Digital Kitchen Scale KE 1733 Intended use The scale is designed for weighing food and objects at home in the quantities that are usual in that context. The maximum load capacity of 10 kg must not be exceeded. The scale is unsuitable for commercial use, e.g. in bakeries, restaurants, etc. Safety This product may be used by children aged 8 and above, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the product and understand the risks that may arise. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are being supervised. Batteries, when swallowed, can be life-threatening. You should therefore keep the batteries and scale out of reach of small children. If a battery has been swallowed, medical assistance must be sought immediately. DANGER for children Keep packaging material away from children. There is a risk of choking if swallowed. Also pay attention that children do not pull the packaging material over their heads. RISK of fire/burning and/or explosion There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced improperly. Replace the battery using only the same or an equivalent type of battery. Observe the “Technical data”. Batteries must not be recharged, reactivated by other means, dismantled, thrown into re, or short-circuited. Otherwise, there is an increased risk of explosion and leakage; furthermore, gases may escape. Avoid contact of the battery uid with skin, eyes, and mucosa. In case of contact, immediately rinse the aected areas with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor.Safety
Digital Kitchen Scale KE 1733 English WARNING of risk of injury If the scale falls and shatters, there is a risk of injury from glass splinters. BEWARE of material damage Do not immerse the scale in water or other liquids. Place the scale on a stable, even surface. Do not overload the scale. Observe the “Technical data”. Place objects on the scale exclusively for the purpose of weighing. Protect the scale from strong shocks and vibrations. Remove the battery from the scale when it is depleted or when you are no longer using the scale. You will thus avoid damage that may result from leakage of battery acid. When inserting and changing batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). Do not expose the battery to any extreme conditions, for example, by storing it on radiators or under direct sunlight. Increased risk of leakage! Clean the battery and device contacts, as needed, before inserting the battery. Do not make any modications to the product. Only allow repairs to be carried out by a specialist workshop. Repairs carried out improperly can considerably endanger the user. Do not place the scale in the vicinity of devices that emit electromagnetic radiation such as mobile phones, radio equipment, etc. This may result in incorrect display indications or malfunctions. Do not place any objects on the scale if you are, for example, storing it in a cupboard. The sensitive measuring electronics in the scale could be damaged by heavy objects. There are feet on the underside of the scale. Since surfaces are made from various materials and are treated with diverse care products, it cannot be completely excluded that some of these substances contain ingredients that attack and soften the feet of the device. 2Inserting/changing batteries
Digital Kitchen Scale KE 1733 English Inserting/changing batteries For use, you need 2 batteries of type LR03 (AAA), 1.5 V (included). The battery compartment is located on the underside of the device.
1. Press the locking tab slightly towards the centre of the scale and remove the battery
2. Insert the batteries as indicated at the bottom of the battery compartment. Pay
attention to the correct polarity (+/-).
3. Replace the battery compartment cover. The locking tab must snap securely into
place. Notes on changing the battery: Battery change is necessary if the display shows either a battery symbol, “Lo” or nothing at all. Only use the type of battery that is specied in the “Technical data”. Always change all batteries at the same time. Dispose of old batteries in an environmentally appropriate way (see “Disposal”). Operation Weighing
1. Place the scale on an even, firm, and dry surface. Carefully position the scale in order
to avoid hard shocks to the sensors/feet and therefore any damage.
2. Press OFF/TARE to switch on the scale.
3. Choose the desired unit of measurement by repeatedly tapping UNIT. You can
choose between “g” (gramme), “lboz” (pound), “oz” (ounce) and “ml” (millilitre). Pay attention to the indication on the display. Choose “ml” if you would like to weigh liquids.
4. If you want to weigh an item or substance in a container, now place the container
without anything in it onto the weighing surface. Otherwise, proceed as described in Section 6.
The display will show “0 g”, “0:00 lboz”, “0.00 oz” or “0 ml” and “TARE” depending on the selected unit of measurement.
6. Put the item or substance to be weighed into the container or place it onto the
weighing surface. The measured weight is shown on the display.Resetting the scale
7. Read off the measured weight and remove the item or substance from the
container or the weighing surface. Resetting the scale to zero If the display still shows values even though the weighing surface is empty (e.g. if the scale is not optimally positioned or a TARE value is still displayed; see next section), you must reset the scale to zero. − Briey press OFF/TARE once. Adding items or substances (TARE) This function is practical, for example, when baking, if you would like to add another ingredient to the ingredients already on the scale.
1. Press OFF/TARE to reset the scale to “0”. “TARE” is shown on the display.
2. Add the new item or substance. The weight of the added item or substance is
shown on the display.
3. Repeat the process whenever you would like to add more ingredients. The process
can be repeated as often as needed until the capacity limit (10 kg) is reached. Switching off the scale − Press and hold down OFF/TARE until the indication on the display goes out. The scale will turn off automatically if it is not used for approx. 60 seconds. Resetting the scale Reset the scale to its default settings if unusual or obviously incorrect values are shown on the display.
1. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment and wait a moment.
2. Reinsert the batteries.
Pay attention to the correct polarity of the batteries (+/-). After switching on the scale, you can start weighing as usual.Cleaning
Digital Kitchen Scale KE 1733 English Cleaning NOTE on material damage − Do not immerse the scale in water or other liquids. − Do not under any circumstances use harsh, scouring or abrasive cleaning agents or the like to clean the scale. Otherwise, the surface could be scratched. The scale should be cleaned immediately after use, especially after its contact with fat, spices, vinegar, and other strongly flavoured and/or coloured foodstuffs. − Wipe the scale as needed with a slightly damp soft cloth. Avoid contact with citric acid. Fault/Remedy Fault Possible cause No function. Is the battery empty or inserted the wrong way around? The scale appears to be displaying wrong weighing results Is the scale located on a rm, even surface? Is a device that can cause electromagnetic disturbances located in the vicinity of the scale? Remove the batteries from the scale and wait a moment. Reinsert the batteries. “EEEE” is shown on the display. The maximum capacity of the scale (10 kg) has been exceeded. The display shows a battery symbolor “Lo”. The batteries are empty (see “Inserting/ changing batteries”). “unSt” is shown on the display. The scale is not stable.
