SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
General
Before you start mounting the device please read the operating instructions carefully.
The installation shall be performed by qualified personnel.
Packaging material is not a children's toy. Keep it away from children!
Do not open the device. It does not contain parts you have to maintain.
Ambient conditions
The standards used to assess the product specify limit values for use in the living area, business area and in small enterprises; the product has been intended for use in the following operating environments:
Residential buildings/living areas such as houses, flats, rooms, etc. selling areas such as • shops, wholesale markets, etc.
Premises of small enterprises such as workshops, service centers, etc.
All areas of application characterize themselves by a connection to the public low voltage • mains.
APPROPRIATE USE
The GAS ALARM GX-B3 with external sensor is a gas warning device for town, natural and liquefied gases and can already deliver a warning at a gas concentration that lies well below life-threatening values. This monitoring system is, therefore, in line with its purpose, set to a very high sensitivity (see table TECHNICAL DATA). The alarm is signalled acoustically/optically and the connected gas appliance is turned off at the same time.
The unit is suitable for normal household use and may not be used in areas at risk of explosion.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The GAS ALARM GX-B3 and the sensor may be installed only in dry, interior rooms and must be correctly placed according to the type of gas to ensure faultless operation of the alarm system.

It is essential to observe the prescribed sensor mounting height!
For your own safety and reassurance, please obtain information from your supplier regarding their gas type and its properties!
Placing of the sensor for city and natural gas (methane CH4):
Mount the external sensor at a height of 15-30 cm below the ceiling but no further than 4 m from the gas appliance. Note that the sensor must be mounted above the highest door or window opening in the room.
City and natural gas (methane) are lighter than air and will therefore always rise.

Mount the external sensor at a height of 15-30 cm above the floor but no further than 4 m from the gas appliance. Escaping liquefied gas is heavier than air and sinks to the floor. It spreads across the floor rather like water - but as a gas - and always seeks the lowest point.

natural_image

- places where the sensor is shielded from escaping gas (e.g. behind curtains or in cupboards)
directly above hearths or points of combustion or over a wash basin or sink next to a door, windows, ventilator, fan, air conditioning unit etc. in areas where dust or dirt can prevent the sensor from working in areas at risk of explosion.
START-UP
The GAS ALARM GX-B3 is simply plugged into a 230V/50Hz socket. The LED indicator (Function) will light up yellow. The sensor of the monitoring system requires a warm-up time of 3-5 minutes to become fully operational. The LED indicator (Function) will then light green and the GAS ALARM GX-B3 is operational.
NOTE: various transport conditions (lengthy storage / humidity) can lead to an alarm state being triggered immediately after the warm-up time (LED flashes red). Disconnect the unit briefly from the supply and start the warm-up process again. You may need to repeat this procedure up to three times.
ALARM
If there is an escape of gas, the system gives an alarm once the sensitivity threshold is exceeded. The electronic siren sounds and the LED (Function) flashes red.
WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ALARM (or if you smell gas)
Do not unplug the alarm unit•
Do not switch on any other electrical devices or appliances•
Do not ignite any open flame, turn off any open flame already lit•
Immediately open windows and doors and thoroughly ventilate the area or house•
Turn off the main gas feed and ensure that the cause of the gas escape is eliminated
In the event of persistent/repeated alarm, contact your energy supply expert/adviser or •
the fire service
FALSE ALARM
The sensitive system sensor also responds to other gaseous media. The use of aerosols (gas propellant in hair, disinfectant, alcohol etc. sprays), as well as strong tobacco fumes (smoking card party) can lead to a false alarm.
FUNCTIONAL TEST
A simple functional test of the alarm unit can be carried out with butane gas from a cigarette lighter. A short burst of gas, without igniting the lighter, triggers an alarm and the LED (function) flashes red.

For your own safety and reassurance, we recommend that you carry out this test every month! Regularly clean the sensor by blowing off any dust.
CLEANING AND CARE
Avoid the effects of moisture (spray or rain water), dust as well as direct insolation on the device. Clean the device exclusively with a dry linen cloth; in case of heavy dirt accumulation, it may be slightly moistened. Do not use any detergents containing solvents.
