Frequently Asked Questions - PDI03 JB Palmer

How to connect the Palmer PDI03 JB to an amp?
Connect the speaker output of your amplifier to the INPUT (6.35 mm jack) using a quality instrument cable. Then connect the THW output to your cabinet or speaker with a speaker cable. You can use the BALANCED (XLR) and UNBALANCED (jack) outputs simultaneously.
Can I use the PDI03 JB without a speaker?
No, unless you connect a suitable dummy load (like the Palmer PDI06) to the THW output. Without a speaker or load, you risk seriously damaging your amplifier. No load is needed if you use the PDI03 JB with a preamp or pedal.
What is the function of the JB selector?
The JB selector (exclusive to the PDI03 JB model) acts like an overdrive pedal: it adds a mid boost and slight bass cut. In MEDIUM position, the boost is broad; in HEAVY position, it is narrower and more pronounced, delivering a powerful and present sound.
How to adjust the input attenuator?
Set the ATTENUATOR selector according to the source: 24 dB position for amps up to 200 W, 12 dB for amps up to 10 W, 0 dB for line-level preamps and instrument pedals.
What cables to use with the PDI03 JB?
Use high-quality 6.35 mm jack instrument cables for unbalanced inputs/outputs, a speaker cable for the THW output to the cabinet, and a microphone XLR cable for the balanced output.
Does the PDI03 JB require power?
No, the Palmer PDI03 JB is a passive device. It does not require any mains or battery power.
How to clean the Palmer PDI03 JB?
Use a dry cloth to clean the device. Never use liquids or abrasive products.
What to do if the device does not work properly?
Turn off the device immediately and unplug it if powered. Check connections and cables. If the problem persists, contact an authorized repair service. Never open the device yourself.
Is the PDI03 JB compatible with tube amps?
Yes, it is designed to be connected between the amplifier and the cabinet. Ensure you set the attenuator correctly and always have a load (speaker or suitable dummy load) connected to the THW output to avoid damaging the amp.
What is the warranty period for the Palmer PDI03 JB?
Adam Hall offers a manufacturer's warranty of 2 years from the date of purchase against defects in parts or workmanship. The warranty is non-transferable and does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, or unauthorized modifications.
