Can I plug in my CANDY CHSBSO 6174XWD refrigerator immediately after delivery?
Frequently Asked Questions - 8 d
Response Notice-Facile

No, it is advisable to wait at least 4 hours before plugging in your CANDY CHSBSO 6174XWD refrigerator after its delivery or transport.

This waiting period is very important as it allows the compressor oil to flow back and settle properly, especially if the appliance has been transported horizontally. It is an essential step to ensure the proper functioning of your appliance and to extend its lifespan.

After the 4-hour wait:

  • Clean the interior with warm water and mild soap
  • Plug in the appliance
  • Let it run for at least 2 hours at the highest settings before placing your food inside

This procedure is essential to ensure optimal operation of your CANDY CHSBSO 6174XWD.

Respond (be the first)
What does error code E0 mean on the CANDY CHSBSO 6174XWD refrigerator and how can it be resolved?
Frequently Asked Questions - 03/19/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The error code E0 on the CANDY CHSBSO 6174XWD combined refrigerator indicates a malfunction of the temperature probe (thermal sensor). This probe is responsible for detecting the internal temperature and transmitting it to the control system. If it is defective or poorly connected, the appliance cannot properly regulate cooling, hence the display of the error code.

Before contacting a technician, try these solutions:

  • Reset the appliance: Unplug the refrigerator from the power outlet for about 5 to 10 minutes. This reset can eliminate false errors related to temporary faults in the electronic system. Then plug the appliance back in and wait a few hours to check if the code has disappeared.
  • Check the connectors: If you have access to the back area of the appliance, check that the connection cables of the temperature probe are not loose, damaged, or corroded. Ensure that all electrical connectors are securely plugged in.
  • Check the operation: Ensure that the freezer (left compartment) and refrigerator (right compartment) are cooling properly despite the error code display. The thermostat is adjustable between 2°C and -22°C depending on the compartment. If the cooling is functioning normally, it may be a false code.
  • Observe the appliance: Let the CHSBSO 6174XWD run for at least 24 hours after the reset to allow the system to fully stabilize its internal temperature (influenced by ambient temperature, the amount of food, and door openings).

If the error code E0 persists after these checks, it indicates that the temperature probe of the freezer or refrigerator is defective or that the connection circuit is damaged. The sensor will then need to be replaced. This intervention requires the assistance of a certified CANDY technician, who can accurately diagnose which probe is faulty and replace it. Contact CANDY customer service or an authorized repair center to make an appointment.

Note: The CHSBSO 6174XWD comes with a 2-year warranty. If your appliance is still under warranty and the defect is not due to misuse, the repair should be covered free of charge.

The information above gives users recommendations for temperature setting.

It's suggested to set the temperature at 4°C in the fridge compartment, and, if possible, at -18°C in the freezer compartment.

For most food categories, the longest storage time in the fridge compartment is achieved with colder temperatures. Since some particular products (such as fresh fruits and vegetables) may be damaged by colder temperatures, it is suggested to keep them in the crisper drawers, whenever present. If not present, maintain an average setting of the thermostat.

For frozen food, refer to the storage time written on the food packaging. This storage time is achieved whenever the setting respects the reference temperatures of the compartment (one-star -6°C, two stars -12°C, three stars -18°C).

Helpful hints and tips

Hints for freezing

To help you make the most of the freezing process, here are some important hints:

  • The maximum quantity of food which can be frozen in 24 hours is shown on the rating plate.
  • The freezing process takes 24 hours. No further food to be frozen should be added during this period.
  • Only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughly cleaned foodstuffs.

Prepare food in small portions to enable it to be rapidly and completely frozen and to make it possible subsequently to thaw only the quantity required.

Wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polythene and make sure that the packages are airtight.

Do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch food which is already frozen, thus avoiding a rise in temperature of the latter.

Lean foods store better and longer than fatty ones; salt reduces the storage life of food.

Water ices, if consumed immediately after removal from the freezer compartment, can possibly cause the skin to be freeze burnt.

It is advisable to show the freezing in date on each individual pack to enable you to keep track of the storage time.

To maintain temperatures in this area, be careful not to move this shelf.

INSTALLING THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE

To help you set up your fridge correctly, it features a temperature gauge that allows you to

monitor the average temperature in the coldest area. WARNING: This device is only intended for use with the refrigerator. Be careful not to use it in another refrigerator (in fact the coldest area is not the same) or for another use.

Temperature control in the coldest area

Once the installation of the temperature gauge is complete, it is possible

You can periodically check that the temperature of the coldest zone is correct.

If necessary, adjust the thermostat accordingly. The internal temperature of the refrigerator is influenced by several factors such as the ambient temperature in the room, the amount of food stored, and the frequency with which the door is opened. Consider these factors when setting the temperature.

Be careful to properly store food in the refrigerator and especially in the coldest area. Make sure the temperature display indicates "OK".

OK.

If "OK" does not appear, the temperature of the zone is too high. Set the thermostat to a higher position. Wait at least 12 hours before resetting the thermostat. After loading fresh food into the appliance or opening the door again (or for a long time), it is normal for the "OK" indicator not to appear on the temperature display.
