Frequently Asked Questions - VP12 Vollrath

How to start the VP12 machine?

Press the On/Off button. The display shows version codes. Close the lid to start an automatic cycle. Make sure the oil level is correct before first use.

How to adjust the vacuum percentage?

Press the function selection button until the Vacuum indicator lights up. Use the + and - buttons to set the vacuum from 50% to 99%. The recommended minimum setting is 50%.

How to use VacPlus mode?

First set the vacuum to 99%. Press the function button to select VacPlus. Use the + and - buttons to set the duration (in seconds). A dot next to the number indicates VacPlus mode is active.

What to do if the lid does not open automatically?

Check that the gas spring is not damaged. If the problem persists, contact Vollrath technical support. Do not try to force it open.

How to clean the machine?

Unplug the machine and let it cool down. Use a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth dampened with warm water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Wipe the vacuum chamber, lid, sealing bar, and exterior. Rinse well to remove any soap residue.

When and how to change the pump oil?

The oil must be changed every six months by a qualified technician. Contact Vollrath technical support for the exact procedure. Do not tilt the machine to prevent oil from leaking.

How to replace the Teflon tape and sealing wires?

Unplug the machine. Remove the sealing bar by pulling it upward. Clean it. Cut a new Teflon® tape to the same length. Replace the sealing wires by attaching them to the screws at the ends. Tighten the wires and cut off the excess. Put the bar back in place.

Why are the bags not sealing properly?

Check that the sealing time is appropriate (2.0 to 2.5 s). Make sure the bag is placed correctly, without folds, and the opening is clean. Check the condition of the Teflon tape, bar protection, and lid gasket. Replace worn parts if necessary.

What is the pump lifespan?

The lifespan depends on usage and maintenance. Follow the maintenance schedule: daily conditioning, semi-annual oil change, and regular inspection. Proper maintenance extends the pump's lifespan.

Where to find spare parts for the VP12?

Spare parts are available on the Vollrath.com website. Contact Vollrath technical support to order specific parts such as the lid gasket, Teflon tape, sealing wires, or bar protection.

1. Remove all packing material and tape, as well as any protective plastic from the equipment.
2. Cleananyglueresidueleftbytheplasticortape.
3. Placethevacuumpackmachineonaflat, levelsurface.
4. Check the oil gaugewindow at the back of the machine. Verify the oil level is between the minimum and maximum fill lines.
5. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet that matches the name platerated voltage.

NOTICE: If the machine will be idle for more than one month, the oil should be drained from the pump. Moisture in the oil could corrode the pump.

ThePumpConditioningProgramremovesanymoisturethatmayhave accumulatedinthepump.Duringtheprogram,thepumpandoilreach operatingtemperature,whichevaporatesanymoistureinthepump.

2. The program starts. Moving dots appear on the display.
3. The program runs for approximately 15 minutes. Donot interrupt the program. If the program is interrupted, it must be unagaint to ensure completion.

Thelidgasketensuresthevacuumchamberiscompletelysealed duringthepackingcycle. This is essential to achieve maximum vacuum. Thelidgasket wears dueto the extreme pressure differences and must be replaced regularly.

Lidgasket

1. Cutanewpieceofgasketslightlylongerthantheoldone.Position thenewgasketsothelipfacesdownwardandoutward.
2. Pressthegasketintotheslotevenly.
3. Trimthegasketsotheendscometightlytogethertoprevent leakage. Theendsmustbecutoffstraight. Ifthelidgasketistoo shortortoolong, itcancauseproblemswhenclosingthelidor leakagemayoccur.
