Frequently Asked Questions - ZIMOS125 Zipper

What type of fuel to use for the ZIMOS125?
Use a petrol-oil mixture in a ratio of 40:1. Prefer a high-quality synthetic 2-stroke oil. The mixture should be prepared in the supplied container and used within 4 weeks.
How to start the engine when cold?
Set the choke to ON (closed choke). Turn the switch to START. Press the throttle trigger lock and hold the throttle open. Pull the starter cord firmly. Once the engine starts, return the choke to OFF.
How to clean the air filter?
Unscrew the air filter cover, remove the filter. Wash it under running water, drain and let dry. Add a few drops of engine oil to the filter before reinstalling. The filter must be cleaned every 25 hours of use.
What is the procedure to safely stop the machine?
Place the machine on an already cut area. Set the throttle lever to idle. Then, move the switch to STOP. Wait for the rotation to completely stop.
How to store the machine for more than 30 days?
Drain the fuel and oil. Remove the spark plug, pour a few drops of engine oil into the cylinder and pull the cord slowly to distribute the oil. Clean the spark plug and reinstall it. Cover the machine and store it in a dry, ventilated, frost-free place.
What to do if the engine does not start?
Check that the switch is ON, the fuel and oil levels (a low oil sensor may block starting). Make sure the spark plug wire is connected. Check the spark plug and filters (carburetor, air).
Can I use a metal blade instead of nylon line?
The manual prohibits the use of metal cutting elements or unauthorized tools. However, the machine is supplied with a 3-tooth blade. Only use Zipper-recommended accessories.
What safety distances must be maintained?
Other people must stay at least 15 meters away from the cutting head. Wear personal protective equipment (goggles, gloves, ear protection, safety shoes).
How to adjust the handle height and head orientation?
For height: loosen the 4 hex screws on the green coupling of the frame, adjust the shaft, then retighten. For orientation: pull the locking pin upward, turn the head in the desired direction until the pin engages.
What is the spark plug maintenance procedure?
Remove the spark plug cap, unscrew the spark plug carefully. Clean it with a wire brush. Check the electrode gap: it should be approximately 0.7 to 0.8 mm. Reinstall the spark plug. Perform this check every 20-30 hours.

17 MAINTENANCE

Zipper ZIMOS125 - MAINTENANCE - 1

17.1 Maintenance and Servicing plan

17.1.1 Table of Measures

What to do?Frequency
Check fuel levelbefore each start-up
Check for damaged partsbefore each start-up
Checking for loose or lost screwsbefore each start-up
Air filter cleaningevery 25 h, replacement after 1 year
Spark plug cleaningevery 25 h; replacement after 1 year

The specified intervals refer to working under "normal" operating conditions. Depending on the load, a change/exchange may also be necessary at an earlier point in time.

17.2 Cleaning

Clean the machine and the mowing attachment from soil, dust, grass, etc.

Clean the machine housing with a wet cloth and a mild cleaning solution.

Put on all coatless surfaces a thin coat of oil.

NOTICE

Zipper ZIMOS125 - NOTICE - 1

The use of paint thinners, petrol, aggressive chemicals or abrasives leads to material damage to the surfaces! Therefore use only mild detergents for cleaning!

17.3 Refuelling

The machine is run by a gasoline-oil mixture. You need for the 2-Stroke engine a fuel mixture of 40:1 (gasoline : oil).

ZIPPER MASCHINEN strongly recommends the usage of HQ premixed fuels especially recommended for 2-stroke motors. Many of them keep their consistency even after long periods of storage. This eliminates the danger of engine dam-age if forgetting to shake up the gasoline-oil mixture.

If you prefer to mix your own fuel please use HQ Synthetic Oil for 2-stroke engines.

Synthetic oil reduces accumulation of soot on the spark plug, cylinder, engine cock and exhaust pipe. This increases the degree of lubrication and prolongs the engines lifespan.

Use self-mixed fuel up within 4 weeks.

Ensure yourself that no particles get into the fuel tank when refuelling. Use a filter

NOTICE

Zipper ZIMOS125 - NOTICE - 1

Shake fuel tank prior to every usage! During storage oil descents slowly in the fuel tank. If you start the engine under this condition, it has barely any lubrication which would lead to severe engine damage. GUARANTEE EXCLUSION!

17.4 Cleaning the air filter

A contaminated air filter can contribute to problems starting the machine, loss of performance during operation and shorten engine life.

Zipper Machines does not accept any liability for engine damage caused by failure to clean the air filter regularly.

Unscrew the screw fixing the cover of the air fil-ter (Fig. L). Remove the air filter cover (Fig. M), take out the air filter (Fig. N) and clean the air filter (Fig. O) with water. Wring it out strongly. Let it dry. Drip some drops of oil onto the filter and squeeze the filter to disperse the oil evenly in it. Mount the filter back and fix the cover again.

17.5 Cleaning the spark plug

  1. Pull out the spark plug cap and remove impurities from the outside of the spark plug.
  2. Unscrew the spark plug using the spark plug wrench.
  3. Check the ceramic insulation, clean the electrodes (metal tips) and check the distance between the contacts. It should be 0.7 to 0.8mm .
  4. Reinstall the cleaned (or replaced) spark plug and replace the spark plug cap.

18 STORAGE

If the machine is not used for a longer period of time (>30 days):

  1. Empty the oil tanks or fuel tank.
  2. Remove the spark plug and pour a few drops of engine oil into the cylinder. Using a rope starter, turn the engine a few times so that the oil is well distributed inside the cylinder. Clean the spark plug and replace it.
  3. Cover the cooled machine and store it out of the reach of children and unauthorised persons in a well-ventilated, dry and frost-free environment.
