Attention! When using power tools it is important to observe the following safety advice in order to protect yourself against electrical shock. The op- erator is responsible for accidents involv- ing other persons and/or their property. Never let children or other persons who have not read these instructions use the device. Persons younger than 16 must not use the device. Local regulations may determine the minimum age for users. Safety advice Meaning of symbols General notes z The machine is designed exclusively for cut- ting hedges. Use for purposes other than those intended qualify as improper use. The manufacturer/supplier is not responsible for any damages that result from improper use. The operator is solely responsible for assum- ing all risks. z Do not overload the machine as it works better and more safely when operated within the specified range of performance. Before trimming z Clear the work surface of any foreign items/bodies. z Check the hedge for any hidden objects such as wire fencing, etc. z Check the connector cable and the line at- tached to the outside of the machine for dam- age and wear (brittleness). Use these only if they are in perfect condition. z Check to see that the safety guards are at- tached. Machines without or having damaged safety guards must not be used! z Perform a visual inspection to see whether the cutting tool is dull or damaged. z Replace dull or damaged cutting tools. z Keep the handgrips clean, dry, and free of oil and grease. z Never attempt to use a machine that is not fully assembled or one that has been altered in a manner that is not permitted. While trimming 1 Do not use the shears in the rain or to trim wet hedges. The penetration of water into the casing in- creases the risk of electrical shock. z Do not use the device in areas where there is danger of fire or explosion. z Pay attention to what you are doing. Approach the work sensibly. Do not use the device if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alco- hol or are taking any medications. 1 Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Clothing or jewellery could be snagged by moving parts. z Wear only closed-toe shoes and long pants when working. z Never work barefoot or in sandals. z Hold the device steady with both hands and operate it only from a stable position. z Watch out for foreign objects while working! z Keep your working area tidy. An untidy work area can lead to accidents. z Ensure that you have sufficient space while working. z Keep all body parts away from the blade. z No persons -- especially children -- animals, or objects should be found in the work area . z Work at a height whereby the blade does not come into contact with the ground. z Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold on to material that is to be cut while the blade is running. Use eye and ear protection! Wear protective gloves! Unplug the connection cable im- mediately if it has been damaged or cut! Do not expose to rain!15

1 Attention! Reverse blade If the blade become jammed by thick branches, for example, the hedge shears must be shut off:z Pull out the power plug. z Do not touch running blades.z Remove the cause of the blockage.z Unplug the power plug from the socket.z Never use the connector cable to pull the plug out of the socket.z Once the blades are idle, carry the shears by the hand grips (keeping your hands away form the blades).z Never carry the device by the connector cable.z After use, make sure the device is stored in a way that the blades cannot be touched (blade protection). Cable 1 Attention! Electric shock through cable damage If the cable is cut through or damaged, the safety fuse does not always trip.z Do not touch the cable before the power plug is pulled out of the socket.z A damaged cable must be completely re-placed. Patching the cable with insulat-ing tape is not permitted.z Avoid bodily contact with grounded parts such as metal fences.z Repairs to the cable should be performed only by an expert.z Fasten the connecting cable to the stress relief mechanism. Do not scrape against corners, spikes or sharp objects.z Do not squeeze the cable between door jams or through windows.z Keep cable away from the cutting area.z Switchgears must not be removed or bridged.z Use only extension cable not lighter than rub-ber hose, type HO 7 RNF, minimum cross section 3 x 1.5 mm , length: max. 25 m.z Cables have to be protected against splashing water. Maintenance 1 Attention! Reverse blade Before all maintenance and cleaning work:z Pull out the power plug. z Do not touch running blades.z Do not spray off the device with water. Do not use high pressure cleaning or pressurised steam to clean the device.z Do not store the hedge shears in humid rooms.z For safety reasons, replace worn or damaged parts.z Repairs must only be performed at a location staffed by experts.z If the connecting cable is damaged, it must be replaced at an authorized specialist service location in order to eliminate hazards.z Use only WOLF original replacement parts. Otherwise there is no guarantee that the de-vice will comply with the safety specifications. Disposal Assembly Attach protective shield z Attach the protective shield as shown.Power tools do not belong in household garbage. Bring the the device, accessories and packaging to an environmentally-friendly recy-cling location. A16

Operation Times of operation z Please consult regional/local regulations. z Inquire about the operating times at your local regulatory agency. Feed cable through the strain relief z Lead the cable into strain relief as indicated (prevents accidental loosening of the plug con-nector). Adjust blade head In order to ensure the same, ergonomically ideal handling in all cutting situations the blade head has a 5-position latching mechanism . 1 Attention! Reverse blade Perform adjustments to the device only when the motor is off and the blade is idle.1. Press the locking button down.2. Rotate the blade head into the desired posi-tion.3. Now release the locking button.4. Check whether the blade head is in place (the hedge shears can only be switched on if the blade head is snapped in). Connect to the socket (230 Volt, 50 Hz) z Connect the device only to sockets that are protected with a 10-16 Amp. fuse (or LS switch type B) 3 Note: Residual current protection device These safeguards provide protection against severe injuries resulting from touching dam-aged cables, insulation defects and in some cases cables that conduct electricity.z We recommend that the equipment only be plugged into a power socket, which is protect-ed by a residual current protection device (RCD) with a residual current of no more than 30 mA. z Retrofit kits are available for old installations. Consult an electrician Switching the hedge shears on/off z Make sure that your hands are steady when working above head height.z Hold the blade away from your body.z Never place the cable above the hedge where it can easily be caught by the blades.Motor on 1. Hold down the safety switch on the bowed handle (1).2. Press the on/off button on the hand grip (2) at the same time.Motor off z Release one of the two buttons. Tips for cutting z Please observe the brooding season of the birds!z The ideal hedge cutting form is the trapezoid , which provides for adequate light and ventilation for all parts of the hedge.z In order to promote thick growth of young hedges, only half of new shoots should be cut.z If the hedge has already reached the desired height, new shoots can be completely re-moved.z In order to achieve a steady hedge height you can string up a guide wire at the desired height and cut along this wire.z Cutting seasons:– Deciduous hedges: May/June and October (cutback to approx. 1/3 of the total height in winter)– Conifer hedges: April and October– Conifers: April and October

Maintenance General 1 Attention! Reverse blade Before all maintenance and cleaning work:z Pull out the power plug. z Do not touch moving blades. Cleaning z Clean the hedge shears with a dry towel, par-ticularly the ventilation slits, after each use or using a brush in the case of heavy soiling.z Spray the blades with oil after each use.z Under no circumstances spray the hedge shears off with water. Storage z Store the hedge shears in the blade scabbard provided. – For easy storage the blade scabbard can be mounted on the wall .– We recommend using the drill template (see page 136) for simple wall-mounting of the blade scabbard.z Store the hedge shears in a dry location out of the reach of children. Warranty conditions Keep the warranty card or proof of purchase com- pleted by the seller in a safe place. WOLF-Garten provides a guarantee of 24 months from the time of purchase representing the particular state of technology and the intended purpose/applica- tion. The legal rights of the end consumer are not af- fected by the following warranty guidelines. Requirements for the 24-month claim to warranty: - Device intended exclusively for private use. The warranty is reduced to 12 months if the device is used in commercial or rental ventures. - Proper handling and observance of all indications in the operating instructions, which are part of our warranty terms and conditions. - Observance of the prescribed maintenance inter- vals. - No unauthorized alteration of the construction. - Installation of genuine WOLF replacement parts/accessories. - Provision of completed warranty card and/or proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover normal wear of the blades, blade attachment parts such as friction plates, V-/toothed belts, rotors/rings, air filters, spark plugs or spark plug connectors. Unauthorized repair automati- cally renders all claims to warranty null and void. Flaws and defects caused by material or production flaws will be repaired exclusively by our contractual service locations (the seller has the right to remedy the problem) in your area or the manufacturer (if loca- tion is closer). Claims beyond the terms of warranty are excluded. No claim to the delivery of the replace- ment is valid. All transport damages are not to be re- ported to us but rather to the person/company responsible for transport.
