Frequently Asked Questions - ODW 131 F OK

How to put salt in the dishwasher?
Remove the basket, unscrew the cap of the salt compartment. Before the first wash, add 1 liter of water to the compartment, then approximately 1 kg of special dishwasher salt. Screw tightly and immediately start a quick program to avoid any damage.
How to adjust salt consumption?
After turning on the appliance, close the door and hold the ▷ button for 5 seconds to enter setting mode. Press ▷ || to select the level corresponding to your water hardness (see table in the manual). The appliance exits the mode automatically after 5 seconds.
Which detergent to use?
Use only special dishwasher detergent (powder, tablet, or liquid). Follow the dosages indicated on the packaging. Never use regular dish soap, as it would create foam and damage the appliance.
How to clean the filters?
Turn the filter cap counterclockwise and remove the assembly. Separate the filters (main, micro, coarse mesh), wash them under running water, then reassemble in reverse order. Never operate the dishwasher without the filters.
What to do if the dishwasher does not turn on?
First check that the plug is properly connected and the socket is powered. Make sure the door is correctly closed. Also check that the water supply tap is open and the water pressure is sufficient.
What to do if water does not drain?
Check that the drain hose is not bent or blocked. Clean the main filter (coarse mesh). Make sure the kitchen sink is not clogged. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
How to interpret error codes?
The codes are indicated by flashing lights. For example: 'water' light flashes = water supply problem; 'overflow' light flashes = leak. In case of an error code, contact customer service (number on the warranty card).
How to load dishes for better cleaning?
Place plates and bowls face down, tilt hollow items to allow water drainage. Arrange utensils in the basket with points down. Do not overload the dishwasher and ensure the spray arms can rotate freely.
Can I use all-in-one tablets?
Yes, combination tablets (detergent + salt + rinse aid) are compatible. Place the tablet in the main compartment. Remember to adjust the water hardness and rinse aid dosage if necessary for optimal results.
What to do if dishes do not dry?
Check the rinse aid level (compartment and indicator). Use the Eco program or a program with drying. Wait a few minutes after the cycle ends before opening the door to let steam escape. Do not unload dishes too soon.

PREPARATION

5 Filling salt into the salt container

Depending on your tap water hardness (hardness degree) use additional salt (water softener). Always consider the instruction provided with the salt.

  1. Remove the basket and then unscrew and remove the cap from the salt container.
  2. Before first usage, pour 1 lt. of water in the salt container of your machine.
  3. Place the end of the funnel (supplied) into the hole and fill in about 1 kg of salt. It is normal for a small amount of water to come out of the salt container.

  4. After filling the container, screw the cap tightly back on in a clockwise direction.

  5. Immediately after filling the salt into the salt container, a washing program must be started (rapid program suggested). Otherwise the filter system, pump or other important components of the machine may be damaged by the salt, which voids the warranty.

Note: Usually, the salt warning light S will be cease to be illuminated within 2-6 days after the salt container has been filled with salt. Depending on how fully the salt dissolves, the salt warning light may still be on even though the salt container is filled.

Warning!

  • Only use salt specifically designed for use in dishwashers! All other types of salt not specifically designed for use in a dishwashers, especially table salt, will damage the water softener. In case of damages caused by the use of unsuitable salt the manufacturer does not give any warranty and is not liable for any caused damages.
  • If salt has been spilled, a soak or a rapid program must be run to remove the excess salt.
  • Only fill in salt just before starting one of the complete washing programs. This will prevent any grains of salt or salty water, which may have been spilt, remaining of the bottom of the machine for any period of time, which may cause corrosion.
  • The salt container must only be refilled when the salt warning light in the control panel comes on.

CLEANING AND CARE

  • Warning! When cleaning, never use solvents or abrasive materials, hard brushes, metallic or sharp objects. Solvents are harmful to human health and can attack plastic parts, while abrasive cleaning mechanisms and tools may scratch the surface(s).
  • Clean the exterior surfaces of the product with a slightly damp cloth and dry them well. Make sure that no water enters the product interior (e.g. at the buttons).
  • Clean the edge around the door using a soft, warm and damp cloth only. To avoid penetration of water into the door lock and electrical components, do not use a spray cleaner of any kind.

Cleaning the filter assembly

The filter prevents larger remnants of food or other objects from entering the pump. Inspect the filters for blockage every time the dishwasher has been used.

12 The filter system consists of a coarse filter, a flat (main filter) and a micro filter (fine filter).

  • Main filter A: Food and soil particles trapped by this filter are pulverized by a special jet on the spray arm and washed down the drain.
  • Fine filter B: This filter holds food residue in the sump area and prevents it from being deposited on the dishes during the wash cycle.
  • Coarse filter C: Larger items, such as pieces of bones or glass that could block the drain are trapped in the coarse filter. To remove the items caught by the filter, gently squeeze the tap on the top of this filter and lift out.

13 Disassemble and clean the filter according to following steps:

  • Turn the filter cap (filter C) anticlockwise and take out the whole filter assembly.
    • Take out filters B and C.
    • Take out filter C.
  • Wash the filters under running water and remove all residues and foreign objects.
  • Reassembling is done in reverse order. Make sure the filter assembly is installed correctly.
Note: Never use the dishwasher when the filter system not installed.

Cleaning the spray arms

14 The spray arms can be easily removed for periodic cleaning of the nozzles, to prevent possible clogging. It is recommended to clean them every two month.

  • Grasp the middle of the spray arm, pull it upwards to remove it.
  • Wash the arms under a jet of running water
  • Return them carefully to their seat and make sure that the spray arms are installed correctly and can rotate freely.

Descaling

Descaling is not necessary if the detergent is dosed correctly. If you want to descale the dishwasher, proceed according to the descaling agent manufacturer's instructions. You can obtain suitable descaling agents from retailers.

Notes concerning the energy- and water consumption of the dishwasher

  • The eco program is suitable for cleaning normally soiled dishes. It is the most efficient program for this purpose in terms of combined energy and water consumption and is used to assess compliance with the EU ecodesign legislation.
  • By loading the domestic dishwasher up to the capacity specified by the manufacturer, energy and water can be saved. Arrange the dishes correctly as described in the loading plans in these instructions. Improper loading causes inefficient dish-washing and possibly malfunctions.
  • Manual pre-washing of the dishes leads to higher water and energy consumption and is not recommended.
  • Washing dishes in a household dishwasher generally uses less energy and water than washing by hand, provided the household dishwasher is used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Values for the program duration as well as the energy and water consumption of all programs that include an operating cycle can be found in the corresponding tables in these instructions.
  • Observe the information on proper installation (including horizontal alignment, connection to the power supply, water connections) in these instructions.
  • Use of cleaning agents, salt and other additives must be carried out properly. Incorrect dosage leads to increased environmental pollution and possibly damage to the device.
  • Before each use, remove all foreign objects from the household dishwasher.
  • Regular cleaning and compliance with the optimal cleaning intervals and measures to prevent limescale deposits, are important. Please refer to the chapter on Cleaning and care.
  • Regular control of the filters and the optimal cleaning intervals are important. Please refer to the chapter on Cleaning and care.
