Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new device. You have selected a high-quality product. The operating instructions are part of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner. Intended use This appliance is intended exclusively for grilling and heating food indoors. This appliance is intended solely for use in private households. Do not use it for commercial purposes. Safety information DANGER! RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK! ► To prevent accidents, have defective plugs and/or power cables replaced immediately by an authorised specialist technician or our Customer Service department. ► Do not allow the power cable to come into contact with hot appliance parts. Never use the appliance near naked flames, a hotplate or a heated oven. ► Do not expose the appliance to rain, and never use it in ahumid or wet environment. Ensure that the power cable never becomes wet or moist during operation. ► Check the device for visible external damage before use. Do not operate a device that has been damaged or dropped. ► The power cable must be checked for signs of damage at regular intervals. If the power cable is damaged, the appliance may no longer be used.SRGS 1400 B3■ 18
DANGER! RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK! ► The appliance must be connected to a mains socket with aprotective earth. ► The device must not come into contact with moisture such as rain or water. Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid! There is a risk of fatal electric shock if residual liquids come into contact with live components during operation. WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! ► This appliance may be used by children of the age of 8years or more and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/ or knowledge only if they are being supervised or have been instructed with regard to the safe use of the appliance and have understood the potential risks. ► Children must not play with the device. ► Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless they are older than 8 years of age and are supervised. ► Children younger than 8 years must be kept away from the appliance and the power cable. ► After use, allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning it. Risk of burns! ► If possible, set up the appliance close to a power socket. Ensure that the power plug is quickly reachable in case of danger, and that the cable poses no risk of tripping. ► Provide a stable location for the appliance.SRGS 1400 B3 GB
19 ■ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! ► Touch only the temperature control while the appliance is in use. The surfaces of the appliance become very hot during use. Caution! Hot surface! CAUTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote control system to operate the appliance. ► Never leave the device unattended during operation. ► Ensure that the appliance, the power cable and the plug do not come into contact with heat sources such as hotplates or naked flames. ► Do not use charcoal or similar fuels to operate the appliance! ► To protect the non-stick coating on the pans and the grill, do not use metallic tools such as knives, forks, etc. ► Operate the appliance only with the original accessories supplied.SRGS 1400 B3■ 20
Assembly and setting up WARNING! RISK OF FIRE! ► Never place the device underneath wall cupboards or next to curtains, cupboard walls or other flammable objects. ► Always place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface.
1) Take all the parts out of the box and remove the packaging material and any
protective wrapping or stickers.
2) Clean all of the components as described in the Chapter "Cleaning and care"
to remove any packaging residue. Ensure that all parts are completely dry.
3) Place the appliance on a clean and level heat-resistant surface. Do not place
the appliance directly next to a wall or a cupboard. Each person should have unimpaired access to the pans .
4) Place the stone griddle on the side of the base unit where the indicator
lamps are located. The surrounding fat channel must be facing upwards, the holding pins in the base must protrude into the recesses in the underside of the stone griddle so that it sits firmly on the base.
5) Place the griddle onto the other side of the base. Here you can choose
between the smooth griddle or the grooved griddle surface. If you use the grooved griddle, your food will have the typical grill pattern.
6) Push the pans into the device.
Before first use The appliance is assembled and set up as described above.
1) Set the temperature control to 0.
2) Insert the plug into a mains power socket. The power indicator lamp lights
up red to show that the appliance is connected to the mains.
3) Turn the temperature control to MAX. The heat-up indicator lamp lights
up green to show that the appliance is heating up. As soon as the heat-up indicator lamp goes off, the appliance has heated up.
4) After 20 minutes, turn the temperature control to 0.
5) Then pull out the plug and allow the appliance to cool down.SRGS 1400 B3 GB
21 ■ NOTE ► The first time the appliance heats up, a small amount of smoke and odour may be generated due to production-related residue. This is normal and is completely harmless. Ensure sufficient ventilation; for example, by opening a window.
6) Clean the griddle , the stone griddle , the spatula and the pans as
described in the section "Cleaning and care".
7) Ensure that all parts are completely dry before operating the device.
The appliance is now ready for use. Operation WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! ► If you want to move the appliance when it is hot, do not touch the metal surfaces, the stone griddle or the griddle ! Hold the appliance as shown below:SRGS 1400 B3■ 22
1) Select the side of griddle that you want to use. The ridged side is particularly
suitable for meat, which does not lie directly on the flat surface of the griddle due to the grooves. On the smooth side, the food lies flat on the griddle . This is suitable for vegetables, for example.
2) Lightly oil the stone griddle and the griddle with the side you want to
use at the top and the pans on the inside.
3) Insert the plug into a mains power socket. The power indicator lamp lights
up red to show that the appliance is connected to the mains.
4) Turn the temperature control to MAX. The heat-up indicator lamp lights
up green to show that the appliance is heating up. As soon as the heat-up indicator lamp goes off, the appliance has heated up. NOTE ► The heat-up indicator lamp may come on and go out several times during this process. This is not an appliance malfunction! It merely indicates that the appliance is maintaining the set temperature. ► Depending on the room temperature, heating up will start at different positions on the temperature control . The appliance does not heat upat normal room temperature in the striped area of the temperature control scale . If you turn the temperature control towards MAX, you will hear a slight "click" and the appliance will start to heat up. If you only want to use the raclette, allow the appliance to heat up for 10minutes. If you want to use the stone griddle at the same time to grill food, wait around 30 minutes until the stone griddle has heated up (see Chapter "Grill"). The pans do not need to be pushed into the appliance while it is heating up.
5) Fill the pans with the desired ingredients. Ensure that the pans are not
overfilled otherwise the food could get too close to the heating elements and could even touch them!
6) Place the pans into the device. The slight recess in the appliance helps to
keep the pans in place.
7) Turn the temperature control towards 0 if you want to reduce the
temperature. Turn the temperature control towards MAX if you want to increase the temperature again.
8) Remove the pans from the device as soon as the contents are cooked.SRGS 1400 B3 GB
23 ■ WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! ► Apart from the insulated handles, the pans are very hot! Therefore, hold the pans only by the handle!
9) Empty the contents of the pan onto your plate using the spatula .
You can now refill the pan and push it back into the device. Do not push used, but empty pans into the device. Any remaining food in the pans could burn on. NOTE ► Because of the non-stick coating in the pans , it is not necessary to re- grease them before every use.
10) Once you have finished using the appliance, turn the temperature control
to "0" and remove the plug from the mains socket. Grill Using the griddle and the stone griddle , you can simultaneously grill meat, vegetables or small pieces of fruit to accompany the raclette. NOTE
The griddle takes about 10 minutes to heat up. You cannot cook food on the griddle until then! ► The stone griddle takes about 30 minutes to heat up. You cannot cook food on the stone griddle until then!

occasionally as required. ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► Do not use metal implements such as knives, forks, etc. when you remove food from the griddle as they could damage the non-stick coating. If the non-stick coating is damaged, stop using the appliance. NOTE ► Over time, the stone griddle may become slightly discoloured. This will not impair its functionality.SRGS 1400 B3■ 24
► Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the power plug from the mains power socket! There is a risk of electric shock! Never immerse the device in water or any other liquid! WARNING! RISK OF INJURY! ► Always allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning it. Otherwise there is a risk of burns! ■ It is best to clean the device as soon as it has cooled down. This makes food residues easier to remove. ATTENTION! PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning materials. These can damage the surface of the appliance! ► Do not clean the stone griddle until it has cooled down. Otherwise the stone griddle could crack and break. ■ Wipe the device housing and the heating elements with a moist cloth. If necessary, put a little mild detergent on the cloth and wipe this off afterwards with clear water. Dry everything properly. ■ Clean the griddle , the stone griddle , the spatula and the pans in warm soapy water. Dry all parts properly after cleaning. NOTE The spatulas can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Ensure that they do not get caught in the dishwasher. Use the upper basket in the dishwasher if possible. NOTE ► You can also use a soft, non-abrasive sponge to clean the stone griddle . ► To remove undesirable odours such as fish smells, rub the stone griddle down with a little lemon juice. ► The stone griddle takes longer to dry.SRGS 1400 B3 GB
25 ■ Storage ■ Allow the appliance to cool down before putting it away. You can store the empty, cleaned pans in the appliance. ■ Store the cleaned device in a clean, dust-free and dry place. Troubleshooting Fault Cause The solution The appliance is not working. The plug is not connected to the mains power. Insert the plug into a mains power socket. The mains power socket is defective. Use a different mains power socket. The appliance is defective. Contact Customer Services. If the malfunction cannot be corrected using one of the suggestions above, or if you have found some other kind of malfunction, please contact our Customer Service department.SRGS 1400 B3■ 26
Disposal Never dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2012/19/EU. Dispose of the device via an approved disposal company or your municipal waste facility. Please comply with all applicable regulations. Please contact your waste disposal centre if you are in any doubt. Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product. The packaging is made of environmentally friendly materials which you can dispose of at your local recycling centre. Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Note the labelling on the packaging and separate the packaging material components for disposal if necessary. 27 ■ Kompernass Handels GmbH warranty Dear Customer, This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below. Warranty conditions The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt in asafe place. This will be required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion). This warranty service requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written description of the fault and of when it occurred. If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period. Warranty period and statutory claims for defects The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage and defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. Repairs carried out after expiry of the warranty period shall be subject to a fee. Scope of the warranty This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or to fragile parts which could be considered as consumable parts such as switches, batteries or parts made of glass. The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discouraged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided. This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes.
