Frequently Asked Questions - 09550 Maxxmee

How to use the preset programs?
Select the program corresponding to your food (burger, chicken, sandwich, sausage, meat, fish) using the control panel buttons. The appliance automatically preheats to the ideal temperature. After preheating, open the grill, place the food on the lower plate, close and press Start. The color LED countdown indicates progress.
How to select the doneness level for meat or fish?
After preheating and before starting cooking, use the doneness level selection buttons (16) to choose from: rare, medium-rare, medium or well-done. This function is available only for Meat and Fish modes.
What to do if the appliance stops during cooking?
The appliance has an automatic safety shut-off if it remains open too long. To avoid this, do not leave the grill open unnecessarily. If shutdown occurs, unplug the appliance, let it cool, then plug it back in and restart the cycle.
How to clean the cooking plates?
Let the appliance cool completely, then unplug it. Remove the cooking plates (4 and 9) and the drip tray (6). Wash them in hot water with mild dish soap or in the dishwasher. Never use abrasive products or metal pads. Wipe the appliance body with a damp cloth.
The appliance emits an unpleasant odor, is this normal?
Yes, during first use, a slight odor or smoke may be emitted due to manufacturing residues. This is normal and safe. Heat the appliance empty for a few minutes to remove these residues. If the odor persists after several uses, clean the appliance.
Can I use metal utensils on the plates?
No, to avoid damaging the non-stick coating, use only wooden or heat-resistant plastic utensils. Also avoid knives or sharp objects.
How to insert the cooking plates?
Place a cooking plate slightly at an angle with its notches into the stop slots (3 and 8) of the appliance, then lower it until it clicks audibly (see illustration C). Do the same for the other plate.
The appliance does not turn on, what to do?
Check that the plug is inserted into a working outlet. Try another outlet. Check the mains fuse. If the problem persists, contact after-sales service via the website. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself.
Can I defrost food in the appliance?
Yes, use the Defrost function (button 12). The appliance gradually increases the temperature up to 250 °C to gently defrost. Place the food in the closed grill and start the program.
How to store the appliance after use?
After cleaning and drying completely, close the appliance and secure the plates using the lock (2). Store it in a dry place, protected from frost and out of reach of children and pets.

To do this, follow the instructions in the "Cleaning and Storage", "Setting Up the Device" and "Use" chapters.

The grilling process cannot be paused! If it is ended via the fi eld, it has to be completely restarted.

Preheating

The device automatically preheats fi rst on each mode (apart from manual mode), which is indicated by the fi eld ^SS (20) fl ashing. The device has only reached the desired temperature for the selected mode once you hear 4 short and 1 long beep.

Preset Modes

The device has 6 preset modes (13, 18 and 19) on which the temperature is set automatically.

Maxxmee 09550 - Preset Modes - 1

Degree of Cooking

The degree of cooking that you want in modes (19) and (18) must be chosen after fi nishing the preheating via the select degree of cooking fields (16): rare – medium – well – well done.

Maxxmee 09550 - Degree of Cooking - 1

Please bear in mind: This categorisation relates to a steak that is approx. 4 cm thick (300 g) (Picture D).

TIPS AND TRICKS

- Not all meat or fish is the same.

The fl avour is dependent on lots of different factors – the type, origin, fi shing method, rearing of the animal and so on ... The rule when grilling is therefore: Quality over quantity! As you also can and should enjoy grilled meat and grilled fi sh on its own or with just a few herbs and spices, it is well worth spending a bit more money when you make your choice.

- The grilled result is also dependent on the size and thickness of the meat or fi sh – here you should always have a look from time to time during the grilling process to see whether the chosen settings also perfectly suit this piece of meat or fi sh.

- When you are grilling round food-stuffs, such as sausages, corn on the cob etc., the grilling process usually takes a little longer owing to the small contact surface. We recommend turning the food 90° one or two times so that it is deliciously seared all the way round.

- If you are grilling several times in quick succession, we recommend giving the grill plates a rough clean with a brush in between times to prevent any food from burning into them and also prevent too much smoke being produced.

- You should only season meat or fish after the grilling process so that the herbs or spices do not burn on the grill and thus alter the fl avour.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Please Note!

■ No liquid must get into the device. Never immerse the device in water!

■ The device is not dishwasher-safe.

■ Never spray cold water onto the grill plates during or immediately after use of the device. This could damage the non-stick coating!

■ Do not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning agents or cleaning pads to clean the device. These may damage the surfaces.

Clean the device immediately after every use to prevent the formation of germs. Do not allow any food residues to dry on.

  1. Make sure that the device has completely cooled down and has been disconnected from the mains power!
  2. Remove the grill plates (4 and 9) from the device (see the "Setting Up the Device" chapter).
  3. Pull the fat collecting tray (6) out of the bottom of the housing and empty it.
  4. Clean the grill plates and the fat collecting tray with a little detergent and warm water or in the dishwasher.

Maxxmee 09550 - Please Note! - 1

To ensure a particularly long useful life, we recommend cleaning the grill plates with a sponge and a little detergent.

  1. Wipe down the housing with a damp cloth.
  2. Then dry off the device with a soft cloth.
  3. Close the device and fix the grill plates with the locking catch (2).
  4. Store the device in a dry, clean, frost-free place so that it is out of the reach of children and animals.
