DELIVERY SCOPE ► 1 warning device: GAS ALARM GX-B2pro ► 1 operating instructions ► Mounting materials (screw, wall plug) Operating instructions EN8 ENGLISH Data diagram Sensor Gas type Minimum concentration CO no alarm triggered Methane <5000 ppm (0,5%) Propane (isobutane) <2000 ppm (0,2%) Ethanol (acetone) <5000 ppm (0,5%) It is essential to observe the prescribed sensor mounting height! For your own safety and reassurance, please obtain information from your supplier regarding their gas type and its properties! INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The GAS ALARM GX-B2pro and the sensor may be installed only in dry, interior rooms and must be correctly placed according to the type of gas to ensure faultless operation of the alarm system. APPROPRIATE USE The GAS ALARM GX-B2pro with external sensor is a gas warning device for city, natural and liqueed gases and can already deliver a warning at a gas concentration that lies well below life-threatening values. This monitoring system is, therefore, in line with its purpose, set to a very high sensitivity (see table TECHNICAL DATA). The alarm is signalled acoustically and optically. The unit is suitable for normal household use and may not be used in areas at risk of explosion. Another use of the device as described above is not authorized. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Operating voltage: 230 (+/-10%) V AC / 50-60 Hz Power consumption: approx. 3 W Protection type: IP 20 Acoustic pressure sounder: 90 dB @ 10 cm Type Sensor: catalyitc Operating temperature: 0 °C / +40 °C Storage temperaturer: -20 °C / +70 °C Humidity (ambient): 5–90 % RH (non-condensing) Service life: 5 years Cable length: 2.5 m Cable Ø: 3,5 mm Dimensions (HxWxD): 118x60x44 mm Dimensions Sensor (HxWxD): 52x27x29 mm9 ENGLISH GAS ALARM GAS ALARM Placing of the sensor for city and natural gas (methane CH4): Mount the external sensor at a height of 15-30 cm below the ceiling but no further than 4 m from the gas appliance. Note that the sensor must be moun- ted above the highest door or window opening in the room. City and natural gas (methane) are lighter than air and will therefore always rise. Placing of the sensor for liqueed gas (propane C3H8 / butane C4H10): Mount the external sensor at a height of 15-30 cm above the oor but no further than 4 m from the gas appliance. Escaping liqueed gas is heavier than air and sinks to the oor. It spreads across the oor rat- her like water - but as a gas - and always seeks the lowest point. The sensor may not be used in the following positions:
  • places where the sensor is shielded from escaping gas (e.g. behind curtains or in cupboards)
  • directly above hearths or points of combustion or over a wash basin or sink
  • next to a door, windows, ventilator, fan, air conditioning unit etc.
  • in areas where dust or dirt can prevent the sensor from working
  • in areas at risk of explosion. INSTALLATION The GAS ALARM GX-B2pro is simply plugged into a 230V / 50Hz socket. The LED (Operate) ashes green. The sensor of the monitoring system needs a warm-up time of 3-5 minutes to achieve functionality. The LED (Operate) then lights up green and the GAS ALARM GX- B2pro is ready for operation. TEST button The test button is for checking the LEDs and the acoustic alarm and does not test the sensor itself. Please do not press the test button during the heating up period. During the alarm, the alarm is muted with the TEST button and the LED (alarm) continues to ash red until no gas is detected. FAULT In the event of a fault, the LED (error) ashes yellow, e.g. in the event of a cable break or disconnected sensor. To rectify a fault, you must unplug the device, check the cable and sensor and plug the device in again. The preheating time starts over. If you cannot nd the fault yourself, please contact Elektrotechnik Schabus.10 ENGLISH For your own safety and reassurance, we recommend that you carry out this test every month! Regularly clean the sensor by blowing o󰀨 any dust. ALARM The device only triggers an alarm and the LED (Alarm) ashes red if the sensor has detected an elevated gas concentration for longer than 30 seconds. WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ALARM (or if you smell gas)
  • Do not unplug the alarm unit
  • Do not switch on any other electrical devices or appliances
  • Do not ignite any open ame, turn o󰀨 any open ame already lit
  • Immediately open windows and doors and thoroughly ventilate the area or house
  • Turn o󰀨 the main gas feed and ensure that the cause of the gas escape is eliminated
  • In the event of persistent/repeated alarm, contact your energy supply expert/adviser or the re service. FALSE ALARM The sensitive system sensor also responds to other gaseous media. The use of aerosols (gas propellant in hair, disinfectant, alcohol etc. sprays), as well as strong tobacco fumes (smoking card party) can lead to a false alarm. FUNCTIONAL TEST A simple functional test of the alarm unit can be carried out with butane gas from a cigarette lighter. A burst of gas (approx. 30 seconds), without igniting the lighter, triggers an alarm and the LED (function) ashes red. Disconnect the unit briey from the supply and start the warm-up process again.

Avoid the e󰀨ects of moisture (spray or rain water), dust as well as direct insolation on the device. Clean the device exclusively with a dry linen cloth; in case of heavy dirt accumulation, it may be slightly moistened. Do not use any detergents containing solvents. GENERAL Elektrotechnik Schabus GmbH & Co. KG is not liable for damages and/or losses of any kind such as individual damages or consequential damages brought about by the gas detector not issuing an alarm despite the presence of an elevated gas concentration. The date (month/year) is at the sensor for the next sensor examination. Please send the sensor to Elektrotechnik Schabus for the work examination.11 ENGLISH
