Frequently Asked Questions - FP 18 LTX METABO

What types of glue sticks should be used?

Use hot melt glue sticks with a diameter of 11 mm. Standard EVA or polyamide glue sticks are suitable.

How long does it take for the gun to heat up?

Heating time is approximately 60 seconds. The LED indicator lights up when the working temperature is reached.

Can I use the gun continuously?

Yes, but for prolonged use, take breaks to avoid overheating. The thermal protection automatically shuts off the device if the temperature becomes excessive.

How to clean the nozzle?

After use, let it cool then remove glue residues with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or metal objects to avoid damaging the nozzle.

Can the gun be operated on mains power?

No, the FP 18 LTX is a cordless model powered by Metabo 18 V CAS battery. No mains version is available.

What is the battery life with a 4 Ah battery?

With a Li-Ion 18 V / 4 Ah battery, you can glue continuously for approximately 45 minutes (depending on usage frequency).

Can I use batteries from other brands?

The gun is only compatible with Metabo and CAS (Cordless Alliance System) batteries. Using non-compliant batteries may damage the device.

What to do if glue does not flow?

Check that the nozzle is not clogged. If so, clean it after cooling. Also ensure the battery is sufficiently charged and the gun has reached operating temperature.

Does the gun have a rest stand?

Yes, the gun has an integrated rest stand that allows it to be safely placed on a flat surface during breaks.

Where to find spare parts?

2. Specified Conditions of Use

Chargers are only suitable for charging original Metabo and CAS (Cordless Alliance System) battery packs.

This device is not designed for use by persons (including children) with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, or with insufficient experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety, or have received instructions on how to use the device by this person.

ASC 290 is suitable for charging Li-iron battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells). The device is suitable for charging electronic devices with a USB-C interface (like smartphones, MP3 players, tablets, etc.) - no data exchange

ASC 145 is suitable for charging Li-lon battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging Li-ion battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging NiCd battery packs (12 V, 1.7 Ah, 10 cells).

SC 36, SC 30 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 18 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

Never attempt to charge batteries that are not rechargeable. Danger of explosion!

The user bears sole responsibility for any damage caused by inappropriate use.

Generally accepted accident-prevention regulations and accompanying safety instructions should be observed.

3. General Safety Information

4. Special Safety Instructions

For your own protection and for the protection of your power tool, pay attention to its text of the text that are marked in this symbol!

Danger - electrical voltage!

A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-ion battery packs!

If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical attention immediately! Do not recharge a fully charged battery pack!

Only for use in indoor rooms.

6. Initial Operation

Before commissioning, check that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency stated on the type plate match your power supply.

Devices like these that generate direct current can influence simple earth leakage protection devices.

Use a type F or better, with a release current of max. 30mA

Before commissioning the charger, ensure that the air slots are free. Minimum distance to other objects is 5cm

6.1 Self-test

Plug in.

The warning display (4) and the operating indicator (3) light up one after the other for approx. 1 second and the installed fan runs for approx. 5 seconds.

7. Use

7.1 Charging battery pack

Push the battery pack completely to the stop on the sliding seat (2).

The operating indicator (3) flashes.

Note: To have the charge level displayed on Li-ion battery packs, first take the battery pack out of the charger and then press the button on the battery pack.

7.2 Conservation charge

Once the charging process has finished, the battery charger automatically switches to conservation mode.

The battery pack can remain in the battery charger and is therefore always ready for use.

The operating display (3) lights up continuously.

7.3 ASC 290 only: Charge USB device

Only connect USB devices which are compatible with the USB standard. Using

incompatible devices can lead to malfunctions, damage or injuries.

Open the cover (6) and plug a USB device with a suitable cable into the USB-C port (7). The device is charged.

The USB-C port (7) is only supplied with voltage (LED indicator (8) illuminated) if no battery pack is charged.

If a battery pack and USB device are connected at the same time, the USB charging process will start automatically after the end of the battery pack charging process.

8. Faults

8.1 Warning display (4) lights up continuously

Battery pack is not charged. Excessive/insufficient temperature. When the temperature of the battery

pack is between 0^ and 50^ , the charging process begins automatically.

ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up continuously and charge status indicator (5) flashes: Charger is hot, or battery pack is cold or hot, battery pack is charged with reduced charging capacity.

8.2 Warning display (4) flashes

• Battery pack is defective. Remove the battery pack immediately from the charger.
• The battery pack was not pushed correctly onto the sliding seat (2). See chapter 7.1.
• ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up and charge status indicator (5) is off: battery pack is not charged. charger too hot.

9. Repairs

Repairs to the charger must only be carried out by qualified electricians.

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or the Customer Service department of the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person to prevent endangering personnel and property.

10. Environmental Protection

Observe national regulations on environmentally compatible disposal and on the recycling of disused machines, packaging and accessories.

Packaging materials must be disposed of according to their labelling in accordance with municipal guidelines. Further information can be found at www.metabo.com in the "Service" section.
