  • The device is designed to be used for removing light levels of dirt on carpets and upholstered furniture and for freshening up carpets and upholstered furniture. It is not a substitute for a conventional vacuum cleaner. Before using the device, the carpet or upholstered furniture which is to be treated must be thoroughly cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
  • The device is also suitable for use on tiles, stone fl oors and PVC. On no account should the device be used to suck up the following: – glowing ash, cigarette ends, matches, etc. –infl ammable or explosive substances – very fi ne dust (e.g. concrete dust), toner or sand – pointed, hard objects such as pieces of broken glass
  • The device is designed for personal use only and is not intended for commercial ap- plications.
  • The device should only be used as described in the operating instructions. Any other use is deemed to be improper.
  • The warranty does not cover faults caused by incorrect handling, damage, calcifi ca- tion or repair attempts. This also applies to the normal wear and tear of the individual components. Safety Notices ■ This device may be used by children aged 8 and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have received instruction on how to use the device safely and have understood the dangers resulting from failure to comply with the relevant safety precautions. ■ Children must not play with the device. ■ Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children. ■ Children younger than 8 years of age and animals must be kept away from the device and the connecting cable! Improper use can lead to injuries and electric shock. ■ The device must always be disconnected from the mains when it is left unattended and before assembling, disassembling, fi ll- ing or emptying the water containers or cleaning it. ■ Do not make any modifi cations to the device. If the device or the connecting cable of the device are damaged, they must be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service department or a specialist workshop in order to avoid any hazards.EN 14 DANGER – Risk of Electric Shock! ■ Use and store only in closed rooms. ■ Do not use the device in rooms with high humidity. ■ Never immerse the basic unit and connecting cable in water or other liquids. Ensure that the basic unit and the connecting cable cannot fall into water or become wet. ■ Should the device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not at- tempt to pull the device out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power! ■ Never touch the device and the connecting cable with wet hands when these compo- nents are connected to the mains power. WARNING – Danger of Injury! ■ Danger of suffocation! Keep children and animals away from the packaging mate- rial. ■ Danger of strangulation! Make sure that the connecting cable is always kept out of the reach of small children and animals. ■ Danger of tripping! Make sure that the connecting cable does not represent a trip- ping hazard. WARNING – Danger of Fire! ■ Do not use the device in rooms containing easily ignitable substances or poisonous and explosive fumes. ■ Do not use the device in the vicinity of highly fl ammable materials. ■ Do not cover the device during operation in order to prevent it from catching fi re. Do not insert anything into the openings of the device and make sure that these do not become clogged. NOTICE – Risk of Damage to Material and Property ■ Only connect the device to a plug socket with safety contacts that is properly installed and matches the specifi cations on the rating plate of the device. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. ■ In the event of a thunderstorm or damage / faults (e.g. unusual noises, odour or smoke development), switch the device off and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket. Have the device checked by an expert before it is used again. ■ The device should only be used if it is in full working order and has been completely assembled. The fresh water and dirty water containers and both fi lters (exhaust air fi lter and motor protection fi lter) must be inserted. ■ Do not use any sharp or pointed objects to remove foreign bodies from the device. These could damage the device. ■ Use only original spare parts from the manufacturer in order to guarantee that there is no interference that may prevent the device from working and to avoid damage. ■ Never fi ll the water containers beyond the maximum fi ll level.15 EN ■ Make sure that the connecting cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces. Do not wrap the connecting cable around the device (danger of the cable breaking). ■ The device must be switched off when inserting or removing the mains plug. Always pull the mains plug and never the mains cable to disconnect the device from the mains power. ■ Never pull or carry the device by the connecting cable. ■ Protect the device from heat, naked fl ames, direct sunlight, sub-zero temperatures and collisions. The basic unit should also be protected from persistent moisture and wet conditions. ■ Do not place any heavy objects on the device, the connecting cable or accessories. Assembling the Device A cross-head screwdriver is required for assembly.

1. Plug the handle (13) onto the handle pole (12) (Picture A). The handle engages in

the correct position.

2. Screw one of the screws that is supplied with the device into the thread on the back

of the handle and use a cross-head screwdriver to tighten it (Picture B).

3. Insert the fresh water container (5) into the back of the basic unit (Picture C). It must

click into place audibly. The carpet cleaner is now assembled. Preparing the Device Preparing the Carpet

1. Vacuum the carpet or upholstered furniture which is to be cleaned thoroughly with a

vacuum cleaner. To do this, use a brush attachment if possible.

2. Remove all furniture from the carpet if possible. In the case of large items of furniture

which cannot be moved to one side, place plastic fi lm below or around the feet and only remove it once the carpet has completely dried after it has been cleaned. The feet could be damaged by the moisture from the carpet.

3. Check the colourfastness of the carpet or upholstered furniture. Soak a piece

of white fabric with the cleaning solution supplied (see “Filling the Fresh Water Con- tainer”) and rub it carefully on an inconspicuous spot on the carpet. If the white fabric does not become discoloured, the carpet or upholstered furniture can be cleaned with the device. In the case of carpets or upholstered furniture with several colours, test the fastness of each colour.EN 16 Filling the Fresh Water Container PLEASE NOTE! ■ Never operate the device without water. ■ Only ever pour the cleaning agent supplied with the device or standard carpet clean- ing products for carpet cleaners into the fresh water container. ■ Do not use any cleaning products that produce a lot of foam as excessive foaming impedes the functioning of the device.

1. Decide where cleaning will start where you will stop without treading on the section of

carpet that has just been cleaned. We recommend that right-handed people should start at the right-hand edge of the carpet, and left-handed people should start at the left-hand edge of the carpet.

2. Turn the hooks for winding up the cable (3) towards each other (Picture G) and fully

unwind the connecting cable.

3. Clamp the mains cable into the cable mount (2) and plug the mains plug into an easily

accessible plug socket.

4. Press the On / Off switch (6) once to switch on the device.

5. Step on the pedal (7) (Picture H) and tilt the handle backwards into a comfortable

10. If the dirty water container (9) is full up to the MAX marking, it must be emptied (see

the “Cleaning and Storage” chapter).

11. When the dirty water container is to be emptied, the fresh water container topped up

or the cleaning process fi nished, switch off the device by pressing the On / Off switch again.

12. Place the device on the towel or cloth provided and move the handle forwards into an

upright position. It must click into place audibly.

13. Remove the mains plug from the plug socket.

  • Empty both water containers after every use.
  • Allow the freshly cleaned surfaces to dry completely.
  • If possible, do not tread on the carpet while it is still damp. If it has to be trodden on, put down white or colourfast towels and tread on them.
  • If cleaning solution has got onto wooden fl oors or furniture, wipe it away.
  • Vacuum the dry carpet with a vacuum cleaner. To do this, use a brush attachment if possible. Cleaning and Storage PLEASE NOTE! ■ The fi lters must not be cleaned in the washing machine. ■ Only ever dry the fi lters in the air, and never use a hair dryer to do so. ■ Do not use any chemical cleaning agents to clean the device. These may damage the device.

of the reach of children and animals. Troubleshooting If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps below, contact the customer service department. Do not attempt to repair an electrical device yourself!
