Frequently Asked Questions - CODIX 531 Kübler

How to program the CODIX 531?
Turn off the device, press both front panel buttons simultaneously, then turn it back on. The display shows 'rRnGE' and the first parameter. Use the red/left button to select a digit and the gray/right button to change the value. Hold the red button and press the gray button to confirm and move to the next parameter.
What types of probes can be used?
The CODIX 531 accepts Pt100 resistance thermometers according to DIN IEC 751 and Ni100. The probe type is selected in the programming menu (parameter 5.4.1).
How to display the minimum and maximum values?
In operation, press the right/gray button to cycle through the displays: current value, minimum value, maximum value. Each press shows the function name for 2 seconds, then the corresponding value.
What to do if the display shows 'ooooo' or 'uuuuu'?
'ooooo' means an overrange above the measuring range, and 'uuuuu' means an underrange. Check that the probe is correctly connected and that the measured temperature is within the limits (-199.9°C to +850°C for Pt100). See chapter 7 for error messages.
How to reset the maximum or minimum value?
Make sure the reset function is enabled in the programming (parameters 5.4.6.1 and 5.4.7.1). Then display the max or min value and press the red/left button to reset it. The current value becomes the new max/min value.
What is the required supply voltage?
The device requires a DC voltage of 10 to 30 V DC. Maximum consumption is 40 mA. The power supply is protected against reverse polarity and galvanically isolated from the signal input.
How to connect a Pt100 probe in 2-wire mode?
Use terminals 4, 5, 6 and 7 as shown on the connection diagram. For a 2-wire probe, you must take into account the resistivity of the wires (parameter 5.4.2.1). The CODIX 531 can be programmed for 2, 3 or 4 wires.
What does the Latch input mean?
The Latch input (terminal 3) freezes the display on the instantaneous measured value when a high signal (4-30 V DC) is applied. The min/max recording continues in the background. Useful for capturing a value at a specific moment.
How to clean the device?
Disconnect the power supply before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the front panel. Do not use abrasive products or solvents.
What are the exact dimensions for flush mounting?
The cut-out must be 45+0.6 mm wide by 22.2+0.3 mm high. The mounting depth is approx. 59 mm. The housing fits into a standard panel thickness.

1 Short description

This digital display is an easy-to-use, microprocessor-controlled device for the display (and the acquisition) of measured temperature values. The temperatures are measured by means of Pt100 or Ni100 resistance thermometers. They can display either the current measured value, the maximum value or the minimum value. In case of power switch-off, the maximum and minimum values are stored in an EEPROM. The values are restored as soon as the display is powered again. The Latch input is isolated electrically from the signal input by means of an optocoupler. It allows storing the current measured value.

The supply voltage (10 .. 30 V DC) is isolated electrically from the signal input by means of a DC/DC converter.

2 Safety instructions and warnings

Only use this display

Kübler CODIX 531 - Safety instructions and warnings - 1
