Intended use

The item is intended for private household use and the quantities usually handled in that setting.

The device is not recommended for commercial or household-like use in staff kitchens at shops, offices and other commercial areas, in agricultural estates, by customers in hotels, motels or other residential facilities, or in bed and breakfasts.

Only grind coffee beans with the mill. The article may not be used as a spice mill.

Safety

• This product may be used by children aged 8 and above, as well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities or lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the product and understand the risks that may arise.

Children must not play with the product.

• Keep packaging material away from children. There is a risk of choking if swallowed. Also pay attention that children do not pull the packaging material over their heads.

BEWARE of material damage

• Only use the mill after coffee has been added for grinding. Otherwise the grinding gears may be damaged.

• Do not make any changes to the mill. Have repairs carried out only by a specialist workshop and observe the warranty conditions. Improper repairs can damage the mill.

• Do not clean the mill with hard, rough or abrasive cleaning agents. Otherwise, the surface could be scratched.

Before first use

Check coffee mill and scope of delivery

1. Remove the coffee mill from the packaging and check if the article is damaged. If it is damaged, do not use the coffee mill. Contact the store where you purchased the mill.
2. Check whether the delivery is complete; see the "Scope of delivery" section for this.

Basic cleaning

1. Remove the packaging material and all protective foils.
2. Clean all parts as described in the "Cleaning" section before the first use.

Use

Filling the mill

1. Remove the crank and lid from the mill.

1. Place the coffee beans in the bean container.

A fully filled bean container is sufficient for approx. 8 cups of coffee when the beans are ground.

1. Put the lid back on and put the crank on the shaft.

Grinding the coffee

1. Place the coffee mill on a solid surface.

2. Hold the coffee mill firmly with one hand. The rubber foot of the aroma container ensures greater stability on the surface.

3. Turn the crank clockwise with your free hand to grind the coffee beans.

-Crank evenly at a steady pace.

-If the crank jams, turn it counter-clockwise a little and then continue to crank evenly in a clockwise direction.

-If the crank is still jammed, the grinding gears may be clogged. Shake the mill a little or tap it lightly on a solid surface to clear the grinding gears.

1. Turn the aroma container clockwise and remove the freshly ground coffee.

Setting the coarseness

1. Turn the mill upside down and turn the crank a little to free the grinding gears. Hold the crank firmly while doing this; otherwise, it will fall.

1. Turn the setting knob in the middle of the grinding gears in the corresponding direction.

Fine grind

-Turn counter-clockwise

Coarse grind

-Turn clockwise

Grinding is somewhat easier with a coarse grind.

WARNING - damage to property

• The bean container must not be immersed in water or other liquids because of the grinding gears.

• Wipe the bean container clean with a soft, slightly moistened cloth.

• Clean the grinding gears with a brush, for example.
• The crank, lid and aroma container can be cleaned with mild dishwashing water. Dry thoroughly afterwards.

The rubber foot can be removed from the aroma container for cleaning.

Storing

If the mill will not be used for a long period of time:

1. Remove the coffee beans from the bean container and clean it.
2. Store the mill in a dry, frost-free location.

Disposing of the product

Dispose of the product in accordance with the regulations that apply in your country.

Disposing of the packaging

Dispose of the packaging with similar materials.
Dispose of cardboard with waste paper and of films with recyclable materials.

Disposing of the coffee mill

• Dispose of the mill in accordance with the regulations applicable in your country.

Warranty

Dear Valued Customer, Waagen-Schmitt GmbH warrants for 2 years from the purchase date the cost-free rectification of defects in material and workmanship through repair or exchange.
