Frequently Asked Questions - Planetarium CKPT2225 Christiaan van der Klaauw

How to set the day and month on the Planetarium CKPT2225?
Use the provided tool to press the pusher at 9 o'clock. This advances the days and months. The planet settings adjust automatically based on the day and month.
How to manually wind the watch?
Turn the crown clockwise when it is in the neutral position (position ⑨). This manually winds the watch. The automatic movement also winds through wrist movements.
How to set the time?
Pull the crown fully to position ①. Turn it to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the displayed time is between 04:00 and 08:00 or between 16:00 and 20:00 before setting the day and month.
What does the planetarium display represent?
The planetarium shows the positions of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn relative to the Sun, which is at the center of the dial at 6 o'clock. Each planet rotates at its own speed, ranging from 87.97 days for Mercury to 29.46 years for Saturn.
Can I wear the watch in the shower or while swimming?
No, it is not recommended to expose the watch to water. Bathing or showering with the watch may damage it. The water resistance is limited to 30 meters, but it is best to avoid prolonged contact.
What is the power reserve of the watch?
The power reserve is approximately 42 hours. When not wearing the watch, it is advisable to use a mechanical winder to keep the movement running.
How to maintain my Planetarium watch?
Clean the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chemicals. Have the watch serviced every 3 to 5 years by an authorized watchmaker. Protect it from magnetic fields and shocks.
What type of strap does the watch come with?
The watch is fitted with an alligator leather strap. It can be replaced by an authorized Christiaan van der Klaauw dealer.
Why do the planets move at different speeds?
Each planet has a different orbital period around the Sun: Mercury 87.97 days, Venus 224.70 days, Earth 365.24 days, Mars 686.98 days, Jupiter 11.86 years, and Saturn 29.46 years. The movement reproduces these periods to scale.
What to do if the watch seems to stop or lose time?
Manually wind the watch by turning the crown in the neutral position. If it does not maintain power reserve or the problem persists, contact an authorized dealer for diagnosis. Avoid leaving the watch discharged for too long.

Congratulations with your purchase of a Christiaan van der Klaauw Astronomical Watch. Christiaan van der Klaauw has been making superb watches - unique, exclusive and innovative - for more than 40 years. All these watches are made by hand by passionate watchmakers, with a central theme that appeals strongly to the imagination: astronomy. This is a logical relationship for Christiaan van der Klaauw - after all, time has always been determined on the basis of astronomical values. So we can justifiably state in connection with our watches: Astronomy, time in its purest form.

Your wristwatch is fitted with an automatic movement. When you wear your watch, the movements of your wrist are automatically converted into the energy required to operate your watch. You can also wind the watch by hand. If you do not wear the watch, we advise you to place it in a watch winder.

Turn clockwise.

Exposing our watches to water is not recommended. Your watch may be damaged if you wear it while swimming or in the shower.
