How to clean the device and CDs?

Use a soft damp cloth (never wet) without any cleaning product or solvent. For CDs, clean with a soft cloth from the center outwards.

What to do if the CD doesn't play or skips?

Check that the device is in CD/USB mode. If the CD is dirty or scratched, clean it or use another CD. For burned CDs, use a higher quality blank CD.

How to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth?

Set the selector to AUX/BT. The display shows 'BT LINK' flashing. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone, search for 'Roadie' in the list, and connect. If prompted, enter the password 0000.

How to memorize a DAB or FM station?

Press and hold the memorize button (■). The display shows 'memorize on P#'. Use the CH+/- buttons to select the location, then press SELECT to confirm. To recall, briefly press the memorize button, then CH+/-.

Why do I have interference in FM?

This may be due to poor reception or a non-extended telescopic antenna. Fully extend the antenna, or perform an automatic station search. You can also set the audio mode to Mono in the menu.

How to use the AUX input?

Connect an audio cable (not supplied) from your external device to the AUX-IN jack at the rear. Set the selector to AUX/BT. The device automatically switches to AUX mode. Start playback on the external device. Adjust the volume on both devices.

How to switch from CD mode to USB mode?

Remove any CD, set the selector to CD/USB, connect a USB flash drive. Press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE button to toggle between CD and USB. The display shows the USB content.

How to reduce the number of DAB stations in the list?

In DAB mode, press MENU/INFO, select 'reduce number of stations' with CH+/-, confirm with SELECT. Select 'Yes' to delete unavailable stations.

How to enable or disable the LED light effects?

Use the Lighting switch located on the device (on/off). The LEDs light up automatically depending on the audio source.

What to do if there is no sound via Bluetooth?

Check that the external device is properly connected (the 'BT' indicator stops flashing). Ensure it is within range (less than 10 m). Disconnect the cable from the AUX-IN jack if present. On a PC, set the CD player as an external speaker in the audio settings.

ON PROTECTION AGAINST LASER ENERGY EXPOSURE

• As the laser beam used in this compact disc player is harmful to the eyes, do not attempt to disassemble the casing.

ON PLACEMENT

ON CONDENSATION

POWER SOURCES

This unit operates on AC 230V\~50Hz or 6 pieces of 1.5V "C" (UM-2) batteries. Do not attempt to operate the radio on any other power source. You could cause damage to the unit and void your warranty. Please be sure the power outlet you plug this unit into is working and receives constant (unswitched) power.

BATTERY OPERATION

1. Remove the Battery Door.
2. Install 6 x DC1.5V "C" (UM-2) batteries (not included) according to the polarity diagram inside the battery compartment.
   IMPORTANT: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
3. Close the Battery Door.

NOTE: For best performance, alkaline-type batteries are recommended.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

When the output sound of this unit becomes distorted or the CD player operation appears unstable, the batteries are weak. You need to replace all the exhausted batteries at the same time as soon as possible to avoid battery leakage.

AC OPERATION

Plug the detachable AC cord A into a standard AC outlet (230V\~50Hz).

1. When the AC power cord (included) is connected to the AC Power Socket on the back of the unit and the other end is plugged into a 230V AC\~50Hz wall outlet, the unit will disconnect the batteries automatically, and operate on AC Power only.
2. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH to "CD/USB" for CD or USB play, "FM" for FM radio, "BT/AUX" for BT or AUX play and "OFF" for unit power off.

IMPORTANT

To use the power-management function (European models only) This unit is equipped with an automatic standby function. With this function, the unit enters standby mode automatically after about 15 minutes if there is no operation or audio signal output.

DAB+ OPERATION

If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby for the first time, the unit will automatically enter into the DAB mode and perform auto scan function. During the scan the display will show "Scanning..." together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found so far. Once the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically found station. To explore the found stations, press the CHANNEL +/- buttons.

FULL SCAN

The full scan will search for the entire DAB+ Band III channels. After the scan has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.

1. To activate auto scan, press the SCAN button and the display will show "Scanning ..." and a progressing slide bar.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore and listen to the found stations, press the CHANNEL +/- buttons to select. Then press the SELECT button confirm into stations.

MANUAL TUNING

As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.

1. Press and hold down MENU button to display the menu.
2. Press the CHANNEL +/- button to select Manual tune.
3. Press the SELECT button to confirm manual.
4. Press CHANNEL + or - buttons to cycle through the DAB+ channels, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
5. After your desired channel number is selected, press the SELECT button to confirm. The display will show the multiplex.
6. Press and hold down MENU button again to add selected channel to station list.

DRC (DYNAMIC RANGE COMPRESSION)

If you are listening to music with high dynamic range in a noisy environment, you may wish to compress the audio dynamic range.

1. Press and hold down MENU button to display the menu.
2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select "DRC" and then press the SELECT button to confirm.
3. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select off / high / low.
4. Press the SELECT button to confirm.

PRUNE

You may remove all unavailable stations from the list.

1. During DAB mode, press and hold down MENU button to display the menu.
2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select "Prune" and then press the SELECT button to confirm.
3. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select , and then press the SELECT button to delete the unavailable stations.
4. You can press the CHANNEL + or - to select , and then press the SELECT button to cancel.

SOFTWARE INFORMATION

1. In DAB mode, press and hold down MENU button to display the menu.
2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select "SYSTEM" and then press the SELECT button to confirm.
3. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select "SW version".
4. Press the SELECT button to display the software version.
5. Press the MENU button to exit.

SECONDARY SERVICES

You may see a “>” symbol after the name of the station, this indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.

To select the secondary station, press and hold down MENU button when the “>” appears in the display before the station name. When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.

PRESET STATIONS

1. Press and hold the PRESET button. The display will show ""
2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select your desired preset station number. Then press the SELECT button confirm.
3. The station will be stored in few seconds and the display will then show "Preset # Stored".

RECALLING A STORED STATION

1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it by pressing the PRESET button. The display will show ""
2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select your desired preset station number. Then press the SELECT button confirm.

DAB INFO MODES

Press the INFO button ,the display will switch through the following display modes. The information of each display mode is displayed on the lower segment of the display.

SIGNAL STRENGTH

The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.

PROGRAMME TYPE

This describes the "style" or "genre" of the programme that is being broadcast.

ENSEMBLE

This displays the name of the multiplex that contains the station you are listening to. A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specific to that area.

NOTE: DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.

Frequency

This displays the frequency of the present station, such as "11C 220.352MHz".

Signal Error

This displays a number showing the error rate. If the number is 0, it means the signal received is error free and the signal strength is strong. If the error rate is high, it is recommended to re-orient the aerial or re-position the unit.

Audio Bit Rate

The display will show the digital audio bit rate being received.

DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)

Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program me details etc.

FM OPERATION

SWITCHING FROM DAB TO FM MODE

To switch the unit to FM mode, press the DAB/FM button repeatedly to select FM mode The display will show the frequency.

AUTO SCAN

Press and hold SELECT ▶ II button until the tuner starts searching for a station. To scan down the frequency band.

MANUAL SCAN

To search for FM stations manually, press the CHANNEL + or - buttons repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.

SCAN SETTING

This is a scanning option to scan all stations, or just scan stations with a strong signal.

1. Press the MENU button, then press the CHANNEL + or -buttons to select "Scan setting". Press the SELECT button to confirm.

2. Press the CHANNEL + or - buttons to select "All stations" or "Strong stations only". Press the SELECT button to confirm.

AUDIO SETTING

This unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode, but you can override this and switch this function manually. This can be helpful when receiving poor signal reception.

1. Press the MENU button, then press the buttons to select "Audio setting". Press the SELECT button to confirm.

2. Press the buttons to select "Stereo allowed" or "Forced mono" and then press the SELECT button to confirm.

AUDIO MODE

Press the MONO/STEREO button to toggle between the Stereo or Mono modes.

PRESET STATIONS

You can store up to 20 of your favourite stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.

RADIO TEXT

As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a scrolling text that displays information about the current program.

This displays if the station being received is in mono or stereo.

CD OPERATION

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

CD mechanisms used in devices like this are designed to read all commercial CDs. It will also read self-compiled MP3, CD-R/CD-RW discs, but it may take up to 10 seconds for the actual playback to begin. If playback does not start, it is likely due to the quality of the CD-R/RW disc and/or the compatibility of the CD compilation software. The manufacturer is not responsible for the playback quality of CD-R/RW discs.

Do not attach a label or seal to either side of the CD-R/RW disc. It may cause a malfunction.

PLAY MODE

1. Slide the FUNCTION SWITCH to the "CD/USB" position. The LCD DISPLAY will light.
2. Open the CD DOOR, load a CD with the label side facing upward and then close the CD door. A few seconds later the total number of tracks on the CD will appear on the LCD display.
   Press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON to start playing the CD from the first track. The PLAY/PAUSE PLAY (▶ II ) icon will be displayed..
3. While playing, press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON once to pause, the unit will go to pause mode and the PLAY (▶) icon and number of track will be flashing.
4. Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to the desired volume level.
5. Press STOP (■) BUTTON to stop playing.
6. To turn off the CD player, slide the FUNCTION SWITCH to "OFF" position. The LCD DISPLAY will go off.

NOTE: If skipping occurs during CD play, try turning the volume down.

Do not open the CD DOOR when a CD is playing.

FOLDER MODE (CD/MP3/USB)

1. If "FOLDER" buttons is short pressed during PLAYBACK/PAUSE/STOP mode, it will go to the next folder and display the folder number.
2. If "FOLDER" buttons is long pressed during PLAYBACK/PAUSE/STOP mode, it will go to the next 10 tracks and display the track number.

REPEAT/RANDOM PLAYBACK

1. During stop or playback mode, press the PLAY MODE button once, "REP_ONE" will show on the display. The CD will play the current track repeatedly.

2. Press the PLAY MODE button twice, "REP_ALL" will show on the display. The CD will play all tracks repeatedly.

3. Press the PLAY MODE button once more again, "RANDOM" will show on the display. all tracks on the disc can be played in a random order. the playback will stop automatically.

4. Press the PLAY MODE button once more again, the "RANDOM" function will turn off.

PROGRAMME SETTING

User can program up to 30 tracks in CD mode or 99 tracks in MP3 in any desired order. Programme mode is activated while in STOP mode.

1. Press the PLAY MODE button to enter program mode.
2. Press the ◀◀ or ▶▶ buttons to select the track that you want to preset.
3. Press the PLAY MODE button to confirm the track.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 to program more tracks. Once it is completed, press the PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON to start playback of the programmed tracks.

PROGRAMME CANCEL

To cancel the program, press the STOP button twice, or open the disk tray and then close it again.

USB OPERATION

USB SLOT OPERATION

DON'T have compact disc in CD compartment.

1. Slide the "FUNCTION" switch to CD/USB position.
2. Insert a USB drive to the USB port
3. The operation of PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP-, SKIP+, REPEAT and PROGRAM is the same as CD/MP3.
4. Press "PLAY/PAUSE" button long time changing USB mode.

Have compact disc in CD compartment.

1. Slide the "FUNCTION" switch to CD/USB position.
2. Insert a USB drive to the USB port
3. Press "PLAY/PAUSE" button long time to change CD to USB mode
4. The operation of PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP-, SKIP+, REPEAT and PROGRAM is the same as CD/MP3.

REP_ONE : Press the PLAY MODE button once, "REP_ONE" will show on the display. It will play the current track repeatedly.

REP_ALBUM : Press the PLAY MODE button twice, "REP_ALBUM" will show on the display. It will play the current folder repeatedly.

REP_ALL : Press the PLAY MODE button three times, "REP_ALL" will show on the display. It will play all files repeatedly.

REPEAT OFF: Press the PLAY MODE button once more again, the repeat function will turn off.

NOTE:

• The unit can only play MP3 file format in USB operation.
• If your USB device is loaded with MP3's but the display keeps showing "NO" on the display, the format of your USB device might not be compatible with the unit.
  • This unit supports USB versions 1.1 and 2.0.
• The unit can support USB devices with up to 32GB of memory.
• The unit may not be compatible with all USB devices and memory cards, this is not an indication of a problem with the unit.

AUX IN OPERATION

This CD features an AUX-IN jack for connecting your iPod, MP3 player or other digital music player.

1. Connect the headphone jack of your external device to the AUX IN jack located on the back of this CD player (The connection cable is not included).
2. Turn on the CD player and slide the FUNCTION SWITCH to AUX/BT position, unit will enter the AUX function mode once an external device is plugged into the AUX IN jack.
3. Start to play your iPod, MP3 player or other external audio device.
4. Slowly adjust both volume controls on your CD player and the external device.
5. Turn off your iPod, MP3 player and etc. when finish listening. Turn the CD player off and unplug the AUX IN jack.

Remark: Once the AUX IN jack is plugged, the BT/AUX player will automatically enter the AUX mode when the FUNCTION SWITCH is in BT/AUX mode. Remember to disconnect the cable from the unit after use in order to be able to listen to the BT mode again.

BT OPERATION

Press Slide the "FUNCTION" switch to AUX/BT position. to turn ON the unit and follow the directions below to connect via BT. (disconnect the AUX in cable).

PAIRING (Linking) a BT ENABLED cell phone OR OTHER BT ENABLED DEVICE to the Roadie

If the Roadie has never been paired with a BT device before. You need to follow the pairing instructions below to link the Roadie with your BT device.

1. Press Slide the "FUNCTION" switch to AUX/BT position.
2. Message "BT LINK" appears in display and flashing.

3. If the Roadie has never been paired with a BT device before or cannot find the last paired device, the flashing "BT LINK" on LCD will indicate the Roadie is in search mode. You need to follow the pairing instructions below to link the Roadie with your BT device.

4. Turn on the BT function of your BT device and enable the search or scan function to find the Roadie

5. Select "Roadie" from the device list when it appears on your device screen. If required, enter the pass code "0000" to pair (link) the Roadie with your device.
6. After successfully pairing (linking), display will change to show "bt" steadily, the BT icon also will show in display. You can begin playing music from your BT device wirelessly to the speaker.
7. After selecting your favorite song, press PLAY/PAUSE Button on the unit l to play or pause the song.
8. Adjust the VOLUME CONTROL to the desired volume level.
9. Press SKIP-/+ Button to skip to previous or next song.
10. If you want to pair the Roadie with another BT enabled device, press and hold the PAIR Button for 3 seconds or turn off the BT function of device currently paired with Roadie then repeat step 3 above.

Notes:

1. Refer to the manual of your cell phone, tablet PC, computer or other BT enabled devices for BT operation since it may vary from model to model.
2. If your BT enabled device does not support A2DP profile, it will not play the music through the speaker, even if paired (linked).
3. If you are pairing (linking) your computer to the unit using BT, you may need to set the speaker as your computer's default sound device.

LED LIGHT SHOW

• The LED light shows inside the speaker and around the center display of the unit are created automatically based on the music source being played at the time
• To turn on the LED light show, slide LIGHT switch to ON position.
• To turn off the LED light show, slide LIGHT switch to OFF position.

NOTE: If the brightness is glaring, turn on room lights or turn off LED light show.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. Children should be supervised when using this appliance.
2. Never wrap the earphone lead around any animal or person. Special care should be taken with long wires.
3. Clean your unit with a damp (never wet) cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
4. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
5. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors.
6. If drop-outs or interruptions occur in the music during CD play, or if the CD fails to play at all, its bottom surface may require cleaning. Before playing, wipe the disc from the center outwards with a good soft cleaning cloth.
