KE 2102 kitchen scale Safety This product may be used by children aged 8 and above, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the product and understand the risks that may arise. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are 8years of age or older and are being supervised. Batteries can be life-threatening. Therefore, keep batteries out of reach of small children. If the battery has been swallowed or has ended up in the body in any other way, seek medical help immediately. Failure to do so within 2 hours may result in severe internal burns that could cause death. DANGER for children Keep packaging material away from children. There is a risk of choking if swallowed. Also pay attention that children do not pull the packaging material over their heads. RISK of fire/burning and/or explosion There is a risk of explosion if the batteries are replaced improperly. Replace the battery only with the same or a similar type. Pay attention to the “Technical data”. Batteries must not be recharged, reactivated by other means, dismantled, thrown into re, or short-circuited. Otherwise, there is an increased risk of explosion and leakage; furthermore, gases may escape! Avoid contact of the battery uid with skin, eyes, and mucosa. In case of contact, immediately rinse the aected areas with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. BEWARE of material damage Place the scale on a stable, even surface. Do not overload the scale. Pay attention to the “Technical data”. Place objects on the scale exclusively for the purpose of weighing. Protect the scale from strong shocks and vibrations. Remove the battery from the scale when it is depleted or when you are no longer using the scale. You will thus avoid damage that may result from leakage of battery acid. When inserting and changing the battery, pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). Do not expose the battery to any extreme conditions, for example, by storing it on radiators or under direct sunlight. Increased risk of leakage!Intended use

KE 2102 kitchen scale Clean the battery and device contacts, as needed, before inserting the battery. Do not make any modications to the product. Only allow repairs to be carried out by a specialist workshop. Repairs carried out improperly can considerably endanger the user. Do not place the scale in the vicinity of devices that emit electromagnetic radiation such as mobile phones, radio equipment, etc. This may result in incorrect display indications or malfunctions. Do not place any objects on the scale if you are, for example, storing it in a cupboard. The sensitive measuring electronics in the scale could be damaged by heavy objects. There are feet on the underside of the scale. Since surfaces are made from various materials and are treated with diverse care products, it cannot be completely excluded that some of these substances contain ingredients that attack and soften the feet of the device. If necessary, place a non-slip pad under the scale. Take care when carrying: The scale is merely inserted into the chopping board and has no carrying lock or any similar mechanism. Pick up the chopping board in such a way as to ensure the inserted scale cannot slip out. Otherwise it could be damaged or broken if dropped. Due to its design, the chopping board does not lie fully at on surfaces. Avoid using too much force, for example, when cutting very hard or tough food. Intended use The scale is designed for weighing food and objects at home in the quantities that are usual in that context. The maximum load capacity of 5kg must not be exceeded. KE 2102 kitchen scale Start-up Removing iso-strips The battery is already inserted upon delivery and fitted with an iso-strip to prevent it from discharging ahead of time. In order to start up the scale, you must remove the iso- strip. The battery compartment is located on the underside of the device.

1. Open the battery compartment by pushing the locking tab towards the battery

compartment cover and then remove this cover.

2. Pull out the iso-strip.

3. Replace the battery compartment cover.

The locking tab must snap audibly into place. Inserting/changing the battery For use, you need a 3 V CR2032 battery.

1. Open the battery compartment by pushing the locking tab towards the battery

compartment cover and then remove this cover.

2. Remove the old battery.

3. Push the battery against the spring contacts under the square retaining tabs and

then press it in. The battery should fit into the opposite retaining tabs so that it is firmly secured inside the compartment. Pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). The plus pole (+) must point upwards.

4. Replace the battery compartment cover.

The locking tab must snap audibly into place. The batteries need to be changed when “Lo” or nothing is shown on the display. Only use the type of battery that is specied in the “Technical data”. Dispose of old batteries in an environmentally appropriate way (see “Disposal”). Operation NOTE on material damage − Only cut on the chopping board, not on the scale’s weighing surface. This could damage the sensitive electronics as well as its surface. The scale must be fully pulled out of the chopping board for use. EnglishOperation

1. Place the scale on an even, firm and dry surface.

Carefully position the scale in order to avoid hard shocks to the sensors/feet and therefore any damage.

2. Press ON/ZERO to turn on the scale.

Wait until “0” appears on the display.

3. Select the desired measurement unit by tapping UNIT.

You can choose between “g” (grammes) or “oz” (ounces). Pay attention to the indication on the display.

4. If you want to weigh an item or substance in a container, now place the container

without anything in it onto the weighing surface. Otherwise, proceed as described in Section 6.

5. Press ON/ZERO. “0” will be displayed.

6. Put the item or substance to be weighed into the container or place it onto the

weighing surface. The measured weight is shown on the display.

7. Read off the measured weight and remove the item or substance from the

container or the weighing surface. Resetting the scale to zero If the display is still showing a minus value (symbol ), although there is nothing on the weighing surface (for example, if the scale is not positioned properly or a TARE value is still displayed; see next section), you must reset the scale to zero. − Press ON/ZERO. Using the tare function (TARE) This function is practical when baking, for example, if you would like to add another ingredient to the ingredients already on the scale.

1. Press ON/ZERO to set the scale back to “0”.

If the weight on the weighing surface is 250 g or more, “TARE” is displayed (tare function). Below 250 g, the “zero function” is activated and the scale is simply reset to zero.

2. Add the new item or substance.

The display shows the added item weight. “TARE” is only displayed if 250 g or more is added at once. If the total weight exceeds 250 g after being weighed twice, “TARE” does not appear on the display. Example: There is 100 g on the weighing surface. Press ON/ ZERO and add 160 g: “TARE” will not appear on the display.

3. Repeat the process whenever you would like to add more ingredients. The process

can be repeated as often as needed until the capacity limit (5 kg) is reached.Resetting the scale

Resetting the scale Reset the scale to its default settings if unusual or obviously incorrect values are shown on the display.

1. Remove the battery from the battery compartment and wait a moment.

2. Re-insert the battery.

Pay attention to the correct polarity of the battery (+/-). The plus pole (+) must point upwards. After switching on the scale, you can start weighing as usual. Cleaning NOTE on material damage − Do not immerse the scale or chopping board in water or other liquids. − Never use hard, scratchy or abrasive cloths or detergents to clean the scale or the chopping board. Otherwise, the surface could be scratched. The scale should be cleaned immediately after use, especially after its contact with fat, spices, vinegar, and other strongly flavoured and/or coloured foodstuffs. − Wipe the scale as needed with a slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid contact with citric acid. − You should also clean the chopping board with a slightly damp soft cloth. − Make sure you let the chopping board dry fully after cleaning.
