquids. Avoid water penetrating the inside.
Can I repair the device myself?
No, the device contains no user-serviceable parts. Any attempt to open or modify it voids the warranty and presents a risk of electric shock. Contact customer service or a qualified professional.
What is the required power supply voltage?
The amplifier operates on a mains voltage of 220-240 V~ / 50 Hz. Check that the wall outlet matches before connecting the device.
What to do if the fuse blows?
Unplug the device. Replace the fuse with an identical model, located in the fuse holder next to the mains input. If the problem persists, consult a qualified technician.
How to dispose of the device at end of life?
Do not dispose of the device with household waste. Take it to an approved collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Any batteries must be removed and recycled separately.

1 6.3 mm jack inputs: Two 6.3 mm jack sockets for connecting a signal source (mixer, etc.). RCA
2 Inputs: Two RCA input sockets for connecting a signal source (mixer etc.)
3 Mode switch: The amplifier can operate in 2 modes: Stereo and Pressed. Select one of these modes: Stereo mode: Standard left/right stereo mode. Bridge mode: This mode of operation combines both channels on one channel, resulting in doubling the power of that channel. Connect the signal to the left input channel and the output level can now be adjusted with the left volume control.
4 Ground Lift Switch: Disconnects the circuits from the ground in case of problems with ground loops.
5 6.3 mm output: In stereo mode, the load impedance is 4 ohms per channel.
6 NL4output: In stereo mode, the load impedance of each channel is 4 ohms. Pin +1 & +2 = + output, Pin -1 & -2 = - output
7 Screw connections Loudspeaker outputs: 4 Ohm per channel. In bridge mode 8 Ohm.
8 Mains input: First plug the IEC plug into the socket on the appliance and then plug the other end into a power socket
9 Fuse holder: The fuse protects the amplifier and the connecting wires against defects. Replace only with a completely identical fuse.

OUTPUT CONNECTION

The amplifier must be switched off while making the connections. The speakers can be connected via the NL4 sockets or via wires to the screw terminals. In the table below, select the appropriate wire gauge that corresponds to the distance between the amplifier and the speaker.

Distance Strength
< 10 m 1.5 mm ^2
> 10 m < 20 m 2.5 mm ^2
> 20 m < 30 m 4.0 mm ^2

LINE-UP

The amplifier can be set to 2 operating modes:

1. Stereo connection

Set the mode switch (3) to stereo. In this mode, the amplifier has two independent channels, each with its own input and volume controls.

2. Bridge operation

Set the mode switch (3) to 'Bridged'. As already described, the output power is doubled. Connect the audio cable to input 1 and the output signal can now be adjusted with the volume control of channel 1. Connect the speakers to the positive (+) outputs of both outputs and not to the (-) output or ground. The negative outputs must NOT be used in bridge mode.

POWER SUPPLY

Before connecting the amplifier to the power supply, make sure that the voltage of the power supply corresponds to the supply voltage of the amplifier. First connect the IEC end to the appliance and then the power cord.

Important instructions

• Make sure that all cables are connected correctly!
- Check whether the speakers are suitable for this amplifier!
- Never cover the ventilation grids!
- Protect from rain and moisture!
- Do not plug in or unplug speaker cables during operation!
