How do I adjust the temperature on my Panasonic CSXE7LKEW air conditioner?

Use the TEMP ▲/▼ buttons on the remote control to set the temperature between 16°C and 30°C. For energy savings, it is recommended to set heating between 20°C and 24°C and cooling between 26°C and 28°C.

What should I do if the remote control does not work?

First check the batteries: insert them correctly, respecting the polarities. If the display is weak, replace with new batteries of the same type. Make sure the receiver on the indoor unit is not obstructed and that you are within 8 meters.

How do I clean the filters of the indoor unit?

Remove the front panel, take out the filters and wash them with clean water (max 40°C) without harsh detergent. Dry them completely in the shade before putting them back. Do not use benzene, thinner, or scouring powder.

What does the flashing of the power indicator mean?

In heating mode, flashing may indicate automatic defrosting (no hot air). If the indicator flashes before start-up, it is preparing for the timer. If the problem persists, contact an authorized dealer.

How do I activate the e-ion function?

Press the PATROL/e-Ion button on the remote control. The blue indicator lights up. The function can operate even when the air conditioner is off. To stop it, press again.

Can I use rechargeable batteries in the remote control?

No, do not use rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cd) as they may damage the remote control. Use only standard alkaline batteries.

Why does the outdoor unit emit steam?

This is normal: condensation or evaporation occurs in the pipes during operation. Do not worry, this is not a malfunction.

How do I program the on/off timer?

Press TIMER ON or TIMER OFF to select, set the time using the ▲/▼ buttons, and confirm with SET. You can program two schedules per day. To cancel, press CANCEL.

What should I do if the unit displays an error code?

Use the remote control: hold down the SET button for 5 seconds to display the code. Note it down, then press SET again to exit. Unplug the unit and contact customer service with the code.

What is the outdoor temperature range for operation?

For cooling: from 5°C to 43°C (dry). For heating: from -15°C to 24°C (dry) depending on the model. Refer to the manual for the exact values of your outdoor unit.

	Do not wash the indoor unit with water, benzene, thinner or scouring powder.
	Do not use for other purpose such as preservation of food.
	Do not use any combustible equipment in front of the airflow outlet to avoid propagate fire.
	Do not expose directly to cold air for a long period.
	Do not sit or step on the unit, you may fall down accidentally.
	Do not touch the sharp aluminium fi n, sharp parts may cause injury.
	Do not switch ON the indoor when waxing the floor. After waxing, aerate the room properly before operating the unit.
	Do not install the unit in oily and smoky areas.
	Ensure drainage pipe is connected properly. Otherwise, leakage may occur.
	Aerate the room regularly.
	After long period of use, make sure the installation rack is not deteriorate to prevent the unit falls down.
REMOTE CONTROL
	Do not use rechargeable (Ni-Cd) batteries. It may damage the remote control.
	Remove the batteries if the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time.
	New batteries of the same type must be inserted following the polarity stated to prevent malfunction of the remote control.

MULTI AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM

DEFINITION

Multi air conditioner systems save space by letting you connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit.

INDOOR UNIT

• It is possible to operate the indoor units individually or simultaneously. The operation mode priority is given to the first unit that turned on.
• During operation, heating and cooling mode could not be activated at the same time for different indoor unit. The power indicator blinks to indicate the indoor unit is standing by for different operation mode.

PATROL/e-ion

operations could be activated even when the air-conditioner is turned off. In this condition, once e-ion indicator is ON, the unit will operate with AUTO fan speed and air swing. However, this operation could not be activated or will be deactivated if other indoor unit is activating heating mode.

- Please be aware of the OFF indication on the remote control display to prevent the unit from starting/stopping improperly.

TO SET TEMPERATURE

• Selection range: 16^ 30^ .
• Operating the unit within the recommended temperature could induce energy saving.
  HEAT mode : 20°C \~ 24°C.
  COOL mode : 26°C \~ 28°C.
  DRY mode: 1°C \~ 2°C lower than room temperature.

• During operation mode selection the power indicator blinks.
• Unit selects operation mode every 10 minutes according to temperature setting and room temperature (For single Split System).
• Unit selects operation mode every 3 hours according to temperature setting, outdoor and room temperature (For Multi split system).

HEAT mode - To enjoy warm air

- Unit takes a while to warm up. The power indicator blinks during this operation.

COOL mode - To enjoy cool air

- Use curtains to screen off sunlight and outdoor heat to reduce power consumption during cool mode.

DRY mode - To dehumidify the environment

- Unit operates at low fan speed to give a gentle cooling operation.

- For AUTO, the indoor fan speed is automatically adjusted according to the operation mode.

AIR SWING

• Keeps the room ventilated.
• In COOL/DRY mode, if AUTO is set, the louver swing left/right and up/down automatically.
• In HEAT mode, if AUTO is set, the horizontal louver fi x at predetermined position. The vertical louver swing left/right after the temperature rises.

TO IMPROVE HUMIDITY AND MOISTURE LEVEL (For Single Split System)

• This operation reduces air dryness and provides you with a comfortable living environment during COOL mode only.
• When vertical airflow direction is set to AUTO, it stops at lower position to avoid cold air contact. However, you can adjust the louver direction manually.

• Can be activated even when the unit is turned off. In this condition, fan speed and air swing can not be adjusted.

• 2 sets of ON and OFF timers are available to turn ON or OFF the unit at different preset time.

• Example of application at living room:

• To cancel ON or OFF timer, press ON or OFF to select respective or then press CANCEL.
• If timer is cancelled manually or due to power failure, you can restore the timer again by pressing ON or TO select respective OR then press SET.
• Upcoming timer will be displayed and will be activated in sequence.
• When ON Timer is set, the unit may start earlier (up to 35 minutes) before the actual set time in order to achieve the desired temperature on time.
• Timer operation is based on the clock set in the remote control and repeats daily once set. For clock setting, please refer to Remote Control Preparation at back cover.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The following symptoms do not indicate malfunction.

SYMPTOM	CAUSE
Mist emerges from indoor unit. ▶• Condensation effect due to cooling process.
Water flowing sound during operation.	▶• Refrigerant flow inside the unit.
The room has a peculiar odour. ▶• This may due to damp smell emitted by the wall, carpet, furniture or clothing.
Indoor fan stops occasionally during automatic fan speed setting.	▶• This helps to remove the surrounding odours.
Airflow continues even after operation has stopped.	▶• Extraction of remaining heat from the indoor unit (maximum 30 seconds).
Operation is delayed a few minutes after restart.	▶• The delay is a protection to the unit's compressor.
Outdoor unit emits water/steam. ▶• Condensation or evaporation occurs on pipes.
Timer indicator is always on. ▶• The timer setting repeats daily once set.
Power indicator blinks during HEAT mode with no warm air supply (and louver is closed).	▶• The unit is in defrost mode (and AIR SWING is set to AUTO).
Indoor fan stops occasionally during heating operation.	▶• To avoid unintended cooling effect.
Power indicator blinks before the unit is switched on.	▶• This is a preliminary step in preparation for the operation when the ON timer has been set.
Cracking sound during operation. ▶• Changes of temperature cause the expansion/contraction of the unit.

Check the following before calling for servicing.

Notes on "ECO PATROL SENSOR"

• Sensor may not detect moving objects further than 7m away or beyond detection angle.
• Sensor sensitivity is influenced by indoor unit location, movement speed, temperature range, etc.
• The sensor may mistakenly detects pets, sunlight, certain lighting, fluttering curtains and light reflection as human being.

The unit stops and the timer indicator blinks.

Use remote control to retrieve error code.

Press until you hear beep sound, then jot down the error code.

Note:

- For certain error, you may restart the unit with limited operation with 4 beeps during operation starts.

4 Turn the unit off and reveal the error code to authorized dealer.

FOR SEASONAL INSPECTION AFTER EXTENDED NON-USE

• Checking of remote control batteries.
• No obstruction at air inlet and air outlet vents.
• Use Auto OFF/ON button to select Cooling/Heating operation, after 15 minutes of operation, it is normal to have the following temperature difference between air inlet and air outlet vents:
  Cooling: ≥ 8°C Heating: ≥ 14°C

FOR EXTENDED NON-USE

• Activate Heat mode for 2\~3 hours as an alternative to remove moisture left in the internal parts thoroughly to prevent mould growth.
• Turn off the power supply.
• Remove the remote control batteries.

NON SERVICEABLE CRITERIAS

TURN OFF POWER SUPPLY then please consult authorized dealer under the following conditions:

• Abnormal noise during operation.
• Water/foreign particles have entered the remote control.
• Water leaks from Indoor unit.
- Circuit breaker switches off frequently.
• Power cord becomes unnaturally warm.
- Switches or buttons are not functioning properly.
